Cedar Point 2012

^^ That is true, but it just seems to be that about every 4-5 years we get a new one. Its almost like a tradition.

It seemed like it, but that trend has pretty much ended now. I blame Detroit, Cleveland, and Toledo. I bet CP wishes it could move closer to Columbus. ;)

Just a few ideas. They are thrilling, and will welcome a lot of people. Maybe not RotoShake as much as other two.

I think any one of those would be wonderful addition to the point. Any one of them would be more thrilling than the 300ft. rotating, brightly lighted, highly exhilirating lawn ornament they put in this year.

That's not a teaser though. That's just there. Its not like had a bunch of clues or hints before they started construction

Those footers and tracks ARE clues......that they're getting something big for the next season. I think it's more about the hype that they generate when no direct clues to the rides details are given (name, layout, etc). Even if you're a regular guest, seeing those footer and or track will make you wonder what they are for. I mean not every park is going to do what Hershey Park did with Skyrush. That would just be unnecessary. ;)

Plus, the word will get out one way or another. That what a press release is all about. :D

Back in the day CP was the huge money maker of the chain, but that is not the case any more as many of the other parks are growing their market.

Please state your source that CP is not the top money maker of the chain? I don't think you are correct. With two gated parks, 3 hotels, campground, cabins, indoor water park, 2 marinas and out of park restaurants I believe CP is still the cash cow of the chain by a fairly large margin. Plus, if you take CP's 2010 attendance of 3 million plus Soak City's 2010 attendance of 387,000 you have combined attendance equal or slighty above Canada's Wonderland.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Have you actually even ridden it? I thought it was pretty dang cool. It's thrilling because you are just kinda dangling 300 feet in the air, plus it's cool because you get an amazing 360 degree view and can see really far. I know it's just my opinon, but I enjoyed Windseeker (:

I liked it too...it wasn't the most thrilling, but it was neat. I still have to ride it at night, I'm sure the park will look gorgeous all lit up from that height.

Wow. This is probably one of the worst years I have seen. People are going crazy and over thinking this. Guys it is really simple. Cedar Point is not getting anything major for 2012. Get over it. Stop being in denial and accept it. It is really obvious. Cedar Point has plenty of coasters. With all these fires happening the past two years it seems like they need to update there infrastructure.

Don't know if anybody has said this yet, but Cedar Point has uploaded a teaser video on their youtube account. It looks like its gonna be a ride straight out of the 80's that everyone will get tired of.

Without looking, would this link prove that Cedar Point never gives us up and never lets us down? ;)

Thought I would bring some humor into this thread...Other than the people still thinking we are getting a Dive Machine.

But we are! I mean, there's still time to pour footings and clear land and stuff and whatnot and junk........right? >_>

They don't need to clear stuff out. The footers are already poured in the lake.

The last rumor I heard was that the B&M at Canada's Wonderland will reach all the way to Cedar Point.

The new ride at Canada's Wonderland will be visible from the top of Magnum. ;)

Seems to me CP has become "equal" with other parks in the chain.

Probably because CP has a very extensive, mature coaster lineup already, while other parks in the chain do not.

That was the cap ex plan when it made sense. It no longer makes sense.

It's that and because I think they learned that putting more money in some of the other parks results in bigger returns then if it were invested at CP.

I think those two issues are actually the same issue, to some degree. While the regions around KI and CW are probably doing better economically than that of CP, I think that's not the primary reason those parks are seeing cap ex projects on a level that CP isn't.

Installing a hyper coaster (Diamondback) at King's Island generated a lot of interest, and attendance benefited, presumably. Installing a hyper at CP wouldn't generate the same interest due to their already-full lineup, obviously, and thus wouldn't have as strong a case in terms of ROI.

It would, if it weren't sinking...

My author website: mgrantroberts.com.

I wouldn't be surprised if cedar points next coaster was a smaller one. More like a family coaster.
