It was about Cedar Point. He said John (Hildebrandt) would have a surprise for us. John wouldn't be making announcements for other parks.

Not a problem. I was just clarifying because SSL488 didn't remember the quote exactly.

What if Kinzel meant that we all would be ridding Hildebrants surprise during next years coastermania? Maybe the surprise would be that there wouldn't be stupid hints via crazy viral internet marketing games, and Cedar Point would just have a standard announcement?
To quote the little kid from the movie Angles in the Outfield (1994), "Hey, it could happen!" :)

ok a couple things... this Quote of Kinzel what exactly was said and when? I heard about it on here and at first it seemed like it was an announcement this year for next. thought it doesn't look like its going to happen.
Depending on the quote you're talking about. The quote mentioned long ago was during Coastermania and related to a surprise announced in 2012, presumably for 2013. The quote mentioned a page or two back is referring to the latest teaser on Canada's Wonderland 2012 website. He is quoting as saying, "We've always loved breaking records. Congratulations, Wonderland". The announcement for that coaster is tomorrow, Aug 18.

I'm not sure, SSL. My thoughts are that they could possibly do a big ride next year, just because they do thrill rides and water rides in between the building of huge, record-breaking rides. We haven't had a roller coaster since Maverick so who knows.
I'm thinking the only reason they wouldn't build another roller coaster for a while is because of financial problems, like you said (I don't know much either, I'm 15.) Considering rides are million-dollar investments these days, that could be one of the few major things holding them back from building any record breaking rides in the next 1 or 2 years. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed! :)
Gracie, the girl once yelled at for planking the Millennium Force sign.
And just because there's not going to be a "new" coaster, that doesn't mean they don't have a plan to retheme disaster transport or something. They wouldn't have to do something with that for months because it's inside and there's no footers you have to poor.
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

Does anyone still have that link of the audio that Walt recorded at Coastermania?
