Or perhaps it's something that doesn't require an extensive amount of clues/hints. Isn't part of the point of a large new attraction the hype that builds around it? I mean it seems that due to the severe lack of any mention of an announcement (aside from the recent FB heads up) that anything very significant is coming to the park next year. It might be hard to accept it, but there are very few clues (if any) that would point to something serious.

Visit the other parks in the chain, and it will become quite obvious that Cedar Point is still the flagship park in the chain, regardless of how much has been spent at the other parks in recent years. The others just needed to be brought up to par, which they clearly were not by any stretch of the imagination.
Promoter of fog.
^The thing is, as others have pointed out, if they were going to build something "larger" for 2012 that they would have already started construction.
I just hope it's not something stupid...
^^^Same here, I would be so mad if it's dumb. Even it's a little thrill, or just fun I will be satisfied.

Don't know why, but that comment actually made me laugh!
When you visit CP, visit my Mill, est. 1835
New for 2012, neon lighted, rotating, 500' tall, automatic lemon chill stand. Every park in the chain will be getting one and they will all be called stratosoar or whyte lightning depending on the region and park theming. (sorry lemon chill guy you get laid off and become part of the unemployment stats). P.S. These will be produced by Intamin and debut in July of 2012 almost on schedule.
No coaster will ever be too fast or too tall!

They didn't really have a lot of hype for whatever is coming to CW beside that countdown.
Except for the fact that they've been clearing land and pouring footers for a month. Plus they have track on site. Not sure how much more of a teaser you'd like.

Eat 'em up, Tigers, eat 'em up!
That's not a teaser though. That's just there. Its not like had a bunch of clues or hints before they started construction
I would happy with:

Just a few ideas. They are thrilling, and will welcome a lot of people. Maybe not RotoShake as much as other two.
I think they should really just spend a lot of money and fix the park up a ton.
repaint some rides, fix lights, get some bird wire where the birds poop the most, additional fans in the more crowded queues, find a way to get the unused coaster trains ready for next year, possibly update the PA systems so we can actually hear the ride ops and not a bunch of jumbled words lost do to the poor quality. Maybe an auto spiel? Fix the Millenium lights for sure!! I miss those.
Little things like this could make a huge difference.
I totally agree with everything SSL488 has said above.
Regarding the comments about CP being the flagship park, I kinda see that, but the gap is not nearly what it once was. KI gives CP a good run for it's money. If there were only better (ie any) on-site lodging options it would be a different story. KI has the highest attendance of any seasonal park in the country (at least according to wiki) at 3.1m visitors a year.
I just got back today from spending the last 4 days there and I say the pros/cons of each park balance each other out and it's a dead heat. This is just one guy's opinion though.
I feel like kings Island only gets more attendance because there is more to do in that general area. There really isn't anything to do out around Cedar Point area except for Cedar Point and those islands. But I doubt that most people who come up there have no idea about the islands.
Having been to KI a ton of times in the last couple years, I have noticed that as opposed to CP, most of the visitors are local and come in with their gold passes.
The immediate area around KI is quite populous, and much more affluent than the area immediately surround CP (no offense to Sandusky residents intended).
It is immediately clear on a hot day at KI when the locals are at the water park to cool off (which is included in admission, unlike soak city at CP). I think it's the water park inclusion, along with all the local repeat visitors, that impacts KI attendance figures. Again this is just my observation having spent 20+ days each at both parks last year, and on pace for the same again this year.
KevinL332 said:I think its unlikely we will get a coaster for 2012 BUT IT IS POSSIBLE!! you can't compare the construction going on at Canada's Wonderland (where they have much harsher and longer winters) to whats CP's plans may be. If you look at Rapter, at the time it was built it was the largest construction project at Cedar Point and they didn't start clearing the three acres of land until after labor day! Sure this was before Halloweekends but even with the park being opened they could do it! Even easier if the land is already flat and mostly clear like the turnpike cars area and removing a building like the old pirate ride. Blue Streak and calypso could close early like Mean Streak did last year so they could close that whole section of the park to begin clearing land, and have footers poured well before the first real freeze.
It's also POSSIBLE that the Browns and Bengals will challenge each other for the AFC title come January, but that doesn’t mean people won't laugh at you for saying it might happen. The Raptor comparison doesn’t apply, as when the park closed after Labor Day in 1993 it was closed for the season; Halloweekends didn't exist for another four years. At that point you had two months of stable weather during which you could begin construction without having to consider guest impact. They also aren't going to close a section of the park during some of the highest attended days of the year, especially a section that houses a Halloween attraction, a roller coaster and a sit down (i.e. high revenue generating) restaurant.

Me: "It's a roller coaster, not a broken clothes hamper."

You have to be coasterbob62 if you go to both parks that many times.
The Cedar Fair park with the most attendance is Canada's Wonderland, it's located in a huge market with next to nothing competition. Back in the day CP was the huge money maker of the chain, but that is not the case any more as many of the other parks are growing their market.
And for everyone saying we need a coaster because it's been 4 years; realize that there are parks (even chain parks) out there that go 10 plus years between coasters. Surprising, I know! :)
