I can't imagine a coaster being possible for next year. Canada's Wonderland project for 2012 started a while ago. Footers have been poured and are continuing to be poured. Track started arriving yesterday. There also has been a teaser page up for at least 3 weeks now. I haven't seen any evidence of this yet this year. Anyone else?

But you never know, maybe they'll just be, announcement next week, make it seem like nothing big, then just all the sudden, BAM!!! Something awesome that will shock us. Could be.... I'm also a huge optimist
I don't see DT going away anytime soon with the money they put into Happy Jacks Toy Factory. I would be content with just an upgrade of anything at Soak City for next year.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the Extreme Sports Stadium be demolished. That is just a huge eyesore now that WS has been put in and the beach and lake have been exposed to that midway, but what to do with that space is anybodys guess.

Who's to say that fire last night wasn't a hint as to where a new ride would go? Seriously, though, that'd be a pretty bold statement.
Are you from Earth?
There is no coaster for next year; it's time to accept it and move on. :)
Promoter of fog.
. Some flat ride. BTW, is there anything on the Chaos site right now?
A stupid basketball challenge. >_>
I don't know, I wouldn't count a coaster out of the question just yet...who's to say it won't be a 4th dimension coaster? (http://www.flickr.com/photos/phototouring/502517799/) Surely they wouldn't have to start construction early to get something like that up by next year?
I highly doubt that a new coaster of any sort is in the works for next year. Kinzel himself stated that there would be a major announcement in 2012. If the subject were for a new (and presumably significant) attraction coming to the park, the timing would probably suggest its opening in 2013, as others here have suggested.
But...
I do think it appropriate to point out that the park has shown the ability to change its plans on a dime. Shoot the Rapids was pushed back by a season and replaced with Starlite Experience due to economic woes at the time. Planet Snoopy, which quite probably had been planned for some years prior to its opening, ended up using refurbished kids' rides from Geauga Lake, which closed eight months before Planet Snoopy opened. So clearly, they have demonstrated the ability to switch gears quickly.
If attendance and per cap improvements this year would support such a move, I don't see it out of the realm of possibility that park management might decide late in the game to upgrade their off-season plans and build a better attraction for 2012 than they had anticipated.
Not suggesting that I believe this. Only that it can't be completely ruled out. And And as Titandwe...whatever his name is...pointed out, there is still time for a limited number of small, off-the-shelf coaster installations to be pressed into service at the last minute.
But I still don't believe it.

It would have to be a very large Zacspin to be worth while at CP, they have very low capacity and the reviews are not that great on them. CP is not going to just throw something up next year just to say they added a ride. No coaster(s) next year. The only additions we could possibly see next year in my opinion, would be a large flat ride or additions to the Snoopy areas, other than that no much of anything else. I for one hope they do no add the Dinosaurs Alive at CP. The island and the surrounding area I more western/mining type theme, fix up what they have now, add some western style buildings and replace the outdated skeletons, make it a walk through if PWE isn't worth running anymore. Plus it would be great at Halloween time too.
Well, the CP Facebook page stated "In just one week, the wait is over! Check back here for 2012 news!" That's 2012 NEWS- not mentioning of any type of ride/attraction with specifics. Maybe the "news" is 2013 plans.
But on the other hand, why would CP announce 2013 when their competitors will know what's happening in the future? I'll bet SFMM already has an inexpensive new coaster planned for when CP opens their next one... just to stay ahead... and nothing else.
Your over thinking this. The announcement with be for 2012 improvements.

-Dinosaurs Alive would be cool in the Paddelwheel. Like some Jurassic Park kind of thing. It would only be good with really nice/sick Animitronics. Going around in a boat. If its like Kings island I will break it down personally. They just built two mistakes. Please not three.
-I would be happy with Dive/Flying/GCI/Intamin or crazy Flat.
-Please no Kiddy ride/cookies/absolutely nothing/Dinosaurs Alive (Like Kings Island)
Instead of Dinosaurs, maybe Cowboy stuff. They can't keep theming the same LOL. It changes every 100 steps.

Thats why they installed that Intamin Zacspin, Green Lantern. Why would a park that already has X2, install another ride of similar experience? Just for a quick one up is all. Maybe the park should focus on quality attractions, and not worry about what the other is doing just to one up them. Luckily CP is doing just that, 3 flat rides Maxair, Skyhawk, Windseeker and a new water ride. CP doesn't need to add a cheap quick coaster just to one up SFMM. Basic park improvements will do just fine for 2012. Would like to see some nice new western style building built in place of some of the old outdated ones back by Maverick/Meanstreak. And please CP tear down the ugly outdated restroom/rental building at the front. So ugly .

I totally 100% agree. Diasater Transport will likely not go anywhere anytime soon and ever since they stopped the water show in the stadium it has been ugly. I remember going and looking through the windows and literaly seeing nothing but water, it was beautiful

I'd like them to do some work on the stadium. Either repainting or refurbishing or just demolishing it and rebuilding it. All Wheels Extreme seems to be a popular show and I think its pretty cool with the lake and WT behind it.
So has anyone decided on whether or not those markings back in the Frontier Trail could have anything to do with 2012? I feel like we just kinda moved on and away from thinking about those...

There will not be a new coaster in 2012. Unless CP invents a magical new kind of concrete that can cure in sub zero temperatures (and wants to pay Adena triple overtime to pour it on weekends and holidays) there is no way a coaster can be constructed between now and May.
Girl: "l want to ride that yellow one again... Twisted Wicker"
Me: "It's a roller coaster, not a broken clothes hamper."
...and anticipointment week 2011 begins, hehe :)
Here is question that struck me recently. look at the last few years:
2007: Maverick
2008: Planet Snoopy
2009: Starlight Experience
2010: Shoot the Rapids
2011: Windseeker
The Paramount acquisition was completed in 2006. Up until that point CP had been considered the "flagship" park of the chain. My question is: what evidence is there that this is still true? Yes they have multiple hotels on site and are generally larger in size, but they certainly don't seem to be spending more in capital improvements than at say Canada's Wonderland for the same period.
The Windseeker addition really struck me as weird for the same reason. CP usually got rides first, then the other parks did in a year or two. Or, a park like Knott's got a prototype (Xcelerator) and then CP built a bigger one (Dragster). Not anymore, Windseeker clones for everyone!
Seems to me CP has become "equal" with other parks in the chain.

I think its unlikely we will get a coaster for 2012 BUT IT IS POSSIBLE!! you can't compare the construction going on at Canada's Wonderland (where they have much harsher and longer winters) to whats CP's plans may be. If you look at Rapter, at the time it was built it was the largest construction project at Cedar Point and they didn't start clearing the three acres of land until after labor day! Sure this was before Halloweekends but even with the park being opened they could do it! Even easier if the land is already flat and mostly clear like the turnpike cars area and removing a building like the old pirate ride. Blue Streak and calypso could close early like Mean Streak did last year so they could close that whole section of the park to begin clearing land, and have footers poured well before the first real freeze.
Like I said I doubt we will see a coaster for 2012 but i would love to be wrong! I read somewhere its possible CP wouldn't hype a new coaster to make sure SFMM doesn't have time to put in a small pre-fab kitty coaster to keep the tittle. perhaps its plausible but I doubt it.
I personally would love to see CP put in a B&M Floorless Dive Machine like Griffon or SheiKra! but if built in the above mentioned area the B&M roar would be defining. Though i have heard B&M started filling there hollow tracks with sand to cut the noise down?
Lastly I may be way behind on this but in looking up the info on Raptor I learned there is a clone called The Monster in France. only difference is no mid ride break trims. I'm not a fan... why clone a coaster when you truly have unlimited options!
