Cedar Point 2012

^It's a fun coaster, why replace it? It's a great starter coaster for the young ones. They all can't be the tallest and fastest. Plus that helix ending is great!

Hey guys I've been a long reader but never really wrote anything but i just had some ideas. Couldn't we just take out CCMR and put in place a more compact and much better themed Vekoma mine ride then also use the land to build a dark rides similar to Black Diamond or Lost Coaster on Superstition Mountain?

That idea would work if there was a major problem with Cedar Creek Mine Ride. Replacing it with the same thing would really do anything for the park. But if CP were going to do that, building something like Adventure Express at Kings Island would be awesome. That is the best mine ride I have ever been on.

I'm not a fan of Mine ride type coasters, especially considering the one at CP could is located on a spot that could serve as an ideal position for a new "Major" coaster like Maverick or Millenium. (And its not like they don't have enough "kid" coasters already; Disaster Transport, Wildcat, Woodstock express, and Jr.Gemini)

What would be neat is if they built the new coaster with the same theme as the mine ride, maybe call it "Minefall" and have its "signature" be multiple 90 degree 250 foot high hills or something.
:p. A turntable mid=way through the ride would rotate your "mine" cars around which would result in the remainder of the ride being experienced while riding backwards. That last part may be pushing it a bit, but I can always hope, haha.

The last part is pushing it a bit, but multiple 250 feet tall hills? Piece of cake.....

The only problem with Mine Ride is the height requirement of 48. If they were to replace the ride, I would suggest something like Great Adventures. Perfect height requirement and what I think is a nice layout for kids. Cedar Point needs more rides (coasters) for the family, not Taller, Faster, Extreme, and hopefully the new CEO will see this.

LOL, told ya. Wouldn't that be cool though? The few times I've ridden a coaster that went backwards (boomerang coasters) it was quite enjoyable. I'd love to see them take it to the next level by combining the backwards deal with a full length-full size coaster.

And yeah, I'm sure the height would be no problem. Though I think it's important (at least for cedar point) to give each coaster its own "unique" trademark that you can't find on every ride. Because the last thing they want to hear guests say is "It's like millennium force, but 50 feet shorter".

Like "Gemini" and such? Yeah, that would be nice. Though I still believe Cedar point is in need of another "large" coaster, especially considering the last one to be built was nearly 4 years ago in 2007 with Maverick.

Really? And we don't have enough "adult" coasters? Maverick, Mean Streak, Millie, Magnum, Mantis, Gemini, Wicked Twister, Raptor, Corkscrew, Blue Streak. All with 48" plus height requirements.

Jr Gemini is only good for small tots, Disaster Transport and Iron Dragon are the only 2 coaster with a 46" height requirement CP needs more 44"-46" coasters. Keep Mine Ride, replace the trains to accomadate 44-46 heights.

I think something like Wooden Warrior at Quassy would be a great family addition. Maybe alittle longer and of course got to have great capacity at CP (duel racing maybe). It would also be nice to have a small flat ride package from someone like Mondial or Huss CP could use so more flats that the entire family could enjoy, rides like Matterhorn or Troika. Kiddie rides from Zamperla are great for the small ones, but Mom and Dad have to stand back and watch, hows that a family attraction.

Yeah they really need to lower height limit. You could go on that ride without a harness or seatbelt, and still be safe. Plus a guy (6'2'' Around 200 lbs) got stuck and broke seatbelt! C'mon Man!! I want another thrill Flat Ride (Skyhawk,Maxair) Those are only rides that scare me in park. And I love it. They should put one near Gemini/Magnum or near Meanstreak. Also, everytime I have ever ridden Mine Ride, there have been more parents then children. Or at least Taller people. There is no thrill and my 7 year sister said it was her least favorite this year. LOL

Considering I don't have kids (yet), I suppose I've never run across that issue. Yes, it would suck if your family was limited to those two rides, for that reason I agree that a coaster with a 44"-46" would be beneficial to some; however, I don't think the mine ride is worth it, CP is space challenged, they could always add a more compact (and more thrilling) 44"-46" elsewere to allow for a new "large" coaster in Mineride's area that would appeal to the masses.

There is no thrill and my 7 year sister said it was her least favorite this year. LOL

In addition to the Mineride, I'd like to see corkscrew go...it's really not as appealing as it used to be, the "upside down" hype that it was built on is gone, and coasters aren't made with that as their centerpiece anymore. It's too short and bumpy, I haven't rode it in years. And that Meanstreak...I love that ride, I just wish it was smoother! They should really re-do the tracks or get new train cars! *end of rant*

Oo! Flying coaster please!! (Or a new flat ride, something wild!)

I agree there's too many rumors going around about the dino attraction and it being paddle wheels last year going on to get excited about next year. But you never know they might be putting up the dino attraction and maybe getting our gci on the beach, or our dive coaster will see. These are just rumors and i'm sure that everybody has heard them.

or our dive coaster will see.

This would be cool. I've never ridden a dive coaster before.

They might be able to fit it on the right side of disaster transport...if they take out the games and eliminate a bit of the parking lot that "juts" past the entrance gate.

If you look on at the posts on the Facebook page, some guy is talking about how B&M is sending a coaster.

^^ They are kinda a one hit wonder and I think the Point already has a 400ft. one of these. Sorry Adam....

B&M Dive coasters are awesome, i've rode Griffon at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, VA it is awesome. What i am hearing is that it will be at the front of the park. They would take turnpike cars out and would redirect cadillic cars. I'm not sure if there enough room there but is what im hearing.

I also think that maybe between the Blue Streak, Calypso midway, turnpike cars and the cadillic cars there might be enough room for it but with Raptor it will be hard.

They would have to move calypso to another area in the park, but i think they would do that for coaster space. But honestly i don't see this happening next year, even if they are planing on doing it.

Corkscrew Follies's avatar

I just don't see a dive coaster fitting in that section of the park. Doesn't really matter they would have had to start removal by now for it to be a reality in 2013.

Who's to say that fire last night wasn't a hint as to where a new ride would go? Seriously, though, that'd be a pretty bold statement.

Another 3 point challenge is on the chaos site.
