I personally would be interested in checking out the Dinosaurs attraction but I feel it is a bit strange if they have it at Kings Island and Cedar Point, a bit close together for an attraction like that, I do agree and feel if they added dinosaurs, not just statues but interactive ones to PE it could be a really different type ride, make it kind of like JAWS at Universal. I can't see CP doing this though.

Alright everyone is talking about this being Paddle wheel Excursions last year. I certainly hope not because it would lose the charm of a family attraction that Cedar Point still has left. I thought of something though. What if they were to keep the Paddle Wheel Excursions, but add to the excitement by adding the dinosaurs on the Island? In my imagination thought process, wouldn't it be cool being on Paddle Wheel Excursions and all of the sudden a big huge T-Rex starts roaring at you? Something like that would be more creative then what Kings Island added this year!

This is really like the the third year in the row where Paddlewheel and/or CCMR are going to be taken out and replaced. I personally don't think anything is going to be built in that area at all. The area between Blue Streak and Raptor seems much more likely.

I brought this up about 20 pages back along with many many others. You're not the first to think of it. But it would be a very good idea.

Both areas need to be revamped. We went to back of park first, and there were only three rides really. Maverick, Mean Streak, and Skyhawk (Iguess water rides too.) They need a ride right where CCMR is, or Antique Cars..

Possible rides taken out in future:

Wildacat
Disaster Transport (If nothing is done with it.)
Antique Cars or Turnpike Cars
PaddleWheel
Calypso (Probably moved if anything) (Maybe near Gemini)

One of those should be gone next year. We will all see.....

I say wild cat goes.... To many accidents.

Aren't most of these dinosaur things traveling (temporary) exhibits? If they do come to CP and knock Paddlewheel out, I wouldn't mind seeing the ride come back as totally revamped after the dinos leave.

There already are rides in those locations. :)

What I find interesting is that the comments by readers of the Register article are more or less exactly the same thing we have been saying here on Point Buzz about family attractions at Cedar Point.

About the Dinosaurs, in addition to the Detroit exhibits, the Cleveland Zoo has had dinosaur exhibits for two or three years in past years, though they don't have an exhibit this year. But, that is two major markets in CP's area that have had exhibits. I don't think dinosaurs at CP would go over that well.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I agree with Pete. The Cleveland Zoo had the same dinosaur exhibit for many years, and before that, Sea World Ohio (or maybe Six Flags had taken over by then) had it for a few years as well. Maybe it's me, but I find it to be a cheesy exhibit. I say just fill in the lagoon and add future attractions. I the lagoon portion were filled in behind Camp Snoopy/Dragster hill, in front of the MF turnarounds, a good size coaster could fit in there....plus the Paddlewheel Excursions que could be used.

I don't believe Cedar Point has complete autonomy over the lagoons. I think the Army Corps of Engineers and or the EPA might have a say in the matter. I don't know that for a fact, but I recall it being discussed in my years at the Point.

That's true. Before Cedar Point started building Mantis, they had to obtain a permit from the Army Corps of Engineers. The park was required to enhance two acres of wetlands for acre affected. I believe they fulfilled that requirement at East Harbor State Park.

I know it ran during the final year for SWO, as I remember getting caught in a torrential downpour while in the middle of the exhibit.

Haha, I like Wilcat though...Mineride should go, im my opinion...it takes up a lot of area and is painfully boring.

I really hope CP adds a flying coaster. I rode Firehawk at King's Island and LOVED it.

Ever park needs a moderate coasters/rides, and every park needs a mine train coaster. Mine Ride fills both needs quite well, I'd say.

I wouldn't want a vekoma flyer, I'd want a B&M flyer.
I like wildcat too. But hasn't it had like three accidents this year already?

If they were to take out mine ride. I would want a nice wooden coaster to take its place. It would make Frontier Town look very nice.

Vekoma rides are not too capacity-friendly either...

Hey guys I've been a long reader but never really wrote anything but i just had some ideas. Couldn't we just take out CCMR and put in place a more compact and much better themed Vekoma mine ride then also use the land to build a dark rides similar to Black Diamond or Lost Coaster on Superstition Mountain?
