Everything needs to be updated at some point, and just because people still go to SC regardless, doesn't make it exempt from an update. I think its WAY OVERDUE! I would welcome that for next year, hell, i would've welcomed that over STR.

Generally speaking, capital investments need to be justified in terms of ROI. Unless capital investment in Soak City would result in an attendance boost, or alternatively, attendance would drop without capital investment, there's no financial justification. They're not going to build something new & shiny just because you think it's WAY OVERDUE.
Well, unless you're willing to foot the bill. ;)

They may not build something shiny and new, but they may relocate something blue/green/orange/purple/blue and all twisty....or something funnel-shaped.
Promoter of fog.
How about a record breaking S&S 4 across launch coaster like they have built in China (Extreme Rusher and Snowfield)!!! The Extreme Rusher POV looks insane! It's like a "B&Mintamin" launch coaster!!!
I think we will definitely be seeing something new in Soak City next season... look at all of the marks under the speed slides and all over the east side. Maybe Challenge Park will get something too, but hopefully not meaning that Skyscraper hits the road to continue its tour of CF parks...

The only way I would be excited about Skyscraper leaving would be if Challenge Park brought in a Slingshot...
I would love to see one of those at Cedar Point.
I hope SC gets something like that big funnel at Wild Water Kingdom. If Soak City were to get something like that, I hope they can find a way to have a greater number of riders per hour.
It's not like they can install a mid-course brake run. I'm not sure what you can do to give those a higher capacity aside from installing more than one or making the ride shorter.

New slides like the Proslide Topsy Turvy can run 3-6 tubes at once. I have also seen Proslide Tornados run 2 rafts in the slide at once; the second raft is dispatched after the first one goes into the funnel. Some new slides now have sensors that allow more than one person to be on the slide at once.

Yes, I said it was WAY OVERDUE, which was just a statement that it (soak city) being updated would make sense. However, the reason I believe it is being updated is because of the markings all over. I know the markings could be for other reasons, but that seems far fetch considering the amount. Look further into the context next time before trying to pick apart one fragment of it.
Please, also remember that water park attendance is affected just as much, if not more, by the weather than an amusement parks. Considering that last year was one of the hottest years in a while was probably a big reason for the high attendance. That does not mean that these guest will think it’s a good water park, recommend it to others, ect. There is more to think about than, “well it was busy last year,” when you are trying to build up a resort.
Actually, a blocking system would be a good idea, well for longer slides... You could have a "half way pool" where the raft will reach a small pool with a gate blocking the rest of the ride. Once the raft in front of it gets to the "final pool" the gate in the "halfway pool" will open and allow the raft to continue on.
Looks like CW is thinking about 2012. I think we're officially out of the loop :(

It really isn't a blocking system. It is just a sensor that can be placed on the slide to allow another tube/person go down. Most slides do have sensors, but are located towards the end of the slide. I am not sure if CP does it this way, but some water slides just have a lifeguard at the bottom switch the traffic signals at the top of the water slide.

This saddens me :(

Unless of course the existing rides an infrastructure are reaching the end of their serviceable life. I'm not suggesting this is the case for Soak City, but the east side where the markings are is now more than 20 years old, so it could be feasible.
I wouldn't mind seeing an addition to Challenge Park either, although slingshots don't excite me in the least so I'd hope for something else. Maybe some Xtreme Trampolines! ;)
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it just uses a lot of proximity sensors, but it may be more than that. Wildebeest at Holiday World uses LIMs to propel the rafts, so I'm sure a blocking system is not nearly as complicated as that.

I was recently at Soak City, at Bubbles sitting at the bar, and it seemed like many people used room keys to purchase drinks. I think Soak City is very important to keep resort guests that extra night because Soak City generates interest among the resort guests. Keeping Soak City fresh, with new attractions will not only increase or keep water park attendance stable, but will encourge guests to spend more nights in the CP resorts. Updating Soak City seems like a smart thing to do with very good ROI.

than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
