Where did this stinger name come from?

Stratasoar and Stinger are both names that Cedar Fair has trademarked. Stratasoar last year some time and Stinger very recently. It could be a name of a new ride, attraction, or any number of things at any of thier parks.

+1

It just seems like guessing what's in the brightly colored boxes under the tree but not being able to find out for sure until the King [of coasters] is born riles people up more than anything. The euphoria of exploring the closet of hidden gifts that don't exist yet gets people the most excited. Everyone has that one gift that they really wanted and got. It's enjoyable until the next big thing is advertised. Then the previous awesome thing takes a back seat.

Take that, profundity!

EDIT: I believe I have inadvertently described the plot of Toy Story...

A spoiler alert would have been nice! ;)

Was stratosoar ever even used? If not, stratosoar seems like it could be used fir a name of a flying coaster of some sort. Such as firehawk at kings island or manta at sea world. To me, stinger seems like more of a kiddie coaster name.

A vast majority of my searching was done from the rides, the same rides that are the reason I visit CP weekend after weekend despite the 3.5 hour drive and gas at $3.75 a gallon(in MI). LOL! I would still visit CP just as much next season even if they didn't get a new attraction, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be awesome if they did!

The speculation was that Stratasoar was going to be the name of what is now Windseeker. Personally I though that maybe Stratasoar would be for only Kings Island's Windseeker since they just put in the dinosaur attraction.

Stinger is also the name of a surface to air missle. So, it could easily be applied to an adult attraction.

I just hope that doesn't mean they plan on building another Intamin Rocket coaster.

I thought that as well and that could still be a possibility since KI is already rumored to be announcing some kind of "add-on" to Dinosaurs Alive next season...

I would hope that a vekoma would never be put in at the point, but could Stinger be for a Vekoma Stingray?

Stratasoar could've also been for the 400+ ft (hence Strata) starflyer they may have been looking at. Remembering the Funtimes debacle makes me wonder if they were far enough in talks about it, that they had already even named them.

My guess is for the new name of Dorney's Invertigo.

I saw some spraypainted markings in behind-the-scenes places during work the other night, and they're somewhat large areas. And there's quite a few of them. It may not mean anything significant, though.

Where is Behind the scenes at CP? Or are you talking about a different park.

I think he means the areas that sweeps and other personnel go through.

Yeah, sorry for the vagueness. I mean in an employee-only area.

Oh okk. I'm not really sure where that is.. Is it around where that newer office building is?

The "behind the scenes" or backstage areas are any areas where guests are not permitted. It's not any one specific area.

Oh I seee. Well if we get a new ride there, it won't be so behind the scenes. :)

JuggaLotus's avatar

Maybe. Markings in backstage areas could just be for utilities so they know where to tie in for a new ride that is close to, but not in, that location.

Just a thought, but if the "Stratosoar" thing was going to KI, wouldn't it be "Stratosaur" to match the dinosaur thing?
