Maybe it's just me, haha.
And about the GW, that's a perfect example of what I hope Ouimet improves (being incorporated in a Disney atmosphere.)
And just out of curiosity, does anyone know what those buildings are in between the Corkscrew lift hill/drop/loop area and the Hotel Breakers parking lot? I know some are for hotel management and storage, but it seems like a very large area of buildings to me.
It is mostly storage warehouses. Plus there is the new headquarters building, but that is next to Scrambler.
I am actually at Disney world right now and I wennt to the magic kingdom park today.
All I have to say is SPACE MOUNTAIN and SPLASH MOUNTAIN. what are these rides? These rides are themed extremely well and comparing splash mountain and shoot the rapids, splash mountain kills shoot the rapids. I know cedar point would never be able to pull off a splash mountain but they should seriously consider putting in some better effort when it comes to themeing.
BTW we all saw the simulation of maverick when it was released. Do you guys remember all that themeing that was there? Well where the hell is it? It looked to me like there was goin to be a lot more rocks and some sort of waterfall type thing somewhere. also, where did the lights in the tunnel go? And last time I was there there was no music playing in the queue line.
I'm beginning to believe that at CP, a ride's "Theming" is a big slush fund that is the first thing robbed when the builders hit a cost overrun.

I'm new here (1st post!) but I've been reading for years as I am a coaster junkie! But I have an opinion on this thread...I was at the park today and although I know the summer season is still young I searched high and low for any signs of any land clearing, markings, steaks, etc. and unfortunetly I found nothing. However I did not ride Thunder Canyon (as my group didn't want to) so I can neither confirm nor deny any activity in that area. As for the area near Raptor/Blue Streak I didn't see any new activity there either. If a 2012 coaster is coming I honestly would have expected to see a lot more clearing if either of the suspected locations will be having such a major overhaul. Land clearing for Maverick started at the end of 05' with WWL. And in my visit to CP in June 2009 I could see a lot of changes had taken place in the area where STR now sits. I'm really hoping we new coaster in 2012 but I think 2013 will be when CP finally builds number 18. As we all know Kinzel is out in January, so if he didn't plan on going out with a bang we will have to wait to new what our new CEO will bring as his inagural coaster installation. But for now I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a surprise coaster next season! Kinzel and Intamin's love affair has kept me happy with their shining stars (WT,Mav,TTD,MF), and this year even their ugly stepchild (STR) was enjoyable! (Not much new in the theming department but it is the most highly themed attraction in the park now so that gives it a different vibe) If we don't get a coaster as Kinzel's last farewell I just hope that Ouimet doesn't make us CP fanboys and coaster enthusiast wait another 4 years for a new coaster while he transforms our "Thrill Park" into a "Resort Destination".

The building in that area that looks similar to a hotel, but more like a prison, is Golds Employee Dorms. Wardrobe is located on the Scrambler side of all of those buildings. However, the majority of what you see is maintenance; their offices, work space, and warehouses.

I actually think that Mr. K would let the new guy come in with a bang by the addition of a coaster in his first season. Kinzel has done great things for this park and doesn't really need to leave with a huge attraction behind him. In my opinion, he should let the new guy have the coaster.
You must be speaking of a different unreleated Kinzel who runs a different Cedar Point.
Because the one who runs this Cedar Point wouldn't be that selfless.

Does anyone go to ride what's already there?

I had that illness once. Couldn't get off the pot for days. Sure was pretty to look at in the bowl though.
