When Kinzel mentioned that there would be an announcement a year from May, that should have put the "is a coaster coming for next year question" to rest.

Well I for one would like to see a dark ride. Something like this http://www.coasterfriends.de/forum/eure-tripreports-unsere-freude/3090-van-helsing-s-factory-eroeffnungs-tour-mit-indoor-photos.html would suffice.
Ride-on
^^It looks like an awesome ride, but I hate the looks of the building.
I can wait until 2013 for a coaster. But not any longer than that. I would like to see either a new wooden coaster. If it is not a woodie, I really think CP needs something that is like either Firehawk at KI or something like Manta at Sea World in Orlando.

To be fair, Kinzel said there would be a surprise, which could indicate an announcement or an opening. ;)

I hope it means that it will be the opening of it. It very well could be. After all, windseeker opened after coaster mania. So it isnt impossible
I am in the "coaster for 2013" boat as well. There are currently 2 parks that are confirmed to be getting B&M coasters next year (Dollywood, Parc Asterix), and they already have clearing and footers being poured, with Parc Asterix also already with some station track up and lift hill beginning. Then Hershey Park has an Intamin going in, and it too also already has clearing and footers being poured. Then there is one other park with a rumored B&M (Thorpe Park) that has massive clearing occurring already. Cedar Point has none of this, we have random stakes in the ground, and even that could be for something only maintenance related. I think the time limit for starting site prep on a coaster has passed.

That is a very good point. Next coaster that comes to cp may require removal of a ride or a few rides it kinda seems like they have run out of "open" space.

Why not any longer? Will you explode?

I think the building for Van Helsing's Factory is bad arse. It fits with the theme they were going for and the inside looks even more delightful. It's also cool to see they decided to litter the inside of the ride area with scenery. My hats off to Movie Park Germany for a great looking ride.....that is IF I wore hats. I'd love to see something like this at CP.....even though I know it won't happen ::cough cough:: Ouimet ::cough cough::

TTD120, after your last "Dark Ride" experience, I thought you would have sworn them all off for good ;)

A "surprise" would mean something unexpected occurring. How unexpected would a coaster announcement be once that coaster has been completely built and we're already a few weeks into the season? :)
Brandon
I'm not sure so I'll ask, when have they announced a new ride for the following season that early? I remember seeing TTD being built prior to the announcement. Also, we all followed Maverick for almost a full year, beginning with WWL's removal. I agree it might be a little too late to start a big project for 2012 but not impossible.

That would be somewhat early for a ride announcement for the following year. Of course, they may not announce specifics about the 2013 attraction at that time, instead simply acknowledging the land clearing (or whatever obvious evidence there is) and saying they'll announce 2013's new whatever later in the 2012 season.
The point is that announcing a new ride for the 2012 season in June 2012 (which is when Kinzel made his "this time next year" comment, if memory serves) makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Couple that with the fact there's zero evidence indicating anything major coming for next year (land clearing, ride removal, etc.), and the odds for a new major attraction next year are dismal at best.
Brandon
^I can agree with that. I didn't realize people were assuming that a "June 2012 announcement" would be for 2012. That doesn't make any sense at all.
