Cedar Point 2012

There going to totally remove soak city and put in a new intamin prefab woody. There will be a sign stating if you want a water park go to Geauga Lake.

You mean Wild Water Kingdom. ;) Geagua Lake died years ago.

Until there is more to see I will withhold from trying to explain anything. :)

As for Soak City, I unfortunately think that it is more plausible that WWK would be closing and some slides would be moved to Soak City. If anything at all. I went to Soak City for the first time in over a decade last year, and have no plans to ever go back.

I suppose it does what it is supposed to do (cater to the resort guests by giving them another option), but as far as a water-park in and of itself, it's abysmal.

New or re-located, who cares! SC needs something "new". I'd rather have a WWL type flume, but SC is overdue for something.

They should have closed wild water kingdom and not geauga lake. Just thought I would throw that out there. I thin that any markings near SC would not be fir any type of ride for cedar point.

Like people on the forum have stated before, Soak City probably will not get anything until attendance goes down. According to the 2010 Theme Index, Soak City is listed as #19 for the 20 most popular waterparks in the US. I wish they added a Proslide Bowl or one of those racing slides though.

Was it really ranked 19?? What was typhoon lagoon and blizzard beach from Disney ranked??

Typhoon Lagoon-1
Blizard Beach-2

Here is the whole attendance study/report:http://www.themeit.com/etea/2010Report.pdf

^^Thank you

I think being ranked 19th out of 20 is a good enough reason to say "Hey, let's do better and do a massive remodeling of Soak City!" :)

That being said, I too saw the large amount of markings inside SC and I hope it's for some kind of future improvements. I really want to see new life brought there. It may be popular, but it's sooooo bland and blah. An expansion and or massive re haul could REALLY do wonders and maybe even kick it up that ranking a bit. :)

First of all, Geauga Lake was murdered by a very greedy old man.

Anyways, I don't see them closing Thunder Canyon. Doesn't CP want 3 water rides? If they do close it, that's a nice piece land to work with.

Soak City is nice, way overpriced though. It seems very bland. All the water slides are the same, boring color. As WWK is very beautiful (credit goes to Sea World), clean and colorful. SC and WWK are in desperate need of a new attraction. My theory with WWK is that by the time Dick retires, WWK will be no more. He will retire in happiness now that he destroyed all of Geauga Lake. Most, if not all of GL's slides will be moved to SC. I don't want this to happen, but I have a feeling it might.

To reiterate what I mentioned before, CP's next coaster whether it be in 2012, 2013 or whatever, has to be a wooden coaster. A nice compact GCI makes sense in the Thunder Canyon location in Frontier Town.

As for the area by Blue Streak, I'm not entirely sure what they are going to do here. They need to do something in the coming years to draw more attention to this area.

Here's my prediction:
2012: Relocation on WildWater Kingdom slides to Soak City. PLUS a GCI woodie in the current Thunder Canyon location.

2013: Removal of the two car rides next to Blue Streak and Raptor, relocate Calypso, remove the old Pirate Ride building for a new attraction I'm not sure of. PLUS Removal/Remodel of Kiddie Kingdom to make room for a new attraction.

The only thing that scares me about a possible coaster where TC is, is all the damn trees that they will remove to put one in. Look at all the other parks that work around the trees, removing only the necessary ones. Work with the trees CP, they are your friends!

-I feel that Kinzel didn't kill the park, but Cedar Fair shouldn't have bought it in the first place. Premier Parks killed the park when they turned it into a thrill park. If Six Flags wouldn't have had a buyer for the park, it would have probably closed when Six Flags filed for Chapter 11.
-Why give credit to SeaWorld for the colorful atmospehere at Wildwater Kingdom? SeaWorld only had aquatic shows and playgrounds when it was around; there was no water park. Cedar Fair actually added a wave pool, and the slide tower in 2005-2006.

I have to agree and wouldn't be surprised if Wildwater Kingdom does close though.

I think the people of aurora, Ohio killed the park. They would always be complaining about noise levels and traffic.

Bingo! I'm glad that someone has said something similar to what I said.a few pages back. Keep the trees!! I just want to point out that adding a wooden roller coaster is on my wish list as well. However, I don't believe Cedar Point will remove Thunder Canyon. The reason I say that is because on those hot sunny days, people are going to the closest water ride that will get them the wettest. Thunder Canyon gets you wet. In my opinion, Frontier Trail is a nice peaceful trail along that should be untouched. :) We should build this new wooden roller coaster over by Disaster Transport.

Actually, that all goes to Cedar Fair.

I think he meant the landscaping and waterfalls that have been around since the Sea World era. Wildwater Kingdom has a nice atmosphere compared to the concrete area of Soak City.
