Walt recorded the audio from Dick's speach and his follow up R&A.

If you skip ahead to 30:14, you will hear him say, "next year at this time, John will have a suprise for you"

Amazing....

Well now I would say that it is pretty safe to say that there will not be a coaster in the 2012 season.

You may be right. But for me, I dont think that comment indicates that a coaster is coming in 2013 and not 2012. Something about the way he said it makes me feel like its coming for 2012.

Well, I guess there's three ways you can look at this. We are gonna have a brand new coaster sitting here for 2012. There gonna have an announcement for a 2013 rollercoaster next year at this time. Or it's just a crazy old guy making up stuff. Kinzel says alot of stuff, but we have seen that it isn't always true

^^That's very true. A new coaster could be there fir the 2012 coastermania and that would be his announcement. However, if we don't see some clearing or any signs of construction in the next month or month and a half, I don think there will be one for 2012.

^Unless the area is already clear. The turnpike cars have very few trees and the old pirate ride building will be easy to take down. They easily could start in September and still be ready by opening day 2012. (well... maybe by opening day...)

The thing is, if they were to put a roller coaster over there, I think it would look very very crammed with blue streak and raptor right there.

I'm not so sure that is an issue. To me, the giant twisted pieces of steel throughout the park is what makes the place so great. The more there is the happier ill be!

Although that's one websites speculation for a new ride location, all the construction flags (utility markers) have been popping up at the north end of Frontier Trail around Thunder Canyon.

Removing the Pirate Ride building would not be easy. There's too much stuff in there that would have to be relocated...I think that's Park Services, there may be some Security, also the computer for the Blue Streak, and some other "back of house" functions. All stuff that could be relocated, but you know how strongly inertia works at the Point...

Has anyone else noticed the markings in Soak City? I was there last week and there were a lot of red markings, presumably marking power lines. Still, though, I wonder if those have anything to do with...whatever awaits.

I'm sorry to say, however, that I do not have any pictures of said markings.

I have to agree that something new will most likely be around the FT markings. Thunder canyon could be a possible roller coaster location. Although I think a roller coaster there would call fir some massive clearing of trees. And I wouldn't really want to see that.

When i saw the FT markings I just assumed these were markings for Starlight Experience stuff. There is more than just lights. Also speakers, decorations, the floats, etc...a lot of stuff that needs placed just right.

Promoter of fog.

That could very well be true. But I don't recall seeing any of those markings last year before the starlight.

^ I also dont remember those last year. But even if those are for the starlight experience, how can you explain the two or three stakes back in the woods by thunder canyon? Only time will tell I guess...
