Article said they get $310 for the cabins there. Are they talking about the ones they haven't built yet? I didn't think the cabins they have now had 3 beds. I can't imagine a 3 bed cabin costing less than a suite. Says 2014 Lighthouse Point expansion right on the print.
About 4-5 days ago I went back and pretty sure Tony deleted his post. I kinda took that as his information was misguided. It's too bad that the park didn't anounce it themselves. It's not like we didn't know it was closing. I'm glad that I finally get to know though. What's really going on. Not the end of the world.
Just have to take longer trips and see more of the lake. 4 hours in the morning and 4 at night for 4 days. Probably save some money staying at East Harbor. That will help with the cost of the platinums. Might just visit KI more this year anyways with them getting a big ride. Breakers will still be there if I want to stay onpoint for a night. I'm not going to pay $110/night for basic electric campsite though. Only have a popup. Going to miss camping there though. If I stay overnight somewhere I prefer to be able to cook. Only place I stay in hotels anymore is at a casino. They will comp you enough to eat for free most the time and sometimes the rooms free too. but that's a different market and those rooms sometimes aren't cheap either.
The current CP cabins do have three beds, one in the bedroom, two pull out couches in the living area, and then they also have the loft. I remember when they were new they said they comfortably sleep 6-8 ha. Maybe 8 Sardines... I always stay in the cabins when I stay on point because they are cheaper then a suite most days.
I wouldn't be surprised if they make some more announcements at the Winter Chill Out event.

I agree it's not good news for RVers. Fewer spaces at a more expensive price. Since we don't like to tow a car we always look for attractions that have the camping on site.

I don't recall the cabins having two bathrooms.

This is very disappointing. I guess we'll be staying at other campgrounds from now on. I'm in the same boat as some others in that we have a pop-up and have no need for full hook-ups.
The new section is going to get sold out quickly each season now with the supply of campsites cut by roughly 60%. Glad I have all my reservations in for this season.

You are correct sir...after looking at it in detail these do have a second bathroom, one pull out couch instead of two futons in the living room and the loft actually has two beds in it which the current cabins do not.
Also, I think in the original cabins, the kitchenette is located in the middle of the cabin, rather than in the living area.
Probably a smart move to have 2 bathrooms, given that these can hold several people. Of course, without a larger water heater, or better yet, an instant hot water heater, there's still an issue with showering.

Will these still have the midget showers, or will they finally be tall enough where I can actually stand up without hitting my head on the ceiling?

I have all my reservations in also, but can only afford 3 trips instead of four since the rates are higher with the full hook ups. Once the news hits the general public, all the available campsites will be booked. I feel sure there are many yearly campers who are not on this forum and will learn too late that campsites are going to be hard to reserve.

I might have to consider selling the 5th wheel and getting a boat and put at the marina. I hear Pete enjoys the marina....

This keeps getting more and more disappointing as time goes on with the new management. It is no longer possible to take a larger family to the park. They hiked up the season passes to almost $1000 for a family of five. Now they are up to about $100 a night to camp there.I know it is a business, however they are pricing local families out of the park. This year my family got season passes to Kennywood and Dollywood for quite a bit less than just Cp. Our vacations usually surrounded a Cedar fair park. Not this year and it is a shame because we do love the park.Snoopy is no Mickey Mouse or Goofy for that matter.

Very much so, I think you have an excellent plan!
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I see where your coming from, I still think season passes are a great deal. Lodging options are expensive but the park has very limited space to increase resort revenues. It's a logical decision to update the existing camper village to make more money off of the same space. There are always off point hotels/campgrounds.

I hear ya, we're a family of four and we'll probably reach your limit next year.
