As it was mentioned to thepoint4life23 by Vanessa, perhaps you should first write your post in a word processing program, and then run the spelling and grammer check before posting on the forum.

It is difficult to take someone seriously who cannot be bothered to use appropriate spelling and grammer.

Regardless of how valid your points are, or how thought provoking your questions may be, people will overlook your posts completely if you cannot be bothered to write intelligently.

I don't mean to be cruel, but if you read the rules of conduct for this forum correct spelling and grammer is considered a must.

Thanks

HHR, I doubt it will be up by friday. I won't say that it won't be, but it is highly unlikely. Secondly the cable doesn't burn but the bearings on the pulley do heat up. I would imagine that there are multiple reasons they dont use a coated cable, among them that the coating could melt as it passes over a heated drum, and secondly that if the coating separates it could do more damage than a snapped cable.

is that the reason smoke comes out of the engine room right before the train reaches that point on the launch?

Its not smoke (rideman back me up on this?) but mist used to cool the pulleys. If you notice there is a spray at the very end where the main drum is, but there is also a spray at the starting line where the back pulley for returning the catch car is located.

JuggaLotus, you are correct in identifying the spray at the end of the launch track. The water that sprays at the launch area is just residual water being sprayed off of the cable as the train launches.

OK as I said way in the beginning of this post, I hope the injured riders will not look for damages from Cedar Point. Well watching the late news up here in Detroit I believe it was Channel 7 had an interview with a friend of the injured party. Now the girl not that it has anything to do with anything looked like she might be missing a few teeth and could use some heavy grooming, but anyway the way she was describing things and as she was being OOOVER dramatic it sounded like the guy was "PinHead" from the movie "Hell raiser" now come on chicky I don’t know who to believe the Over exhorting news or this toothless country girl. She claims she will never ride another roller coaster again. Now I look at it is one less girl in front of me in line and that’s a good thing. Now if there was only a way to get rid of the High Maintenance looking girls in skirts and heals fixing there hair, but I am not saying they don’t look hot, but save it for the club sweetheart.

How long does it take for CP to repair the cable on TTD? On a lot of the news articles that I have read, I am noticing that they are just going to repair the cable and that further investigations are not required. How long does it usually take for CP to receive the cable and to install it? Do you think they will be installing a cable shortly? (today or tomorrow). I am sure they want to open the ride as soon as possible so I am thinking that they will repair the ride sometime before the weekend. Thats just my opinion. When does everyone else think that the ride will be re-opened? (theyre just fixing the cable, right?)...

I'm sure they are looking at the situation a bit more than just a cable replacement. Even if this was a freak occurance, I'd think that they would want to prevent it from happening again.
I agree, that this is more than just a cable replacement. However, most of the comments made by Cedar Point have made it seem like the only reason why this happened was because of the cable. It feels as though they think that by replacing the cable they would be correcting the problem. This is just my take on this. Does anyone feel this way too??

Replacing the cable will fix the problem, until that one wears out. They'd like to find out what happened to the cable, ie what was it rubbing against that caused it to fray. If it turns out that it was just worn out and neede replacing, then they'll probably shorten their replacement time. I don't expect this downtime to be like a normal cable replacement though, they want to know why it frayed and sent fragments up into the path of the train.

Does anyone think it'll be up by Wednesday?
As much as it pains me to say this, I really, really hope not. I'd much rather CP & Intamin keep Dragster down and fix all of the various problems (cable, hydraulic, catch car, etc.) once and for all before they open it back up. I will definitely keep riding Dragster once it's open, but I would prefer to have the peace of mind to know that the cable won't be shearing off metal shards again.

Im going on Sunday and Monday and I keep praying that the ride will be open. Im keeping my fingers crossed!!! I live 9 hours away from CP and I wont be able to go again until next summer. Its a must on my yearly "to-do" list to ride TTD. I am sure all of you would feel the same way if you were about to drive 9 hours to the park so you can ride the ride!!!

Another story.........

Just as I am posting this, I am watching my local ABC news, much better story, and they said coming up at six, they are going to have the state department on explaining why this was not an accident, and why there WILL be an investigation.

Way too much conflicting information! If I find a live stream of that, I'll post it.

Let's go straight to the Merry-Go-Round!

not that i'm an expert but what i think happend was there was a notch in the cable that happend sometime after the mechanic inspected the ride and that caused the cable to shatter but i don't know for sure but it seems logical to me.
How was it not an accident currentlydown? It was planned right? Wrong, why would Cedar Point want to get sued by angry people?
I didn't say that, that's what is coming up on the news at 6. I'll let you know what the heck they are talking about. Everyone is saying something different!

Let's go straight to the Merry-Go-Round!

I want to see the people, i mean after the ride . if this happed to me i would be mad. i dont think i would stop ridding roller coaster. Some one said one of the girls was missing teeth, that make me think that there in it for money. the first ad workers could of been nices to them but, they could be saying that they were bad to try to get stuff from cedar point. it wrong but it the way it is out there.
Sorry currentlydown I misunderstood.
