I know of healthy people that grey out and even experience tunnel vision in the overbank after hill 1 (including one pass out). It is my understanding that MF has 4.5 g's after the 1st hill and from what I have learned "researching" this issue (I welcome any comments on this if you have other information) that normal healthy people experience visual disturbances between 4 and 5 g's (spotty vision, grey out and then tunnel vision and eventually blackout). Also, everyone has a different tolerance level to g's and certain environmental conditions may exasperate the "problem" (high heat, lack of hydration). How many times did you bend over to pick something up and get up and experience the stars and twinkles in your eyes? It's the same thing, lack of blood to the brain due to the sudden change in direction with reference to gravity and blood flow to the brain. I'm not a doctor nor an expert in this area, so if you have concerns I'd check with your doctor.
I grey-out from the vibrations NOT the G-Forces!
Proved this by riding maXair which is smooth & no greying out. Although how many G's does it produce??
What is tunnel vision?

I see a lot of tunnel vision in the Project 2007 forum. :)
Walt, that's a dangerous topic to bring up. You should know that by now. ;)
Without fail I always start to grey out, matter of fact, last time I was on the verge of blacking out. Only the second time I've ever come that close to blacking out. Once on a Tilt-A-Whirl (they run them so loose at fairs) at a local festival, and my last ride on MF.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
Where did you sit? (Let's see if my thought process holds up... :) )

I was about 4 or 5 rows from the back. I guess if you want to include more than the very middle car as the middle, I was at the back of the middle, if that makes sense. :)

But that's within the range that I've noticed it... The front seems to be more forgiving than the back.

Did anyone watch the Discovery Channel piece on coasters this week? They mentioned the G-forces experienced and how they can affect riders (e.g. visual affects, grey out, tunnel vision and black out). They also discussed that the adreniline rush from coasters may also be healthy for us riders. I don't know how credible the health benefit claims are, but a day at CP sure takes me away from the BS of life. Everyone is happy there and add to this a "coaster high" and what could be more fun than that?!!! Now I just have to convince my doctor and insurance that riding coasters is good preventive medicine for stress related ailments. :) Enjoy!
My sister black out the first time she rode it. My mom rode with her. My mom is screaming going over the hill and then I hear a shreek behind me and then frieghtened screaming. My sister came to over the second hill. Needless to say my mom and sister's first ride on Millie was a downer after an hour and a half wait. But my sister was a trooper and wanted to go back on to get the full ride in and later that day we did and she said she almost blacked out for a second time but like I said she's a trooper. That was 2002 and since then we've been back and rode it multiple times. But she was completely healthy when she rode! I love that ride so much!

I think that it is a fairly normal occurance to black-over/black-out/see stars on some rides. Really nothing to freak out about. It might freak you out mentally, but physically shouldn't cause you any harm. If you don't like it, then just don't ride the ride it happens on. Personally, I like it. Gives the ride character!
I rode Millennium Force for when i went to Cedar Point for my first time this year, out of the 3 times i rode it i never blacked out or grayed out, not in the front, middle , or back
I have never even came close to blacking or graying out on millennium force. I have only rode it twice though. However, I could see it happening to someone right after the first overbank. The g's are really intense there. BTW when I went the train in front of me hit a seagul. Feathers were everywhere! They had to let the train go with no people in it. I assume to get all of the stuff out of it. Nobody was hurt, they were all just laughing.
Mabye the blacking out, or grey out, only affects some people who havn't riden such an intense ride...
I've never been on MF, so, i wont know by experience... If people blank out on MF, woudn't people also blank out on TTD? Has that happened to anyone?
Im Dont Have Schitzophrenia... I just have alot of imaginary friends...
S.A.R.S.=Severe-Acute-Respritory-Syndrom... how much of an Oxymoron is that?!?!?
Well, Ive only been on twice. (although thats a nice achievement when your from holland).. But on both rides i started seeing some stars and becomming dizzy. Never had this on any coaster yet, not even on the Goliath in Walibi which has some nasty G's in its over-the-pont-helix as well. What an experience :).
The first hill on MF usually gets me too. I've never blacked out, but I've come pretty close once or twice. It was expecially rough when in about 6 months I lost over 100 pounds. My body was pretty screwed up.
***WARNING*** Tangent Ahead
That reminds me of when my knuckle got stuck in a hinge while working at home depot last year. I was losing a LOT of blood and feeling lightheaded. The nurse in the ER asked me to irrigate the wound by running a whole bag of liquid over the wound. She said it would take about five minutes so she'd be back in about that time. Everything was fine until I started getty really dizzy. Long story short (trust me ;)), I ended up leaning on the sink in the corner of the room with my face pushed into the wall yelling (more accurately described as loud mummbling) "Nuuuuuurrrrrrssseee" over and over because I couldn't keep my body standing or sitting up anymore. No worries though because I sure woke up REALLY quick when they had to numb the wound with a 4-inch needle right into my open knuckle. Yeah, that needle... worst pain of my life.
