blacking out on millenium force?

I dont know about anyone else but wow after that gigantic hill and your going top speed towards the huge banking curve, towards the middle of it I start to see blackness and I start to black out I think because of the speed. I just wondered if this happens to anyone else?
It's because of the high g force sustained for over 4 seconds. I've blacked out once, sitting in the front row. About half the time I ride it I grey out, the rest of the time I'm unaffected visually. The speed makes it harder to feel the g forces. If you relax and look up into the sky during the drop, the g forces feel more intense.

I used to black out, but after riding it 27 times, I guess I got used to it cause i didnt black out at all the last 4 times I rode it.

thank you.....and enjoy your record breaking ride on Millennium Force!

My first rides I greyed out on the first hill. Haven't as often lately though, most likely because I'm getting used to it.
If you clench all muscles in your body, you can overcome this sensation or minimize it at least... Blacking out is caused by lack of blood so if you contract all mucles possible (legs, arms, etc) then blood can't pool in those regions. This is what airplane pilots do, with assistance of a special suit apparatus (sp?) to eliminate blackouts. I watch the Discovery Channel WAY too much :P
no matter how many times ive been on it, around the big banked turn i become dizzy, feel like im gonna pass out and i see lotsa colors because of the g's...wgat a great thing

Joe Johnson is god

What about Wildcat? Do you guys black out on that?

If so, then it's because of the g-forces. If not, then it must not be the g-forces.

Just a thought.

MANTIS ROCKS 2002 & 2003

It's the duration combined with the G force that causes a blackout. Wildcat does produce higher G force than Millennium Force, but only for a fraction of a second. Millennium Force sustains the G force for long enough to cause blackouts in rare cases.

My dad's old bosses son completely blacked out...I'm talkin' knocked out the entire ride!!! No joke, it was on the news and everything. Oh and yes i do feel it everytime right through the first overbank. I thought it was just me and my weak body. I get that feeling every time i ride any roller coaster.

I've been hearing some stuff from the Lemon Chill guy lately, you wanna hear?
I sorta see gray in the place between the 1st overbanked turn and the tunnel.

Millennium Force is MY baby.
Where would we be without CP?:)

I didn't black out on Millenium when I rode it in the front and in the middle which seems surprisingly now hearing these stories because I black out a lot every once in a while on the old Arrow loopers..wow do those pack some g's going down the first hill and right into the first loop at my homepark.
I experienced the same thing. My vision starts to get dark on that first banked hill, but after that I'm fine. I also experience the same thing, though not as bad on the first loop of mantis.
I don't know about blacking out... but I'm sure that on a hot day that I didn't eat lunch I greyed out riding in the back seat. Things started to get a little blurry and I felt real withdrawn. Then I was perfectly fine in the tunnel and enjoyed my ride as always.

I'm glad that I finally found a thread about this issue. I thought I was the only one blacking out on MF (none of my friends experience this at least). After the first hill and around that first bank up until the first tunnel (like most others have said in this thread), I black out because of the G's. I've tried clenching my muscles in my arms and legs to get the bloodflow going, and it does help a bit, but I still never get a complete black-out free ride right at the beginning. I am worried that I might actually black out entirely one of these days..I've had 10 rides this season so far and I guess I'm not "used to it" yet because it happened during my 4 rides yesterday, 3 of them being right in a row.

For the first time ever, I blacked out on the loop on Raptor when I was in the back, far right seat. I also blacked out for the first time ever on MF in the last row during the banked curve. It was the first time I've ever blacked out on a ride. I think it might have been the fact I hadn't ridden a rollercoaster in 7 months as of opening day.

I have never heard of this. Wow! The only thing that I've ever experienced was an odd feeling on TTD first ride. I almost stopped breathing(or something, it happened so fast I wasn't sure, then I was fine going up the hill) I'm fine now, I just scream during take off!

I also experience a small amount of grayness, on the first overbank. Also at the beginning of the cobra roll on Raptor. And last, Wildcat is to intense for me!

I get that dizzy feeling too at the 1st bank curve but only when I'm in seats 1 thru 4. It feels awesome and makes a great coaster ride even better!

Same here...in the middle of the banked curve I see spots and black out every time I ride. I think it's fun though lol.

Cedar Point rocks my socks.

It was really cool, my cousin always talks about blacking out in cross country or whatever, I'd never really knew what it meant until I rode MF for the first time. In that first section between the hill and the bank, it was like black started closing in from the edges towards the middle, but I've never had it completely close in.

Like tilt said, I love the feeling and what it does for the coaster! =D
