blacking out on millenium force?

I have never blacked out. I have had that sort of grey out dizzy feeling from the 2nd half of the first overbank. One of my friends that goes to CP with me alot has experienced the same thing.

I have never experienced it though on the first hill or at the bottom of the first hill or on any other coasters at CP. (although I only ride the Ralphtor one time whenever I go LOL)

My fiance experienced the same thing on MF as Coaster Krazy on the ERTs Friday night. It was after our second ride in a row and she said that instead of a "gray out" it was a rainbow colored tunnel vision. lots of reds and purples. I thought that was pretty weird b/c we ride MF all the time but even as close as we live to the park we don't get rerides anywhere near that close to each other so that may have had some effect.

Oh man I was at CP today and rode MF and for the first time ever I started to black out on the first big turn. We went down the hill and up in the turn and everything started to go black. It was the weirdest thing ever. My head got real light and I really felt the speed. Its the first time it's ever happened after 5 years of riding it.

Then we walked right on Mantis and I almost blacked out on the dive loop. It was a fun day.

Usually that means you need to drink more fluids.

I am no doctor, but I waited in line for Millennium Force 2 1/2 hours for my first ride (and I believe it was in the upper 70's), I drank nothing during the queue wait, and I didn't experience any greying/blacking out. But yet I had a whole cup of water (upper 80's) right before I got in line for Mantis (half an hour wait), and I still got some black spots like I was about to black out.

I find that I tend to black out if I scream a lot. It's the same principal as blowing up a balloon really fast and then getting dizzy.

I black/gray out 9 times out of 10 when riding MF and I've tried everything - food/no food, more fluids/less fluids, tensing of the muscles, it doesn't make a difference. Contracting my arm and leg muscles up the lift hill made a SLIGHT difference, but now I just accept the black outs on that first overbank. I pack a lunch with protein-filled foods to sustain me throughout the day and I always stay hydrated by making use of the free water, so food and water is not the issue.

And this year I realized that the lateral Gs on the last spiral of Raptor gives me the same effect - I have ridden Raptor many, many times but this year during one ride before that turn I completely relaxed my body (just to enjoy the ride) and I grayed out on the last spiral every time.

It's just the intense G forces, some people are more affected than others.

I've never heard anyone complain that they've started speaking Ebonics at the bottom of the hill. Must be a new phenomenon.

I read this post about a year ago and had never heard of such a thing. So guess what? Either my first or second time this year I saw the grey spots at the bottom of the hill. I had to go on again just to see what would happen(last seat) and I was fine. Now last week it happened again. The second ride was OK. But I'm telling you-I don't like it one bit. It scares me and now I'm frightened everytime. I finally fit in the seat OK and now this!!! Do you think this is OK to happen? My husband says just don't ride it anymore. That is NOT an option!!!

It was in the morning and I had very little to eat or drink. I thought screaming would help like it does on the start of TTD.

It use to always happen to me on the first turn... but as of this season, not anymore....

Always happens to me on Raptor and a little on Mantis... But I cannot recall a time on MF. *** Edited 6/30/2006 4:18:27 AM UTC by Coastern3rd***

I'm not sure what the difference is between blacking out and greying out, but on Raptor, at the bottom of the first hill as you start to pull up into the loop, my vision goes black for about 2 or 3 seconds. Doesn't hurt, no headache, just can't see a thing.

This has been going on for years. Well, this spring I lost some weight, started hiking again and...no blackout. I rode Raptor three times on the Monday after opening weekend, and all was fine.

So, a month or so later, and the diet and exercise have vanished again as they always do, and guess what? It happened again last week. I think it's purely a matter of getting proper circulation and good cardio exercise.

If you are "blacking or greying" out, maybe it would be in your best interest not to ride. I have never had these things happen.

The only ride I have ever greyed/blacked out on is the Titan at SFOT.

Is it really that bad of a thing though? (I really have no idea).

101 on Magnum and counting...

I've only gotten a small case of tunnel vision at the bottom of Millie's first hill, and that's only been a small amount of times. One of them was my first ride of the day around 9AM this last Wednesday (Thank God for early entrance for resort guests). What a way to wake-up. :-P Most of the time I pull out of the dive just fine though.

Although when I was little, my Church took a group of people to Dollywood, and the Tennessee Tornado had just been built and I got a pretty good dose of tunnel vission for a second or two going into the loops. That's been ages ago, and I only got it that one time. I was able to get off the thing and walk back up and get on the train like 3 or 4 times, rode that thing quite a bit on that trip, only nearly blacked out once.

If you are having medical problems whem riding some rides, you should not ride those rides.

Unless you don't mine dying.
