If blueprints are unavailable, they'll number each board in order to put it back together exactly the same as it came apart. A perfect example of this would be Phoenix at Knoebel's.
Yeah, not a job that I'd even want to consider.

I'm no fan of hockey. Somebody told me today that hockey was having playoffs now and I had no idea. Basketball, Football, Baseball...those are the biggies.
You arn't a fan of hockey because you are not a Detroiter ; )
We went to SFWoA about 6 years ago or so and rode ONE coaster that ruined everything. Can ya guess which one? Just incase you can't, I'm talking about the Big Dipper. I love air time on the hills of Magnum, but I do not appreciate feeling like I am going to fall out of my seat the entire ride. Also at the time I didn't know much about coasters so I didn't know that was normal. I didn't know that it was air time. My mom, sisters, and I seriously thought that we were going to fall out and die. lol. We were so scared that we didn't ride any more coasters there the rest of the day.
Anywho the Big Dipper turned my mom off coasters : ( She is so afraid of them now that when we actually got her to ride Disastor Transport and Iron Dragon she SCREAMED at the top of her lungs the entire way on both. lol. So my opinion is don't bring it to CP. Although I do see the historic significance.

if CP were to bring back a ride like Big Dipper, I'd want them to make (or try to) an exact replica of the Cyclone, that was at CP years ago..
How about the switchback railway? The water toboggans would be cool too. How about bathing suit rentals if you want to go waaaaaay back in time.
I would htink the Cyclone had much more impact.. it was Magnum of the day back then, with it's power.
But Switchback would be cool too

Rumors...gotta love 'em :)
Naturally will have to add my 2 cents....
CF is a business-as such they care about 1 thing--$$
Adding BD to CP isn't worth the $$ to dismantle and move. BD not going to add more crowds to the park. People aren't going to think "I have to get to CP and ride this old coaster they just put in!!"
If any of this rumor is even remotely close, the ONLY thing I can see is CF putting a car or 2 of BD in the CP museum and a bunch of pictures of what once was.
People are more upset over the thought of the coaster being destroyed because of the nostalgia involved. Unless you rode in the front BD was a rough ride.
On that same note, Coney Island's Cyclone, another senior coaster that could realign a spine or damage a spleen way better than Mean Streak has been saved repeatedly.

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?
Big Dipper has disappeared from the Nortonupcoming events page (which was just updated to reflect an unrelatedcarousel auction last Wednesday). The Big Dipper paragraph is goneagain, the Geauga Lake auction description now just reads:
"Coasters; Major, Adult & Kiddy Rides; Paddle Wheel FerryBoats; Space Tower; Campground; Camping Trailers; All Types AmusementPark Equipment & Memorabilia!" Color Brochure is still "availablein soon."
And the brochure is now up with no mention of the dipper.

You make a good point Jeff, I honestly do not think that the general public would know or care if Dipper was preserved. But don't you think that it would be in Cedar Fairs best interest to preserve one of the oldest coasters in the country? Particulary when they boast about the theme at Kings Island this year being one of history, tradition, and nostalgia?
No, I don't think there's much of a benefit at all. Their accountabiliy is to unit holders first. I'm not suggesting that there isn't something to be gained by preserving the ride, or that it isn't the right thing to do. The only thing it really gains is good will for a rather niche group of people.
If they move it to CP or anywhere else, I think it would need to be as a centerpiece to something more complete. Like the removal of Disaster Transport. :)

Very interesting!
10 Wildcat TL
09 Monster/ Witches Wheel - TL
08 Mean Streak
07 Monster/ Witches Wheel
Witches Wheel has a 54 inch height requirement, I don't care if your child rode Dragster, Magnum or, Millenium, they are not tall enough for this one!
Save The Big Dipper!

Here's how that was related... We're talking about saving/relocating a coaster, mainly Big Dipper at Geauga Lake. She brought up saving/relocating a coaster at Coney Island; Cyclone.
I don't think Cedar Point has ever taken full advantage of the lake front location. They started to with the relocation of the ferris wheel and the WT but there is more that can be done. Edit: I missed Jeff's post. Disaster Transport is an absolute nightmare when you consider the view it blocks.
Jesz...your mom hated the Big Dipper but loved Iron Dragon and Disaster Transport. Ok...let's say this: I have bad taste in not liking hocky and your mom has bad taste in roller coasters.
The very reason BD is so great is b/c you feel like you could fall out of your seat throughout the ride. That is what makes it a classic.

The big dipper WILL NOT go to CP..from my standpoint that is..i doubt it will..coasterbuzz is full of rumors..but thats just my opinion.
It may be rumors but I think that this is a big deal. If its not being auctioned that means someone has either bought it or Cedar Fair is keeping it. They wouldnt just destroy it since they can get money by auctioning it
2009 ??? Cp Le Railroad??
2008 Cp and Le Railroad ATL
2006-2007 Geauga Lake rides
Well whatever happened to Villain?
I would much rather have Villain at the point then the " Big dipper" its more exciting, a lot more fun..and just a better ride overall. I wish it went to CP..thoughts on this anybody? It coulddd be a possibility.

Noo. lol. She HATES those coasters. That's what my point was. The Big Dipper made her so fearful of coasters (she says she liked them before...not too sure about that) that she was terrified when she was on the Iron Dragon and Disastor Transport. Which you all know are two of the mildest coasters at CP.

Cedar Point probably won't get Villain. If Cedar Point is going to put in a big wooden roller coaster they're going to go for something amazing not something mediocre like Villain was.
