Big Dipper to CP?

Yeah I rode the Hershey boomerang way back in '99 when I was in 8th grade and I don't remember it being that bad, although my expectations for coasters back then was different than it is now. Head Spin was just so awfully maintained, it's easily the worst ride experience I've ever had out of 104 coasters.

The one and only time I went on Head Spin, I believe I obtained a minor concussion, because I was definitely dizzy for the next 30 minutes or so. I guess the name was at least fitting...

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I rode Head Spin in 07 and it was better then it was in 06 but I rode Sidewinder at Hershey and it was a hell of a lot better then Head Spin.

Witches Wheel has a 54 inch height requirement, I don't care if your child rode Dragster, Magnum or, Millenium, they are not tall enough for this one!

Save The Big Dipper!

Could this rumor be put to rest?

http://www.nortonauctioneers.com/upcoming.htm : "1926 BIG DIPPER COASTER (not listed in brochure but will be selling at the auction on Tuesday)"

It looks like either Cedar Fair changed their minds (if the rumor ever had any merit) or the rumor is officially disproved.

As I've said all along.

Also, Head Spin at CP.... that's plain ugly.

^I would much rather have a Mean Streak-flavored s'more, honestly.

Nah. Mean Streak, while it has been rough to ride lately (though that won't stop me on the 10th) is still one of the best coasters to look at at night.

Then take a picture. :)

Imagine what the bonfire would look like at night!

[url][url]Big Dipper is back on the auction block. Apparently Norton Auctioneers just updated their website to indicate that the Big Dipper is back on the June 17 auction list according to an article on WKYC's site[url][url].

I personally am not surprised to hear this. The article states that earlier this month four Cedar Fair stockholders said Cedar Fair was set to announce April 23 that it would dismantle the 1925 roller coaster and store it until it could be rebuilt at another Cedar Fair park, likely Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio.

So what happened? Why did this get shelved? I guess what PREMiERdrum said was true, imagine that.

Dick Kinzel came on PointBuzz and saw a few "expert" opinions on the matter and had a change of heart.

Again, I'm not a big "conspiracy theory" kind of guy but again, we aren't talking about a great deal of money in the Cedar Fair big picture. So, could the "back on the auction block" be as a result of the early leak that it was being moved? Could it simply be spite at this point?

Strange, strange stuff.

The article states that it is NOT on the auction block unless Norton posted that after the news report was released

3 things you can't talk about with people you don't know is religion, politics, and roller coasters!

^ You are right but if you look on the Nortons page it now states,

1926 BIG DIPPER COASTER (not listed in brochure but will be selling at the auction on Tuesday)

It did not say that yesterday.

Sure looks like they're going to try to sell it to me.

I'll bet every hat I own that there is a hell of a story behind all this, and we'll never know what it was.

Sigh. I just knew this was too good to be true.
