It was an element of fantasy novels LONG before WoW came along.
But yes. Yes you do.

Gotta love runescapers.
Firemen never die, they just burn forever in the hearts of the people whose lives they saved
If leaving it operating at its current location is not, for whatever reason, an option then there are only two other choices: demolish it or relocate it.
I don't know if they really care about those (in whatever number) who might be upset about seeing the Dipper destroyed. If they do have some concerns, legitimate or not, then moving Dipper doesn't sound like a horrible idea. I suspect Villain has more of a liklihood of being purchased and shipped to another company/park than the Dipper does so all of that talk seems to be just that - talk.
My guess, as I've stated before, is that they want to avoid further alienating the Cleveland/Akron market that has already been slapped around by amusement park companies, including Cedar Fair.

You'd have to alienate in the first place to further alienate.

I suppose this is as good a place as any to post this. I cross refrenced my lists with the auction brochure. As far as I can tell, the following would be a list of rides that have not already been relocated and are not for sale at the auction.
Big Dipper
Beaver Land Mine Ride
Head Spin
Pirate's Flight
Black Squid
June Bug Jump
Tea Party
Star Castle Voyage
Thunder Alley Speedway
El Dorado
Americana
Merry Oldies
Carousel
Dodgems
Thriller Bees
Turbo Bungee

I hear CP is taking the train and there going to put it on mean streak. But who knows anything yet?
Bring back Boblo!
I think Cedar Fair participated in some initial alienation. Again, they made some real boneheaded PR gaffes when they first took over Geauga Lake. I use the "Reader Reward" program frequently but if my memory is correct there were two or three other stupid decisions they made when they first got to town that caused some outcry and had editorials being written in the paper.
So yes, I'd say they alienated, further alienated by closing the ride side down and the thought of helicopters flying overhead while the ride is being demolished probably is not something they are anticipating with glee.
My comments from September '06 after they laid off a bunch of full time staff members...including the marketing folks:
"I thought I had a pretty good idea about what Cedar Fair wanted to do with GL but now I'm not so sure. And, I suspect, the bad news isn't over."

Are you going to be like that Munch guy and allege all kinds of impropriety and failure if Cedar Fair moves the ride instead of demolishing it? That'd be lame. There isn't a single reason the ride needs to stay there. See Phoenix or Starliner. Better to put it somewhere that it'll actually have riders.
I was simply stating my opinion and was not alleging any sort of impropriety and or failure on Cedar Fairs part. Phoenix and Starliner are two great coasters which I feel were worth the move so that they could be enjoyed by others, I know because I’ve ridden them in both their original and current locations. Big Dippers main claim to fame is its age and location which would be lost in such a move. What I don’t understand is why Cedar Fair would want to move such a “regular” coaster with such a “standard” type layout. Who is to say that if it stayed in its current location it would not be ridden? That is simply pure speculation.
There was no need to call my opinion or me lame. There are many possibilities to this rumor and just because you suggest it Jeff doesn’t mean you are right. As I stated in a previous post you do not need to call users or their opinions names when they do not agree with you. It just seems there is always one side to the opinions around here, yours.
It most likely wouldn't have riders once that site is bought. While I'm sure there are more than one group looking to buy the plot as part of preservation, I'm sure there are twice as many looking to buy it for condos and demolition of the property.
If the latter gets the land, then no one would have it. If the former, its a crapshoot as to how long it would last. GLP didn't close because there were people lining up at the gates waiting to get in.

CP should try to get Head spin or Texas Twister...Headspin would fit right where demon drop is..and so would texas twister which is why i think one of them should go there and DD be removed...just my opinion though. Just a thought people!! :)
Texas Twister was relocated to California's Great America. It will reopen at Firefall.

I didn't. I said if you did feel that way it would be lame. You can have whatever opinion you want, and if I don't agree with you, I'll say so. You're another anonymous person who suddenly started posting with this issue, so naturally I suspect some agenda. You could be Munch or Sanderson for all I know. It wouldn't be the first time. I'm always suspicious. :)

I did mention that several posts ago but I guess it was missed.

If Cedar Point bought and installed Head Spin, I would cease to associate myself with the park.
And I like the few mentions of Starliner. I used to ride it all the time when my dad lived in Panama City Beach, and I always thought it was a really fun ride. I'm glad it was relocated so it could continue operating.
Miss_Maverick07 said:What about head spin and texas twister?? They are not in the auction brochures, but did they already get re-located?
I'm not sure if this has been answered yet, but Texas Twister has debuted at California's Great America as "Firefall". Head Spin hasn't been relocated, but rumors are pointing towards Kings Dominion to replace Hypersonic...
Uh, yeah, you're the third person in the last two pages to mention it...
My author website: mgrantroberts.com.
As awful as Head Spin is/was, it would still be better than Hypersonic if that replacement actually happens.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
I'll have to respectfully disagree with you Ralph. Vekoma Boomerangs are the absolute worst, and Head Spin gave me a migraine. Hypersonic almost ripped my arm off, though, so I don't know which was worse. As ridiculous as Hypersonic was, I was kinda disappointed that it was torn down just cause KD is my home park and I don't like seeing big rides being removed. If Head Spin goes to KD or Carowinds (or anywhere but the junkyard), I'll be very upset.
There's nothing wrong with a well-maintained boomerang. I don't have any strong feelings about them, but the one at Hershey seemed OK.
