Any word or thought on a ride for 2006???

I would want to see a water coaster similar to Journey to Atlantis. Maybe a little taller and some tunnels.

Leave that to disney.

I couldn't give a **** if a ride was themed or not. Just as long as the ride is awesomely fun.

LOL. If CP get anything else beside a screamin swing I want it to be something other than a water coaster. ( they make you want to go pee alot ).

Bring back Boblo!

It's okay, Halltd. I believe you, and anyone who's seen Valleyfair's announcment for the Xtreme Swing has to believe you, too.

It's obvious that the three-arched piece lurking under the blue tarp is the top piece for that same swing. The next question is: will it be an additional charge, like the Screaming Swing at Dorney? Both times I was at Dorney, there was no one riding it, and the charge is only $5 I think. Hopefully that's headed for Challenge Park, and something REALLY worthwhile is waiting to be constructed of all that lovely wood. ;)

I'm with you, I HATE Six Flags! An awesomely fun ride would make me xtremely happy!

I got nothin'.

I think only the larger models, 40-seat models, have that large top to them. If that's the case, then I think it's safe to say it's going into the park because of capacity. If Challenge Park were to get one, I would imagine it being smaller because it wouldn't be *THAT* popular that it has to move 40 people at a time.

Im hoping that the thing in the parking lot is for something other than a S.S. that would bum me out.

maybe like the entrance to the new ride!?

Okay... I'm having A LOT of trouble understanding why people have yet to realize that the "thing" in the SC lot is the top to a SS.

This should be plainly, unavoidably and completely obvious to anyone with the ability for complex thought. And by complex thought, I mean the ability to add single-digit numbers. So, one LAST time (I hope):

The part covered in blue tarp in the Soak City parking lot is the top to a Screaming Swing!!!

Write it down. Remember it. Tell your friends. Do not try and deny it.

I agree 200% with DjDaemon. (What?? =P )

I think it's absolutely undeniable at this point because we haven't seen it's shape until recently, with VF's announcement, and here just happens to be another one with a cutout the same. I think it's just a given at this point.

It's still interesting why it would come so early though if nothing else was being done this year. But that's where we get back on track with speculation, I guess.

Also, MaxAir's sign (I believe) was the LAST part to arrive before the ride opened to the public, so I don't think this would be a sign if work elsewhere hadn't already been done. I don't think they would want a sign sitting out in the parking lot all winter long getting smushed up before putting it on display. Usually the sign is the one piece you want most flawless when you display it for people to see.

Keep in mind that last year we didn't even see any construction markings until closing weekend. This year we've been seeing markings since when, July?

Also keep in mind that the construction of Mantis did not begin until the day after closing day, 1995 (Wow, 10 years ago! Holy crap...).

The only thing that gives evidence to a Screamin' Swing in the "thing" sitting out in the parking lot and the fact that ValleyFair is getting one. However, if you look at the history of construction of new rides at CP, the signs point to something a little bit bigger.

I'm still sticking with the theory I gave months ago: It's bigger than a bathroom, but smaller than Mantis.

There were no Halloweekends in '95, thus closing day was earlier, correct?

Thats why it seems obvious (to me, at least) that the SS will be put in this year, with something much bigger for '07 in the pipeline. The markings in FT are likely so that footers and such may be completed this offseason, with the remaining being completed between '06 & '07.

What does closing day ten years ago have to do with next years ride ?

djDaemon's avatar

Top Thrill Dragster posted that he felt we could still see a new coaster, since they might still break ground this year. He based this on the fact that ground was not broken for Mantis until just after closing day in '95. I was pointing out that there was more time back then, and the likelihood of a new coaster next year is remote.

Brandon

When did you start noticing markings for Millenium? I thought that was built in 1 offseason. Why couldnt they build something else in one offseason?

If there were no HalloWeekends, were there still the bonus weekends, or did the park close on Labor Day?

I'm pretty sure there were no bonus weekends in '95, but don't quote me.

As for MF, I am pretty sure that footers were poured in the '98-99 offseason, with the construction of the ride itself in the '99-00 offseason. But, again, I am an idiot - so do not quote me on that one either. ;)

Brandon

There were bonus weekends in 95. Prior to Halloweekends the last weekend was usually end of Sep of early Oct.

I'm the oldest one here. CP emp '73-'74

When did that start though? The 93-94 off-season started the day after laborday.

No, I remember bonus weekends in the 70's. Usually just two weekends after Labor Day. The 1992 season may have had 2, 3 or 4 bonus weekends, I'm not sure of the exact number.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

With the new attention being brought to the wood ala CP's blog update, I am thinking that a new wooden right (S&S or Intamin) might not seem so far fetched anymore..

Granted the blog is a newer addition, there was never anything said about the wood being used to replace Gemini, and I hear that the new woodies being built by said companies can be put together relatively quickly. I hear that Intamins are literally just putting things up in place, and S&S designs are pretty efficiently risen. It's just my thought, but I am starting to think a lot more about it now. This is very interesting, and I am thinking a twisty, turny wooden ride might be starting to reveal itself.

Judging by how not gross outside it looks in that picture, im gonna venture a guess to say its been at least two days since that picture was taken, because im sure it doesnt look that dry up there today. Not that that has anything to do with it though.

I really like the rhrymes/riddles they've added to their blogs for more bad humor (see: "one pipe, two pipe, three pipe...")
