Water is a coolent but not really the best. Because water will heat. If the motor is that big, the water near the fountains will be warmer. Best bet is to keep it really lubed and maybe a slow mist of a coolent.
Why the height 525 feet and the speed of 145? i don't see working. Maybe its just me.
"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"
CP does NOT need another short (in length) strata-coaster. TTD is fun, but its a novelty ride, and WAY too short.
I've always been a big fan of ride length. Sure, a height/speed-breaker is cool, but whats the point if the ride is only a few seconds? Give me a coaster in the 200' range, with a ride time well over 3.5 minutes, and that will be one fun ride.

All i know that it's some kinda of circular ride. So that could many possibitlies.

Wave Swinger's theming/artwork have no connection with Frontier Town or Trail. It doesn't match at all and never really has matched. Maybe they could move that ride elsewhere, put the Screaming Swing in it's spot with some sort of western theming and keep the big vacant WWL spot for something big later. It wouldn't take that much theming to make it fit...it'd be harder to make Wave Swinger seem like a match back in that area.

Right... But the thing is, WS is already there. The SS is NOT there yet, so why go through the trouble to force-fit a ride in the area, when you could just put it in a spot where it would be a much better fit and would have far greater visibility.
Yeah, WS could and theoretically should be moved, but thats neither here nor there. The topic at hand (though totally unrelated to the pre-creeped thread) is whether the SS belongs in FT.
Brandon
Is it "Grandfather Act" or "Grandfather Clause?" Either way it has nothing to do with rides.
Anyways...
They move rides all the time. Wave Swinger would take a smaller footprint. They could put the Screaming Swing there and have it go over the water, shoehorn the Wave Swinger somewhere else and keep the WWL plot for another larger project.

Of course it has nothing to do with rides... that could be said about anything: What does a shoehorn have to do with rides?
It was a simple (and I thought perhaps easy to understand) comment to sum up the fact that the ride is already there, and to move it would cost unnecessary dollars. Not to mention the fact that we are talking about putting in a new ride; we are not talking about aesthetically "cleaning" FT. You're missing the point...
The point is, WHY put the SS there, where it does NOT fit (theme-wise) and has limited visibility? Why not put it in another spot, closer to similar rides, where it requires NO themeing and will have greater visibility?
Sure, maybe it would be "cool" to have a flat in FT, but it just doesn't seem logical - not that logic is a prerequisite for anything CP does, of course.

A light theme does not make Cedar Point a "theme park." We're not talking Disney World here. Frontiertown has a nice charm, but one of the great things about it is that it doesn't hit you upside the head with the theme. The same can be said about HalloWeekends.
Ironically, the theme back there was more pronounced when Wave Swinger was installed than it is now.
Thats one of my concerns, Walt. If a SS is put in, it would require some sort of theme-like treatment to make it fit. Without said themeing, the addition would take away some more of the charm of that area, which is already in shorter supply than it was a few years ago, as you mentioned.
Brandon
Actually, I think the charm comes from how quiet it is. And that has more to do with the lack of attractions back there than anything.
The theme in Frontiertown is light enough to allow them to put anything they want in there. Outside of a wood tunnel, they didn't worry about Frontier Trail's theme when they put in Millennium Force.
Personally, I was worried that Millennium Force would ruin the feel of the Frontier Trail. It didn't, suprisingly. It blends in decently well with the light bit of theming that's there.
Had Millennium Force cut through Frontierland at Disneyland, however, it would be quite a different story. The difference is CP is an amusement park where the only (current) intent of the Frontier Town theme is to feel a little more relaxed than the rest of the park.
We're not talking about adding a B&M back there to deafen the geese. We're talking about a Screamin' Swing and while I haven't seen one in person, I doubt it's really all that noisy. The structure of the ride is minimal and won't loom over everything like a giant tower of loomingness.
Honestly, the only thing that concerns me about the addition of a Screamin' Swing in FTT is noise pollution. Even that doesn't worry me much.

That sounds like a card from Munchkin.
While a good job was done with MF and integrating it into the atmosphere of the Trail, I don't know that a flat could do the same. One of the things that is really nice about the Trail are the trees and the shade they provide, and I see the removal of a number of those being necessary for the addition of a flat.
Back in Frontiertown however, there aren't many rides and I that area could definitely benefit from a good flat in addition to a coaster and new flume (to replace WWL). And the trees in that area aren't as numerous as on the Trail. There is also a bit of room between the tracks and Mean Streak where a flat could go, so there is always that option too.
However, I repeat my objections to a SS in that a VERY similar ride was added just last spring.

A Screaming Swing could certainly be given a light theme to fit the area. Look what Geauga Lake did to a Top Spin when they installed Texas Twister and to a Matterhorn when they converted it to Hay Baler.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I, for one, hope its not. I'd love to see it on the main midway... perhaps where DD currently resides.

If it hasn't been said somewhere in the last 73 pages, a Screamin Swing would be the perfect addition to Challenge Park. The apparent size, however, puts it in the park itself. I'm sure someone back there agrees with me. I guess Frontier Town would be the likely spot- as far away from maXair as possible. As for a theme, who knows? An axe or something?
For C.P. to remove a high capacity flume to install another one would be...? I do remember an employee telling me a couple years ago that C.P had plans to install the world's longest water ride, whatever that means.
As for Wave Swinger, I think it fits perfectly in Frontier Town. It has an old fashioned county fair look. It was especially nice when the Frontier Carousel was next to it. Certainly better than a YoYo with giant guns leaning against the center post.
That pile of creosote treated wood is a ruse. It's gotta be replacement wood for something.
I'm the oldest one here. CP emp '73-'74
Well I like Wave Swinger in Frontiertown at this point it just feels like it belongs there. As for the screaming swing I hope it does not replace Demon Drop, I hope that whatever they put there is a good ride. I think though if they must get a screaming swing they should put it over somewhere near the Gemini.

Which reminds me, wasn't there a sign that read "Frontier Town" on one side and "Frontier Trail" on the other side? I remember the sign stretching across the end of the Frontier Trail near Thunder Canyon.
- Uncle Jay
Yes there was. It stretched across the midway near the Enginehouse Custard building.
Hmm ... you'd think I'd have a picture of that somewhere. See - this is why you can never have enough pictures!
