I agree that most people love IAG rides - in fact, thats what is irritating. People love riding TTD, MF, etc, but (at least on these forums) you can still find a few posts every day (at least it seems) bashing IAG and proclaiming that CP should NOT use them ever again, or that CP shouldn't trust them, etc. I agree that the GP does indeed love their rides, but when it comes to enthusiasts, there are some (hypo)critics out there who complain about IAG ride problems in these forums, then get up from their computers, run out their doors and run DIRECTLY into the MF, TTD and WT queues. Its just an annoying trait of a lot of enthusiasts I suppose - "toughest critics" and all that.

Considering the extensive problems with Millennium Force, Wicked Twister and Top Thrill Dragster, you think it would be a good idea for Cedar Point to build another Intamin coaster? Isn't that Business 101?
Besides, what's wrong with showing frustration and still riding? You want people who get upset with the situation to boycott all Intamin rides? That makes no sense.
I just don't understand the love-hate relationship, apparently. I don't want anyone to boycott any ride. I just want to understand why someone would think that IAG shouldn't ever build another ride in CP, when most people seem to place one of their coasters in their 'top 5/10 favorite' lists.
As for more IAG's: Of course they should build more! The GP has flocked to MF, WT & TTD in pretty substantial numbers, even though overall park attendance isn't great. Sure the rides don't always work, but people still get in line. And everything learned on these rides will be applied to next-gen coasters.

The seat belt problem (in my mind) was NOT Intamin's problem. It was Six Flags. Intamin then had to cover their a$$ because Six Flags sued them. So, to prevent future lawsuits, they had to implement that seat belt rule. We all know that guy fell out because Six Flags let him on the ride when they shouldn't have. So, blaming the MF problems on Intamin is just a cop-out. As far as WT and TTD go, they are both coasters pushing limits. WT was repaired and they're working on TTD. But, when you're talking something as extreme as TTD, things are going to break. That's true of any new technology. The difficulty with coasters is that the coaster itself is the prototype which is unusual in the world. What other item can't be tested fully before being introduced to the public? Not much. So, I can overlook the downtime on TTD because its such an amazing experience when it IS open. I also applaud CP for taking the chance on that ride and sticking with it.
I hope that CP continues to push the limits of ride technology and just hope they have better luck next time. We know they sure did with Magnum and MF (before the Six Flags fiasco). Or, would you guys rather they just put in lame rides that they're sure work all the time? Let's just have Six Flags buy them out and then we can deal with all the crap associated with them.

Its not just Intamin that has problems with their new rides. Look at the former Arrow with X, and Vekoma with the Deja Vu triplets. I am glad CP keeps building Intamins, becuase thats how we get these coasters that keep getting more extreme. No one really thinks with as much origionality as Intamin.
Thrills Around the Corner!
Not to change the subject about Intamin, but...
Most people are under the consensus that a S&S Swing is going to go where Demon Drop currently stands beacuse the footprints are about the same. Wouldn't it make more sense for this swing to replace Mr. Hydes Nasty Fall at Geagua Lake? Geagua Lake needs a new attraction to put on their ads, because other than the water park, X-Flight was their last large ride installed. That would open the door for a different attraction at Cedar Point, but considering the Patriot, the swing at ValleyFair, the waterpark completion at Geagua Lake, the Castaway Bay improvements, and the possible AstroWorld aquisition I imagine CedarFair might be a little stretched.
I seriously doubt CedarFair would put parts in the Soak City parking lot just to throw us off, but just throwing in another possibility.
With the second half of Wild Water Kingdom coming next year, I doubt anything else will be going to Geauga Lake next year.
Plus CP said that if Demon Drop deosn't sell that they would keep it. So if that's the case then the only way the SS would go where Demon Drop is now would be if they moved DD or put it in storage. I think people are over-substantiating the markings around WWL. I think the SS is going back there and WWL will not be removed.

Yeah, TTD came 3 years after MF, and from the very beginning I felt like they rushed it. They built the first 400 footer when there were only 2 coasters even over 300 feet. Not to be knocking TTD, it's a great ride, but I think a 200 foot floorless with multple inversions would have made me happier if it was sitting there instead of TTD.
Good Point dude. You know I know we have Magnum XL 200, but I wouldn't mind seeing something go in like Nitro with some good airtime hills. Just because we all know Kinzel wants to retire with a bang doesn't mean exactly that we're going to build the worlds tallest and fastest coaster again. We should just build something fun that maybe breaks 1 world record. I also wouldn't mind seeing a floorless go in with a height of 190-200 feet. Maybe make it the first floorless to have 2 lift hills. What I mean by that is since your already going up the first hill out of the station, the track might turn a little and go up another lift hill. Kinda like a RCT creation. This way you could fit about 4 trains on a floorless. I also like the idea of Multiple inversions on a floorless, one element Cedar Point has never used is interlocking corkscrews. Geauga Lake did it with Dominator, and I think it would be cool to see the same on a coaster at Cedar Point.
I just think we need something like Nitro, because that would attract so many people, although a floorless would be nice, because we already have 2 inverted and a stand-up.

Anyone know what happened to the "Orient Express" from worlds of fun? That was a fun ride, it was the first ride to feature a Kamikaze Curve element and it also has interlocking loops.

Maybe CP should break the world record for the most air time. That would be my kind of record.

the only way CP will get a coaster like nitro is if they took out magnum (i will hand cuff myself to it). we already have a hyper coaster with a lot of air time.

and going over the water would not really be possible because although it's possible to build it, come winter, lake Erie would destroy pretty much anything built out there.
think of millennium force and mantis
I know someone who is usually in the know about things at CP. He knew about all the rides from MF to Maxair. He sometimes will give me hints to whats going in next. All he told me is that something is going to get rebuilt back in that area.
From what I have heard/read, the lagoons are drained in the winter months. Lake Erie has no affect on those rides during the off season.

Concrete footers are built in regularly-freezing water all the time. Why couldn't they do it in Erie? They do it in Superior, Huron and Michigan.
