I was at Cedar Point today. I rode White Water Landings, when you look off to the right @ the top there are a bunch of red marks and red flags. Then I went to Millennium Force, on the island there was a bunch of materials off to the side by the Paddle Wheel Exursion. Then I went to Wicked twister. On the beach side there is a genterator on a flat bed truck.
First of all, everyone keeps saying Kinzel wants to go out with a bang. Does anyone have a link to an article where he actualy said this? I was under the assumption that this was all conjecture and hearsay. Second of all, if recent history has taught us anything, it's this: Roller coasters, especially big and/or record breaking ones, don't pop up over night. If one is coming next year or even in 07 then it's already been in development for quite a while. They've already told us that TTD was in the works at about the time MF opened. My guess is that if a coaster is coming in 07 then they've been working on it since 04, and if there is one next year, then it's been in the works since 03.

There was an editorial in the Sandusky Register on August 31, 2003. Part of that editorial is reproduced below:
Under Kinzel, Cedar Point has gone from a popular regional amusement park to the coaster capital of the world, transforming a small Northwest Ohio town into "America's Rock 'n' Roller Coast."
The investment has turned Sandusky from industrial town to a tourist destination, attracting more than 3 million each year.
And he's not done yet.
Two weeks ago, Kinzel announced he would step down as company president and CEO the end of the 2007 season.
But before that, he plans to:
Build a $20 million indoor waterpark in Sandusky.
Expand Cedar Point's resort with more cottages and cabins.
Outdo this year's 420-foot-tall and 120-mph Top Thrill Dragster.
No one, not even Kinzel, could have imagined this windfall when he started in food services in 1972.
There is nothing that says that he really said that or if the Register was just editorializing. Since CEOs don't routinely give out future plans - not to mention the fact that capital improvement plans usually don't involve an ego or retirement gifts, I'm leaning toward editorializing. Of course, 2007 could bring the biggest thing Cedar Point has ever seen, but I'm pretty sure it's just a business decision.
But the story will never die. Now that it's on the Internet, it'll be with us forever. Just like the myth that the OnPoint! blog exists to hype a new ride. Or that Magnum is sinking.

it does not make sense to bring one of the last sections of the ride first. I am sure thay can not specify in which order they would receive the parts but it just seems strange that they would deliver the very top piece and leave it sit for a month or so before starting the ride. seems like it could get damaged sitting there for so long. I am going to look underneath the tarp tommorow and get pix
go to www.photobucket.com, make an account quickly (free of course), and upload your pictures there. Then post the links to those pictures here. (The links are located under your pictures in the thumbnail view of your album).
I think it would be looked down upon by the mods here to post pictures of what is under the tarp since it is off limits. I have a feeling Walt and Jeff won't be very happy if you post them. There are pictures here of the tarp and other construction markings.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Am I the only person on here that doesn't think we are getting a Screamin' Swing next year. Why would they be delivering parts for a ride that hasn't even had foundations poured yet? When they built Maxair they poured the foundations, then the parts arrived (january 27 according to the earliest pictures on CP's website). Why would parts be here already if they haven't excavated or done anything except paint the ground? Or am I way off base and maybe someone can show me where they built a screamin' swing somewhere else and followed this weird schedule where parts arrived before any site prep was done.... I am just as curious as everyone else.... Thanks
Mickeybo2004, to tell us your going to break the law is probably not the smartest thing you did. Even if you did take the pics and did post them. The post would be deleted or edited to remove the link as soon as walt or jeff saw it. So save yourself the hassel and just don't do it. It's not like it's a nuclear secret. Cedar Point will tell us when they are good and ready.

we're not questioning why parts would be here early persay. We're questioning why the top of the ride would be here, but the rest of the ride isn't?
