Any word or thought on a ride for 2006???

With a million dollar renovation of Castaway Bay, an expansion of the marina and a six million dollar SS Screaming Swing I think that will be the extent of captial expenditures for 06. As for the marking all over frontrier Town that will probably be for an 07 expansion.

Man oh Man people, after reading through some of the pages,....you guys are ALL WRONG. Havn't you heard that it is an extension for dragster!! Hence why dragster is down they are only putting in a bigger motor, CP figured they are running out of room and can't fit a 500 footer, so why not add on to dragster? ~_^ .Can't wait till 06 woot woot.

As a fire protection contractor we mostly use steel pipe. We don't use a ton of Underground PVC where I work, but as far as I know a full length is only about 10-15 foot long. From the pictures I took, I would say those are not cut pieces. IMO

Gotcha. Guess its hard to judge scale in those pics... at least for me! :)

Don't forget about the posibility of that Boardwalk type thing on the beach that someone mentioned a couple pages ago.

6 million for an S and S?

Doesn't CF have a credit with S&S because of the incident with Vertigo?

millenniumfore22, you are late. we have been discussing this for a week now.

I dont see how any one of us would know about a "credit."

sorry

i wish i was at cedar point

don't worry, you didn't miss anything if you haven't looked back at the previous pages.

You know way back a long time ago in this thread when an Screamin Swing was just mentioned I thought it looked stupid and didn't want one at all. No after watching that video it looks like a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to getting one. It seems a lot more open and faster than maXair. And I do agree that they would not put one in if they felt it was too much like maXair. Now I have a few theories:

1. The Screamin Swing will go over by the Bluestreak where those paint markings are. The midway over there is always dead and hasn't seen anything new is years. That would add something over there.

2. The Screamin Swing will go where the Demon Drop is. I don't think they would take out a thrill ride for no reason. Not much would fit there and the SS has a small footprint.

3. We are getting a water coaster back in FT. Everyone has been saying how old and dilapidated it is back there. It never is overly crowded and hasn't see anything in years. CP is already lacking in the water ride deparment. I don' t think they would take one out, especially one as beloved as WWL, and not replace it.

4. They are getting ready for the big 500 footer. We started seeing the construction for TTD way back in the seasons previous to it. It would not suprise me in the least if they tore down WWL and we saw a fence come up with a sign that read "Building for the Future".

Now I had one last idea. The SS runs on air pressure so could all the piping over by CCMR be for the air to travel through in the SS? All the pipes are straight and the SS tower is pretty much straight up. I don't really see much else all that straight piping could be used for.

Just my opinion. *** Edited 9/28/2005 1:56:25 AM UTC by matt1027***

THIS JUST IN THROUGH THE LCN (aka one of my friends thinks he heard it from 'people who know')

Not one, but TWO flat rides. One in FT, one elsewhere, and Demon Drop isn't leaving yet.

*shrug* I dunno, it might explain the wide variety of markings (thanks Jason for the great pic!).

Oh yeah, well my neighbor's hairdressers' cousin's sister's boyfriend's who once shoke hands with Mr. Kinzel himself said that we are getting the 500 footer. The screming swing supports were just shipped to the wrong place.

:)

"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"

Was white water landings still open this weekend?

One of the employees that I work with said that they were already starting to tear down WWL, and that they were just lettin pieces of it drop once they were un-bolted.

Just what I heard, I have no idea if its true or not.

those pipes DEFINITELY are not air pipes for anything. they're conduit, just like mentioned before.

btw, just because there are marking by WWL doesn't mean its coming out. we've all agreed that the markings are for utilities and that's so people who are digging know where they are. OR, so they can dig up the utilities and replace/add to them. why waste all that time marking up utilities just to have to remark them when you disassemble the ride?? i think WWL is staying.

I know from a very relialiable source that Vertigo was free from S&S. Maybe Jeff or Walt know more.

You know, I'm sure I'm not the only one who has thought this, but isn't it amazing how quickly roller coasters have been growing lately? I mean, in 1978, 125ft was tall. 11 years later, 205ft was amazing. 11 years after that, 310ft was phenomenal. And then, all the sudden (it seemed like), only 3 years go by and we break the next 100ft barrier. And now, only a few months after Six Flags unveils a 450+ foot scream machine, we are contemplating 500 feet! At this rate, by 2012 we will have 1,000 foot tall coasters! (not saying they will, but... ya know?)

You are not the first one to think this, it's just that the topic was discussed probably dozens of pages ago and it got beat to death.
