Any word or thought on a ride for 2006???

Here's 1 reason why the SS piece in the Soak City lot is NOT VF's:

The piece is white. The span on the VF pictures is red.

My speculation is this: CP will be getting a SS in 2006, but the hype created thus far (mainly by the blog) is far too great to end with a SS. There HAS to be something else in 2006, otherwise we'll have a whole ton of fanboys knocking down Mr. Kinzel's office ;-)

No, actually, I don't see any similarities between now and 2002.

Spence, how do you know it's white. Have you been a bad boy?

Hell no. I'm up here in Minnesota, there's no way I could have made it down there this weekend even if I wanted to. There are pictures over on ThePointOL that show the piece through a hole in the tarp and it's clearly NOT red, as Valleyfairs will be.

Trust me, I wouldn't do anything naughty like that.

I've got a question to those who have more experience with ride contruction:

One of the pictures of construction-related stuff shows a plethora of grey PVC pipe (cut - not full-length pieces) being stored near CCMR. Based on past construction observations, what would these be used for?

Brandon

The popular guess going around right now is that they can be used to hold and protect electrical wires and bundled cables.

That is not a guess, it is a reality. The PVC will be used as conduit for runnign electrical and comunications wiring.

Right, thats what they are typically used for. But its rare that you see them in uniformly cut, short pieces. If they were gonna use these to protect cables and what-not, wouldn't they be larger pieces?

As a fire protection contractor we mostly use steel pipe. We don't use a ton of Underground PVC where I work, but as far as I know a full length is only about 10-15 foot long. From the pictures I took, I would say those are not cut pieces. IMO

So the swing is not a gradual start to swing, it is sort of fired off? This can be the only way I would see much of a difference between maxair and the swing.

I can't believe people are so untrusting of CP/CF management. Don't you realize that if they felt the experience of a SS was too close to that of Maxair they wouldn't be putting them in back to back?

Geez, have a little faith.

SpenceMan,

Amen to that!

500 foot coaster baby!!

I love how people talk about "ALL THE HYPE FOR A SCREAMING SWING?"

The only hype has been two or three posts on the blog and a tarp. Really, all of the hype has been made by the fans.

wow i thought the top of the screamswing would be bigger than it appears to be, well at least its a small footprint ride, cant imagine it be more fun the ocean motion just a little faster. Oh well it appears that frontier town will get some nice sprucing up though with all the water and electircal that they will be laying.

Hey on Sidenote whats up with snoopy holding up the OC guys on the simpsons at Knotts?

Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.

Alright I haven't been able to post that much lately because I lost my Internet connection and get on when I can at a local library or something. After reading these last two pages though everyone is still locked on as far as a Screamin Swing. One Point I'd like to bring up. Cedar Point has 16 coasters, most parks have like 10-12 coasters. We are Lucky! So we shouldn't be so dissapointed if this ride is in fact a screamin swing. There was also the headline the other day that Cedar Point might be lowering ticket Prices because the average family probably can't afford the $45 dollar tickets. I can see this as a move as well for 2006 even though its not confirmed. I can't see Cedar Point lowering it to too low, maybe like $37 bucks, thats it. I also wanted to say, WWL could still go this year, and if it does, we could still see a water coaster or another flume go in its place. Another option is what some of you other folks said on here, and just modify it, but I don't see that happening. That's just my opinion though. If we do see this screaming swing next year, WWL could still be cleared to make way for 2007 ride. When Top Thrill Dragster was being built in 2002 there was a huge wall that said Cedar Point is building for the Future. So I can see them starting construction during next season for whatever goes in it's place. Most people are saying Water Coaster, and I still think we will see one in the future.

Okay I just thought about this new idea for the Screamin swing. Everbody knows that CP likes to take rides and make them extreme and unique right? So I was thinking that what if we get a Screamin Swing what if we had it with seats that spin like the cars on X at SFMM. They way it could work is that the pendilum starts to move like it normally does. But when it starts to get higher the cars could flip forward and backwards just like on X. I think that would set it apart from Maxair and make it a pretty cool ride that would definitly set it apart from other screamin swings.

Well I took a virtual ride on the Screamin Swing at Valleyfair's website. If this thing only has lap bars, this will be one heck of a thrill.

I agree with Shawn Meyer and others above. 2006 = SS plus some "ready work" for something "higher...taller....faster..." in 2007 that will make us feel silly for ever whining.

If you havent done it yet, check out VF's website and watch it and tell me you wouldn't love to ride that! I may have underestimated the swing's funitude.

I think spinning seats would actually make it MORE like Maxair, but that's just me. It's not as easy as just saying "well then, they should make THIS ride" and it all works out. =/

It would seem to me that CP made their huge push at appealing to thrill seekers with some of the biggest and most intense rides ever built (so far), and now theyre pulling back a bit. They are still building and still developing, but they went and did that, now they're building more family-based areas and more general guest-appealing rides, ala a Screaming Swing. It might be better suited for those who cannot handle rides as intense as Maxair, where it spins you around. I could see some very nice family-themed developments in Frontierstown not only helping that park get revitalized, but appealing to more familes and pulling more people into the park, allowing the cycle to continue in the future. *** Edited 9/26/2005 11:10:29 PM UTC by Grovite18***

Trust me guys, you will love the swing if you like maXair. The experience is just awesome. Its very open, and really cool with the air propulsion. And the huge difference is that it DOESN'T spin. I think you guys are forgetting how many people can't do the spin-and-pukes because they do just that - puke.
