Any word or thought on a ride for 2006???

Yes,it's under a tarp. But the 2 pretty obvious hints from Jeff and Walt are pretty tell tale as to what it is. If you look at Valleyfair's ride, you can see it is pretty obviously the top to a SS Swing

Thats what it seems like. S&S swing near the front (where DD resides?) for next year, and a larger attraction in FT for '07. I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

Wait... Magnum is sinking?!

dude.. its under a tarp! you don't know the actual shape of what is under there. It could be a group of pieces set next to each other and it just happens to look like that.

Denials not just a river in Egypt!

Could Snake River Falls be going.

You know, I've been told that, and have heard that a number of times in the last several weeks (some of which were more reliable sources than others). I just blew it off as them confusing it with White Water Landing though.

Well I was sitting there looking at a map and some of the pictures that were taken and It all suddenly made sense to me. I think there are numerous reasons why Snake River Falls would go over WWL. The first being to open up more access to the Millennium Island, where the first speculation began with the dirt piles and there are now orange flags over there if I am correct. Also WWL is the only one that can operate the entire season, I mean half of the time I don't even see Snake River Falls open, Or it is running completely empty boats just to show that it is open. Alot of people just don't seem to want to be drenched, and that is why WWL almost always has at least a little bit of a line and I don't remember the last time I saw more than a 5 minute wait for Snake River Falls. I think its days are numbered.

My wife and I just returned from our first of 2 Halloweekend trips, and this was my first chance to get a first hand view of all this stuff. People thought I was crazy when we were on Magnum and I pointed over at the Soak City parking lot excitedly saying "Theres the tarp! Theres the tarp!"

I must say that I have zero doubt that what is under the blue tarp is the top of a Screamin Swing.

What I find odd are three things:

1) All this "hype" on the blog for this contraption.

2) All the construction markings cover an area that far surpasses what is necessary for this ride.

and

3) That Cedar Fair would open the SAME ride in two of its parks the same year.

My hope is one of 2 things: First, that this is going to Valleyfair and is here to throw us off, or second, (and I think this is the case) that this is part of a bigger improvement package.

I just think its wierd that we just got Maxair, and then this? On the bright side, its something else to make other lines shorter.

I have faith in whatever Cedar Fair does that CP will continue to be the best park on the planet for a LONG time coming. While I may not understand this addition (and come on, who doesnt want the 500 footer NOW...lol)...I will enjoy it!

It is strange since this ride is sort of similar to Maxair that they would get it the year after Maxair opens.

Maybe their just trying to replenish their collection of rides after several flats have been removed over the past few years for roller coasters.

maXair is NOT the same ride as a Screamin' Swing. We've been over this. Two totally different rides and two totally different ride sensations. PERIOD.

Are you guys aware that the Screamin' Swing has only lap bars? That alone gives it a different type of thrill than MaXair.

The markings in Frontier Town are obviously much bigger in area than is needed for just a Screamin' Swing, or whatever is under the tarp.

Few people here seem to be able to see the big picture, or remember what happened in the past. Do you remember that "basement" for the "restaurant" that was supposed to replace Dodgem 1? Do you think it is possible that CP may be getting an early start to something that will be opened after the 2006 season?

I am new so could you fill me in on this "basement" and "restaurant" thing? Or are you saying this was another rumor that never panned out.

It's hard for me, I am trying to play catch up here.

Speaking of the lapbars on the Screamin' Swing, I hope the large capacity rides have an automated system of some sort. The up-charge 8-person rides take a LONG time to load.

I believe the "basement" is the foundation work for the tower of TTD.

What "basement-restaraunt" thing are you speaking of?

I was not around for that...

:)

Maxair and the swing are not that different. You swing in a pendulum on both. Difference is that max air's seating spins in a circle while the swing's seats are stationary. Is there something else I am missing? I admit I don't know that much about the swing, but swinging back and forth in an arc only does so much for me as I am not fond of such rides for some reason,I don't even like ocean motion lol.

Perhaps the funniest thread since the infamous 'Lemon Chill Guy'...

Read all about it here

The saddest thing is that this was seriously someone's idea...

Too bad they scrapped the restaurant and built the world's tallest coaster instead

It'll probably be pretty funny to read this thread in a few years.

Heck it's pretty funny to read now.

We've covered the difference between the swing and maXair so many times, it isn't even funny. One is propelled by air and one uses a mechanical motor. Two totally different experiences. To me its like the difference between a launched coaster and a gravity coaster.

You will all see when you ride the swing. Its an instant sensation. maXair takes a while before the momentum gets to the point where the ride is fun. You'll see. :-)

My $.02 ...
If we are getting a SS then why are the pieces here already? Didn't Maxair's parts not show up until the end of January? Why would the parts be here so soon? When they built Maxair they had the foundation done before the parts even arrived.... Just a thought...

It's starting to look like the 500 foot coaster will be coming in 2007. I remember hearing about a 400 foot coaster being built where Dragster currently is before there was any talk about Wicked Twister.

I think a couple big things are clear. First, the blue tarp is covering up a screamin' swing. Second, there is too much build up for that ride alone. I'm guessing next year will include the addition of a water coaster as well. It looks like both are part of a larger project to change some of the paths and buildings in Frontier Town. This could lead up to a 500 foot coaster in 2007. I could only hope that Town Hall Museum and the natural beauty of the area will be spared in the process.

Before the start of the 2002 season, the year before Top Thrill Dragster was opened, CP removed Dodgem 1. A number of seasonal employees reported that they dug a "basement" where Dodgem 1 was. It was speculated by some that the "basement" was a new restaurant. In reality, this was a big hole for the tower footers off TTD. A construction fence was put up around the area for the entire 2002 season. TTD was constructed in the 2002-2003 off season.

Now do you see some similarity to what is going on this year?
