Nothing surprises me anymore. We had people here who whined about Top Thrill Dragster when it opened ("that's it?!"). No matter what Cedar Point does, we'll have people who think they deserve more. We'll always have people who can't see the bigger picture.
Haha, Walt. That's right, it is Launch, Top hat, Brakes!
Haven't thought about all that L-TH-B hype in a while.
How bout this one: if you're not happy with what CP is getting, don't ride it. It's that simple. Cedar Point has 68 rides, so go ride something you like, and stop whining about it.
2005/2006: Cedar Point - Millennium Force
2007/2008/2009: Walt Disney World - Magic Kingdom - Tomorrowland Speedway
2008: Hard Rock Park - Maximum RPM! Opening Supervisor
2008/2009: Universal Orlando - Men in Black: Alien Attack Team Leader, Guest Services Coordinator
Walt you have a great point but, I think even you can admit it's way to much hype for a SS. If CP puts it in I will ride it. But yes it was a let down. Why? Because of the hype that was given to it. If MaxAir was given that kind of hype then I would of been let down as well. But it wasn't, it was announced and most were fine with it.

101 on Magnum and counting...
You guys are creating the hype by making too many assumptions. The first mistake is that, despite my best efforts to persuade everyone otherwise, people are still convinced that the blog only exists to hype a new ride. So, if you falsely believe that this is only a new ride blog, anything less than the next Millennium Force is a disappointment. The second mistake is, since a lot of people here are the young thrill seeking type, anything outside of a major coaster will cause some level of complaining. It happens every year.
Besides, few here can seem to think outside the box.

That's two hints Walt, you are hinting "outside the box" and "the bigger picture".
What aren't you trying to say? You know don't you!!
Yes, of course you do but I know you can't say.
2007 is going to be the year isn't it?
There is nothing that could live up to everyones expectations. There will be people who will love a SS. There is more than one demographic that an amusement park has to cater to. Do you expect them to just say, "oh by the way, not that it's anything special, but we're building a SS for 06." No, they are going to promote it as much as they can, and in any way they can.

I think everyone just gets bored in the winter and watching CP build a coaster gives them something to watch on the webcams all winter and then something to look forward to riding in the spring.
Helps beat the winter blahs. Even if they get carried away a bit it keeps them out of trouble.
lol
I'm not saying that the Swing is going to suck. I love that ride and I'm glad they're getting one. It just seems like every park is getting one this year. I liked the days when theme parks around the world would get different rides every year. It made it fun travelling the country and riding "unique rides". When every large park puts in the same ride, its just like "uh, what's the point in visiting that park"?
Don't get me wrong, I'll love the swing at CP. And, hopefully its the tallest and fastest and has something else about it that's unique. I just like CP to be the best because its my hometown park and I love bragging about how good it is. :-)
I'll take anything. I really don't care what it is. But I can bet my life on a coaster for either 2006 or 2007.
If you want to ride a new ride thats not going anywhere else, go to Worlds of Fun and ride Patriot. I would if I could...
I may know what is coming this year! Did you want a hint or maybe the hole thing? Check here every day for the clue. Todays clue: FT.
Bring back Boblo!
Yes I also know it is an S&S Swing. Do I get a cookie? lol

No offense jkoaster but, anyone who has been posting here for the last 20 pages give or take already knows that it has to do with Frontier Town.

And just because it looks like the top suuports for a S&S doesn't mean it is and S&S.

The fact the thing under the tarp has the shape of the top of a screaming swing, plus Jeff's post on the 2006 Watch page about the top of Valleyfairs ride "looking familiar" pretty much sums it up for me.

Could Snake River Falls be going.
You know, I've been told that, and have heard that a number of times in the last several weeks (some of which were more reliable sources than others). I just blew it off as them confusing it with White Water Landing though. *** Edited 9/25/2005 6:56:30 PM UTC by DBCP***
2007: Millennium Force, 2008: Millennium Force ATL, 2009: Top Thrill Dragster

The end also looks a bit like the two rails for a piece of track. Kinda looks like B&M to me.

Wait... Magnum is sinking?!
dude.. its under a tarp! you don't know the actual shape of what is under there. It could be a group of pieces set next to each other and it just happens to look like that.
