I participated in one of the in-park surveys this year. I found it interesting that one of the questions was:
"Would you be interested in a boardwalk style area on the beach that offered a wide variety of shops and restaurants?" *** Edited 9/23/2005 7:39:29 PM UTC by DBCP***
That would be great. It would really add something different to the mix.
I know whats under the Blue Tarp! It's dragsters long awaited new parts!;)
IMO, water rides are rather silly. slow...no thrill...just a splash. WOW. just splash some water on yourself in the bathroom. Replace WWL with a 500 steel coaster. Please.
I was at the park today and the park was closed from the WWL exit to the guessing game at the back of the park. You couldn't get to Mean Streak or the train and I do not remember them doing this last Hallowweekends. If anybody knows if they did this last year let me know.
They probably figure that there's no reason for people to be roaming around areas of the park where there is nothing open. *** Edited 9/24/2005 4:34:31 AM UTC by DBCP***

It is just for Friday nights to keep the traffic down back there as those attractions are not open. If they do not let people back there, it is less to clean and less food service and merchandise locations that need to be opened.
I know from the employee schedules that the area back by Mean Streak will be open on Saturday and Sunday.

They can do whatever they feel like.
They do what I tell them *shakes fist*.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I haven't seen anyone mention anything about the item under the tarp after the park closed Friday night. I took a walk out to the Soak City lot tonight to get a closer look at the mysterious object. It definitely isn't track. My assumption, is that it is an archway for some sort of tunnel possibly or entrance sign that looks like this: nnn, all connected together in once piece, with the top completely flat. Roman Aquaduct was the first thing I thought of when I saw it.

What in the Hellmans could it be then? Was it metal? What color was it? It's not for a coaster then?
It was under the tarp and I wasn't about to look underneath, not my place...but from the looks of the structure of it, the way the tarp was "hugging" it due to rain water on it, was definitely steel. Looked quite heavy.

I saw it too. Didn't get any pictures, but the way the tarp was resting on it from the water, it definitley seemed like the top piece of a Screamin' Swing (3 connected half-circles) based on the rendering of the announced Xtreme Swing for Valleyfair. ( http://www.valleyfair.com/insidethepark/rides/coasterthrillrides/xtremeswing.cfm ). Do you agree BirdOfPrey00? *** Edited 9/24/2005 6:00:32 AM UTC by DBCP***

When BirdOfPrey was describing what he saw, my first reaction was "that's the crossbar of a Screamin Swing". Why only the top span though? No supports, no nothing else.
Wouldn't it be a cruel joke if CF decided to bring VF's parts to CP for a few days in transit to VF just to mess with us? I highly doubt thats the case, but it'd be funny no less.
I participated in one of the in-park surveys this year. I found it interesting that one of the questions was:
"Would you be interested in a boardwalk style area on the beach that offered a wide variety of shops and restaurants?"
YES! YES! YES! That is exactly what CP needs. Not only would this be FUN, it would attract a family and non-coaster audience big time. I'm glad to see that they are on the right track, or at least asking the right questions.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Well were leaving in 45 minutes for the park! :) I would love to seea big boardwalk area...that would be nice.
Now that im here....my wife lost her photo id season pass...i know its $15...but does anyone know how long the procedure takes to replace it? I have 30 minutes of time budgeted in just in case ;)
Why would Cedar Point need an Extreme Swing ride after just installing Maxair? Aren't they basiclly the same type of rides?
No John, Maxair spins. So in a sense, if CP puts in a SS, it would be a lesser ride. Not that I wouldn't enjoy it. But, it would seem silly to me to have to very similar rides such as this. Put in a SWAT instead. That's a lot different, and is extreemly fun.
Edit: I didn't mean to say that "it spins too" I know SS doesn't spin. Sorry for the confusion.

DBCP, now that I look at that picture, yes, I do believe that is what the piece is. I'd say it was a good 30-40' long and probably a good 10-12' tall, if it were standing up.
Also, I did notice there were a few rips that they didn't cover up with duck tape...now, it was dark, and the wind was whipping around the site, but I think the object could either be blue, or possibly white, with the illusion of blue from the color of the tarp and a light pole near by illuminating it.

No need to question or second guess. This is 100% a Screamin' Swing. Just look at the outline shape of the tarp photo and compare to the top of the ride on Valleyfair's site. CP is 100% getting a Screamin' Swing in 2006. Just announce it already CP.
My question...then why does WWL need to come down for such a small ride coverage area, or is something else coming as well?
