I’m assuming they will announce it more towards the end of the year. maXair was announced in December and to the best of my knowledge and memory TTD and MF were announced in the fall or slightly later as well.
Someone mentioned in an earlier post about putting two trains or different types on the same track. Which brings me to my first question...can an Inverted train keep up with a floorless? If so, shouldn't it be possible to take a giga-box track and add extended running rails to the top and bottom? Sporting the floorless above and invert below they should be able to duel or race or whatever you wanna call it. Vertical Loops will be okay. a corkscrew/barrel roll should work. Cobra Roll would be interesting. But its seems like it would work.
And I know they already have an inverted coaster.

MF was announced in July, and we already talked about your track idea earlier in this thread.

It's basically up to Cedar Point rather or not to announce the next attraction. If they want to build up some tension, they will. They're not like other parks that announce what coaster their getting weeks before any construction starts. They like to make us wonder.
Let's just hope there IS something worth wondering over. Like a coaster!

Good Call dude, I think if we start seeing Footers all in a huge line, with turns and such, you'll know it's a coaster. Another thing to look for is if you see track laying around in Soak Citys Parking lot like what we saw for Millennium Force.
dueling coasters on the same track would not work out well because you would not be able to see the other train. it would not have near hit situations, and it would not feel like you would be racing.
Don't get me wronge though, it is a good idea.

Past ride announcements, taken from PointBuzz history timeline:
Millennium Force: July 22, 1999
Wicked Twister: November 20, 2001
Top Thrill Dragster: January 9, 2003
maXair: December 1, 2004
Clearly Cedar Point does not follow a pattern when they announce new rides since they range from July to January, that's a 6 month range right there.

CP_bound, The track idea was mine.
Shawn, based on the article linked earlier in this thread, Cedar Fair will likely make an announcement regarding the capital investments for all the parks some time after labor day. Though we may hear sooner as we have seen with Patriot.

That idea has been around ever since Intamin box track was used on Millennium Force, actually. It looks like one company (Setpoint) has somewhat made a design out of it. Rather than having different trains on the top and bottom, they are on either side.
Here's a screenshot from RCT3:Wild as an example:

They are X-style trains and when you first board them they have the illusion of being one train. Then they split, do their own thing, and come back together again later. It's a pretty innovative idea, and would most likely solve the structural problems Arrow ran into with X since the supports wouldn't have to bear as much of a load though the course. That box truss track is very good about being self-supporting, and the supports in high speed elements would only have "half" of a train's forces to deal with.

I find it funny that at americacoasters.com they have a nice long thread about what to name the new "dueling flyers" that are gonna be at Cedar Point.
When will they learn that CP is gettin a 500 ft launched inverted bobsled with 18 inversions.
"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"
What I would like more than anything is another roller coaster like Millennium Force. Something nice and fast where inversions aren't necessary. People might say "why do we need another roller coaster like Millennium Force?" Because look at the popularity of it, why not build something else like it? It doesn't have to be a record breaker, just a nice coaster with a large lay out. I would much rather prefer something like that over a flyer.

I'm sure theres alot of people who would prefer something other than a flyer. Another MF would be cool. Look at Magnum...its been there 16 years and is still a great ride. Will MF be the say way after all those years? Time can only tell. It'll be interesting to see what the park has evolved into in another 10 years. I mean look back to 1993. Old causeway sign, no raptor, mf, ttd, wt etc etc. The park has come along, and will keep coming along. Its gone be one wild ride.
(and yes i know thats more than 10 years back.)
"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"
In 1995 their feature rides were Magnum, Raptor, Gemini, Mean Streak, and maybe Corkscrew.
Since then Mantis, Millennium Force, WT, and TTD have been added, along with Power Tower and maXair. The park has changed very nicely. I can't wait to see what we will have in 2015.

I like what Vince said. I wouldn't however want to see a 500 foot coaster. Relating to Vince's Idea I wouldn't mind seeing Hyper-Twister coaster, maybe 240 feet tall. But I would rather see a Floorless come to Cedar Point next year or the flyer. Im more leaning to the floorless. The reason I like Floorless so much is because I love that feeling of air beneath me going along the track. I was really impressed with Dominator and think a ride like that at Cedar Point would do really well especially if you put it in Frontiertown. If we bring a Floorless, I think you'll only see a couple records broken, and that would be for the worlds tallest and maybe fastest.
As far as Americacoasters, I think they are pushing the limits too soon as far as names for something that is rumored. We don't know what Cedar Point is getting, it's just rumors right now. And now we have land markings over by Cedar Creek Mine Ride, which could be anything, but I think it's for the new ride next season.
I don't understand why so many people don't want a 500 foot coaster. I'm not saying I really want one, my position is if they build one, great! if they don't, oh well maybe next time. Saying you don't want a 500 footer is like declining a free $100 bill.

First off, a hyper twister isnt that great when you have MF and Magnum in a park. This is because a hyper twister gets good air time(like Magnum) and good speed(similar to MF). An example would be the 1st one ever built, Raging Bull at the crap hole park with gigantic lines, SF:Great America. The problem with building this in CP is that
1.it takes up a large amount of room(which CP wouldnt have even with WWL gone)
2.will seem tame in compairison to MF unless it gets massive air time because B&G wont build 300ft(and the lift hill time would suck)
3.if it follows suit with other B&G hyper twisters it will have train reliability problems in yr 2 and beyond which will kill capacity.
there are the reasons why no hyper twister will be built.
A flyer could be good if it was about 150' and went 60-65 with atleast 4 inversions. S:UF is a very slow and boring flyer after the very cool diving loop at the beginning of the ride and all its turns for the flying sensasion occur at speeds too low to be exciting. If CP build big with a flyer it could be good as long as it had that great loop element in S:UF.
And a dive machine would be great as long as it was CPized with a higher first drop than at BGT.
