A ride that CP doesn't have & you wish it would...

Couldn't "Dinosaurs Alive" count as a family attraction if they didn't upcharge it?

Oh, yeah, this is a little off-subject, but I would love to see a 4D coaster.

Dinosaurs Alive is a family attraction, upcharge or not.

And Dinos Alive was a nice 'free' family attraction for Platinum Pass holders, but with its end all but confirmed after next year - that will be one less family attraction in the park. When I think of family attractions, I try to imagine something that an entire family can enjoy - from the less than 40" tall young child to the 80 something grandparent who walks with a cane or some other assistance. Not every family attraction will blanket that entire age range, but that should still be at least a part of the consideration when planning for families. I envision things like the Paddlewheel Excursion, the petting zoo, the glassblowing theater, etc. Family attractions can be, but are not exclusively, tame flat rides or less than 200 foot roller coasters.

“Family Attraction Capital of the World” Or “America’s Rockin’ Family Attraction Coast” just doesn’t really roll off the tongue. Too bad Cedar Fair didn’t have a smaller park within an hour or so from Cedar Point that could serve as a more traditional, not-so-high-thrill park... **duck & run**

Cedar Point is easily big enough that it can be both, it was back in the 60's - 80's. The coasters can nicely co-exist with some large scale family attractions. Having some family attractions that are extravagant and in the scope of a headlining coaster but are interesting and fun for everyone is missing from the park. I think those attractions would certainly fill some hotel rooms and add to a family vacation.

^^Although not owned by Cedar Fair, Kennywood Amusement park :(outside of Pittsburgh,PA) is only 2 hours away from Cleveland and is my go to fix for a smaller traditional family park. I highly recommend it.

Yes, Pete a traditional log flume or a dark ride need to be added to round out the park's lineup. Hell, I'd even get on the Sky Slide if they brought it back! Good times.

That's kind of what I was thinking, Controlled spin, tons of near misses, and you have one terrifying ride.

How about combining a log flume and a dark ride? Put a story behind it, and that seems like a winning combo.

It's not an inconceivable idea, and it's one we have discussed here in the not-so-recent past, specifically when Shoot the Rapids was closed. In fact, in my personal pipe dream, that's precisely what I would love to see.

That looks awesome. I've personally never been to Knott's berry farm, but I would like to visit one day, along with carowinds and alton towers. Although what would you theme a dark ride/log flume to at Cedar Point? Lumberjacks wouldn't make sense, as we're jammed on a peninsula... Probably a fishery?

Cedar Point has a history with pirates, there are the Boneville skeletons, and the fact that anything frontier-esque would be pretty easy to theme to for anyone with an ounce of imagination.

Not so long ago, Cedar Fair announced something called "Amusement Dark", a campaign to place a modern dark ride in each park in the Cedar Fair chain. While I absolutely loathe the interactive video-game rides, that's what the chain got, but only in two parks; Canada's Wonderland and Knott's.

Since then, there has been no mention of this campaign by the company's leadership.

Intamin's inability to design a simple flume ride led to the accident. In all seriousness, the boats for STR were always a huge problem. They were never able to load boats fully, and nothing was ever done to rectify the problem.

It's all speculation, as it was never released what actually happened.

It seems as if I am one of the very few who doesn’t enjoy log flumes. Maybe because I associate them with having wet soggy feet for the rest of the day. There has to be better rides that don’t get you wet.

I've never had a problem with soggy shoes on flume rides. They usually splash/spray water at your torso and leave your legs (relatively) dry. At least, in my experience.

Speaking of wet, soggy feet... Are you allowed to take your shoes off for Snake River Falls and Thunder Canyon? I was happily surprised to find out Dorney Park allows bare feet on White Water Landing (shoot the chutes).

Yup. No shirt, no shoes, no problem.

Wouldnt recommend bare feet on srf only because the metal grate on the bridge will shred your feet. maybe flip flops or water shoes.

So, instead of just tearing down STR, they could've inspected the mechanics and redesigned the boats then?
