Oh believe me when I say, they have ALWAYS considered it a coaster. "Shuttle coaster" is the term I believe they use. Goliath is still the tallest full circuit coaster at SFMM. It's really not that difficult, I don't know why people still don't get it. There is MORE THAN ONE type of coaster in the world.
Ever think what's going though the CEO of Cp? Im sheer that cedar point will become the park with the most coasters again. Look at their aggressive approach with coasters, you got MF 310 ft. Mantis 14* ft. Raptor 135 ft. Mean streak 161 ft. Magnum 205 ft. These were all recorded breakers! I don't think Cedar Point will go down with out a fight! I have a feeling we are going to see a big coaster{s}in year 2002.
Look at SFMM's approach, you've got Goliath 255 ft, The Riddler's Revenge 156 ft, Superman The Escape 415 ft, Viper 188 ft, all record breakers!
I think that this feud between Cedar Point & SFMM has just begun and 2003 may be the year it breaks into hell!
BTW: Calm down, people are all mad that Cedar Point is loosing the record, you will regain it! I haven't gotten all ster-crazy because SFMM is gaining the record!
I am telling ya it's gonna be a CCI woodie and a B&M sit-down looper (Kumba style) for CP in 2002 to set the score to 16-15(14:)) GO CP, BEAT MM!!!

GO SPARTANS!!!
Magic Mountain has shocked the world (GTTP's world anyway ;)) with this announcement, but who says they are done building coasters? Who knows, maybe SFMM will announce 3 more for 2002? Nobody can say for sure where the crown will be in 2002. Not yet, anyway!

Only 2290½ miles from Cedar Po!nt
I don't care at all about the "record", other then the fact that more coasters will be built by both parks in the coming years.
I'm waiting to hear completion dates for "X" so I can book my airline tickets early...

The announcement was made today. You can see the 3D animations of both Deja and X on the official site.

I love Cedar Point, but I'm headin' out to California sometime next year...
X looks pretty cool -- welcome back Arrow. Maybe.

Arrows Existence could be riding on X. It looks sweet, but can the ride execute. A 200 foot tall prototype? Arrow must know what they are doing. Every decade or so they seem to some out with something that puts them on the map again (looper, hyper). I hope X is it. I also hope midsummer tickets to So-cal are not that expensive.

Don't worry, the ticket prices will probobly only raise about $2 making it only $41! I love season passes!
Wow, what a thread!!!
You have to go to the top to figure out if this "loss" of the record means anything. I recall an Annual Report that quoted Dick Kinzel as saying Cedar Fair would do everything in it's power to retain the record for most coasters in one park.
While it may slip away in '01, I suspect the story isn't over.
Here, maybe this will calm all of your worries. Read this article from the Sandusky Register:
http://www.sanduskyregister.com/cgi-bin/LiveIQue.acgi$rec=58346?frontpage Looks like CP's gonna put up a little fight.
Jeff
Finally! I figured this would eventually happen once the record was really endangered. Since it wasn't a real threat a couple of years ago, CP had no reason to dispute its authenticity, but now we HAVE to fight back if we want to keep our record. Happy fighting Robin and try to win the record back!!

Trim brakes-a necessity???
At the most they would still tie. So I don't see how disputing that would change SFMM's current maketing plan. So, who cares?
This could get very interesting in the next few months.

MF Count: 11
Judge, the way I see it, almost all of CP's coasters have had world records when they debuted which would make our coasters better which should entitle us some sort of tie-breaking win. Just a thought, it would be the same count but people would probably want to come to CP to ride THEIR 14 coasters rather than going to SFMM. (this is assuming travel $ and time is no factor)

Trim brakes-a necessity???
It's on very VERY good word that SFMM isn't going to roll over and die either when CP fights for the record. There's already plans for a monster woodie [cringes] before 2003. Plus Administration seems to be getting serious about improving the themeing of the park. So SFMM is a force to be reckoned with.
Now, there's a quote in that Sandusky Register article made by Andy Gallardo at SFMM that states that SFMM and CP are actually good friends. What's wrong with some good old fashioned competition between friends? :)
I think us enthusiasts take it a little too far, almost bordering hatred. We should be friends, join hands, and sing 'Kumbaya' as we all stand around a big Psyclone bonfire. :)
Hey Gang,
Am I The Only One Who Believes CP WILL NOT be getting a new coaster in 2002 (let alone two coasters)! I believe CP will make renovations to the park throughout 2001-2002...and come back in 2003 with 1) A B/M Floorless 2) A Small Woodie...but I don't think they will reclaim the title anytime soon...
Just my opinions on how I think the park will be run..Love to hear comments :)
"We should be friends, join hands, and sing 'Kumbaya' as we all stand around a big Psyclone bonfire."
I think a lot of GTTPers would like that... it would mean their park didn't lose the record. ;)

How dare you vanquish the Steel Phantom without his consent? Fear the Phantom's Revenge.
Wait, CP had already claimed that they once had the tallest fastest coaster, meaning that they dont consider superman a rollercoaster, since it is both taller and faster. Even at the bottom of the article it said that SD2K was the tallest, also meaning superman is not a coaster. It would be funny to see these to parks fight over a silly thing. FIGHT!! If they dont improve the Mean Streak, burn that too why we sing.
