Yea I was kinda confused, theres quite a few flyers outside the USA, and any ride done correctly would be an instant success (or should be anyway). But like I've said before just because we haven't seen one built recently or before doesn't mean it wouldn't happen, again Valravan was the first Dive to open in the USA since Griffon in 2007. Just because it's been a few years doesn't mean there obsolete just yet. And just because Kings Island has a flyer doesn't mean we couldn't expect one to come to CP either, just look at Banshee. Why add an invert when the park already had 2, and CP which had Raptor, but they did anyway and the ride was an instant success. Plus Flying Dinosaur at Universal Studios was quite a success and proved to be very popular.

Flyers have terrible capacity and also - perhaps most importantly - don't have the reputation of being popular.

Vekoma Flyers have terrible capacity, not B&M Flyers. They have 2 loading stations, and keep a high capacity. As for popularity, Manta (SW Orlando) and Tatsu (SFMM) are stars (or co-stars) for their parks' coaster lineup, and are in fact very popular, and spectacular rides!

I'm not really a fan of flyers.
I'm wondering if/how they do a test seat for these rides.
I could see that being a factor for CP not getting one, if they cannot provide a test seat.

Through my experience with Superman: Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Great Adventure, I'd say it has atrocious capacity... for a B&M. Even if the line is short it always ends up being one of the longest waits in the park. This is mainly due to the slow loading and unloading process accompanied with flying coasters and a single loading station. They are popular rides for sure. People, including myself, enjoy the idea of the flying position. One problem with Superman is it only runs two trains which limits capacity. Rides like Tatsu at Six Flags Magic Mountain and Manta at Seaworld Orlando have dual stations which definitely helps. If Cedar Point installed a flying coaster, they would most likely build a dual station to help capacity. If I recall, the reason Cedar Fair never built a flying coaster is because Mr. Kinzel didn't particularly enjoy them. With Ouimet in charge, I'd say there is a greater probability. Who knows right? I do like the idea of a flying coaster over Millennium Island though. They could really play around with the lagoon and the trees of Millennium Island.

I touched on my thoughts on this in my previous post, but the problem with the Superman: Ultimate Flight clones is that first off, they are clones, and second off, Six Flags went cheap and decided to go single station. If you see what B&M can really do with flying coasters, they are amazing. If Cedar Point got a flyer, they would have 4 trains (2 in station, 1 on track, one on lift hill) and a dual station. The dual station works miracles, and gives amazing capacity!

I'm glad to see someone who likes the idea of a flyer on Millennium Island that interacts with the trees and lagoon!! :)

The last one made in the United States was Manta in 2009. Even Six Flags has given up on the design with 3 Superman:Ultimate Flights from 2003 and Tatsu in 2006. Those are the only B&M Flyers in existence right now.

Right. I understood that. I'm sorry I didn't spell that out more clearly.

I don't think the market in the United States is looking at flyers with an sort of seriousness right now. I think there are bigger "gaps" (if there are any) in Cedar Point's lineup. It just isn't necessary at all.

I'd much rather see a coaster that an entire family (including families with teenagers) can enjoy together like a Firechaser Express or a GCI woodie. Something small that can still be a lot of fun. A flyer hits one demographic really hard: the enthusiasts/thrillseeking GP. When was the last time Cedar Point built one for the whole family to enjoy? I think that's Iron Dragon if you're not including Disaster Transport (enclosing the ride doesn't count) or Woodstock Express.

The argument with the inverted coasters is just silly to me though. If you really think that Invertigo (Face/Off) and Flyin Ace Aerial Chase are in any way comparable to a B&M Invert, then we might as well be on two separate planets. You're comparing a park getting an invert when they already had 2 that aren't even the same experience, to a park that doesn't have a flyer and yet you think they should get one. It's apples and oranges. Besides, I bet if you took a poll and asked enthusiasts which type was better a flyer or an inverted, I think you'd find that an inverted gives a much better experience.

A flyer hasn't been built in the United States in 7 years. This has been something that Cedar Point enthusiasts have been clamoring for ever since they came out and one that management has said repeatedly that they wouldn't build. I just don't see how they could practically do it in a way that would be done well with regards to capacity and even popularity. A well done wooden coaster or family-type coaster is something I could see fitting in with this park's lineup much better.

I would love to see a new family coaster at CP especially like what WolfBobs said, something like Cobras Curse, with heavy theming would be a perfect fit and fill the gap for a good quality family coaster.

As for the inverted coasters, obviously a standard Vekoma Invertigo or Family invert is no competition for a B&M invert, but your argument was about Vekoma flyers, which use different track, trains, operations, variances in restraints, as well as the fact Vekoma has a history of rougher more painful rides. Where as B&M build rides superior in every way to Vekoma. I think you just misunderstood my point. As for this whole poll of invert vs flyer the only reason I'm really pushing to see a flyer is because it seems like a really unique ride that is unlike anything else CP has to offer, Im not saying flyers are the best type of coaster out there, but if CP went all out, gave this ride a great theme, layout, and enteraction with location it could be something amazing.

To be honest, I'd see a new flume ride as a waste. With Thunder Canyon and SRF I think the park is covered in dry park water rides. Never really have enjoued flumes. Rides like SRF are fantastic and river rapids rides are totally fun but I don't care for the slow meandering of log flumes. Le Scoot at BGW was awful in my opinion and it has a pretty low capacity.

Well, as long as you don't like 'em then they shouldn't have one.

Flumes are great rides that appeal to a broad audience, rides that get you soaked such as SRF and TC, not so much. My wish list for CP has a flume in the #1 spot especially if they can incorporate it into a dark ride.

So condescending... Never said that at all. I said it would be a waste (in my opinion) hence the use of (I'd see).

I don't see the point of a water ride that doesn't get you wet. Might as well build a family/kiddie coaster but to each his own.

If they built a dark ride flume there is a good chance that after a couple seasons the effects would become an afterthought.

Well, lots of folks that ride Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, It's a Small World, and Splash Mountain see the point of a water ride that doesn't get you soaked. Flume/boat rides are great family friendly rides that appeal to people of all heights, ages, etc...

I don't care for flying coasters. I've ridden a few; each of them once. (My friend Mark dubbed the one at Six Flags Great America Superman Ulitmate Proctology Exam.)

To each their own. I don't like water rides that get you wet. I like water rides that get you damp. I've never ridden Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls specifically because I'll apparently come off the ride soaked

Under Kinzel, that would have been a good chance. The company is under new management now; I'm willing to venture that under that new management a dark ride's effects would be maintained

What makes you say that? The current management could have kept up Maverick's effects. Not to mention the queue line pond keeps getting filthier. I can think of Rougarou as well. Effects for the first week then nothing. Nothing tells me current management would do a good job at keeping the effects in good condition. I'm not bashing current management. I'm just saying that special effects and theming are not their strong suit.

Look, I'm not against any of these things or wishes. I just see different parks in different ways. If I want family rides I go to Kings Island or Holiday World. If I want to ride coasters I go to Cedar Point. I like that specialization. I believe parks should do what they do best. I understand the importance of a well rounded park. I just want Cedar Point to be the place I can go to experience as many types of coasters as possible. It's the closest thing to heaven on earth in my opinion. Or an RMC Mean Streak and a fantastic woodie away from it at least.

I do wonder how well special effects would be kept up if a dark ride of some sort ever makes it to CP. I don't know how Voyage To Iron Reef has held up but it is only a year old. Rougarou has only had mist running once or twice out of the few times I went sence it's opening, but CF does overall take good care of their parks

How much big is that island anyway? If dinosaurs alive was taken out, would cedar point be able to put a gci AND a log flume on the island?

I personally could see it work, if they wrap it around mf and the new log flume and make it go off of the island for a few elements.

I think the area left behind from StR is big enough for a moderate sized GCI (or any coaster) and a new log flume. Even without Dinos leaving.

CoasterCam, I wasn't being condescending. I was being snarky. And what, you just met me?

But so goes most of the opinions around here. There's a lot of me, me, me, and not much consideration for what other patrons might enjoy. But true, to each his own.

And for a glimpse of how dark/flume rides are maintained in Cedar Fair Land, check out Knotts. Their ride is awesome, and if I had a wish list for Cedar Point something like that would be near the top. It would be a great fit for the Trail, and would be something everyone, from thrill seekers, dark ride lovers, and families would enjoy and appreciate.
I don't know if they still do it, but Knotts used to use the flume as a ride-through haunt with the Screamsters showing up at the sides of the flume to scare you. That would be so perfect for Halloweekends.

I definitely consider what others might enjoy. I simply stated how I feel about the subject that is being discussed. Sorry if it came off as rude. Not my intention. What do you mean I just met you?
