2014 - Changes to Platinum Pass Benefits

The Dragon's Inn is the food stand next to Iron Dragon along the waterway.

I like the 10% discount much more than the individual deals they had last year. Unless you really wanted to pig out on the one or two items that were included in the deal, it seemed like overkill. Being at CP alot, getting 10% off every food item purchased will add up to a nice discount over the course of the entire season.

Does anyone know or has anyone asked if this plan carries with you to other Cedar fair parks? If they load it onto your platinum pass and you visit another park with a similar plan would it work?

No coaster will ever be too fast or too tall!

I think the meal deal plans will be a huge hit at Kings Island. They still have only 1 full service, sit down restaurant, so the meal deals are getting you the same food you would likely end up eating anyway.

At Cedar Point, I tend to lean towards eating at the restaurants more than at the walk up places. With so many restaurant options, I would expect them to sell less plans.

It's really a nice benefit for passholders that visit a lot. It's perfect for a teenager who will visit the park a dozen times over the summer.

The 10% makes so much more sense. I used it at Kings Island and loved it. Over the course of a half-day we saved four or five bucks for a family of four (with grandpa in tow). The refillable mugs were also $10 for passholders, which was a great deal only because of the insane $4 for a 20 oz. soda.

Being said teenager, I do plan on purchasing the plan. Although I'd generally only eat one meal in the park per visit in the past, this will be nice to be able to get two per visit. This with the addition of the refillable drink cup and I'm set for the season.

Get fat son!

With meals consisting of 2 Cheese-on-a-stick's and fries, that's very possible. ;)

If Famous Dave's was included at CP I would jump on it... But the other stuff does not appeal to me.It is rare that I eat at the park anyway.

We used to grab a donut and coffee at donut time, but that will be gone now... Sooooooo... there goes that.

Saw on another site that the Platinum Pass Season Meal plan is $84. The $72 must be if you go as a group. Wonder how many you need for the $72.

Four.

Thank you.

You realize they're replacing it with Starbucks, right?

Brandon

Yes... Of course.

However, I liked the idea that they were producing fresh made donuts (at least opening year) and it was not a chain or anything like that, it was something CP had come up with. It was a cool little place. I am not that fond of starbucks, so it does not excite me... Coffee is the same regardless (DT served starbucks) but I am just talking about the offerings they had. Now it is just more chain stuff loading up the park.

I just like the extra effort in them doing it themselves. Now its just another starbucks... But it will for sure sell more due to the name, so I know why they are doing it.

It is just one reason I don't eat at the park... Put me at Universal and I will grab a few butterbeers and other specialty drinks and food they make... Same at Disney... Or even Knotts (pie and chicken). Hell, even Six Flags Magic Mountain had a cool little taco place that was really good (non-chain)... And we all know Sea World and Busch Gardens has great options.

Unless I want fries, fried cheese or a funnel cake... I am stuck to a chain at CP basically. It would just be cool if they did some more stuff on their own. They have tried in the past few years, but they only last a few short years (chippery, donut time).

I was just at Busch gardens Williamsburg.

Food is mediocre at best, ate at the Festhaus. Will never make that Mistake again.
Glorified cafeteria food at $17 a plate, and the deserts they are "famous" for were barely Dairy Queen quality.

And BTW, bottled water is $3 there too.

Sorry you didn't care for the food, but they've got some solid culinary folks working there,

I called CP about the Bring-a-Friend benefit. On the two special weekends (May 16-18 is one of them) you can get up to 4 people in for $19.9x each and they do get to get into the park an hour earlier than the public opening time.

Good thing too, I would have made my friends wait in the car while I got some riding in!

^Thanks for sharing that. I've been wondering the same thing. Now my daughter can bring her friends in early.

Maybe I have the hole quantity screwed up. But I distinctly recall not being able to choose to play the second course.

Wasn't one side of the course closed all of last season? I never did stop to play a round, but I distinctly remember hearing/reading somewhere that one side had more or less been completely shut down.

Count me in as preferring the old deals, or more specifically, the fry deal. The 10% is certainly nice, and I'll definitely make use of it, but the old fry deal was a better value from my perspective.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

When we played mini-golf last year the east course was closed. When I asked about it I was told it was because it wasn't ADA compatible/approved. Not sure if that was true, but if so, why close it for everyone just because some can't use it?

Sad state of our country.
