2008 Watch

I think they need more mechanics around. Especially when rides are having bad days like last Sunday. That way when rides go down, they can have someone come right away instead of having someone come from clear across the other side of the park which who knows how long that might take.

I hated DT the past few years but when I went on it a few weeks ago I thought it was a great ride. I really don't see why people hate it. It is inside-air conditioned-great for when you spend 3 days at CP and it's 95degrees outside. I would much rather see that piece of sh*t, waste of space Mean Streak get taken down before DT. If it has to go they could update the ride or even build a newer coaster inside that building. I like that parks have an indoor coaster. Flight of Fear is one of my favorite roller coasters and always thought it would be cool if CP got a fast, launched indoor coaster like Flight of Fear (but maybe an updated version of it :))

And to reply to the guy hoping for a new coaster for his HS graduation year 2010. Don't worry, (I think) you get Cedar Point's 13th Halloweekend Spectacular-I'm sure that one will be very special.

"Water will be involved." MrScott 2006

^^ Hey, if more mechanics closer to the rides where they're needed would help to decrease downtime, that just might be something CP would look into. We all know that they like to minimize the time any ride is down.

As a side note about the mechanics, my brother and I were slightly distracted on Dragster's launch July 10th as there was a mechanic working on the train on the transfer track. He felt that particularly odd. Then we launched.

^ Well, then I guess I better go on Friday the 13th to make it even better. But yeah, I'd like a coaster to run for its first year. That'd be sweet.

Edit: Oh, and I believe that the majority of complaints have to do with the unpleasant appearance of the theming within DT's queue as well as the ugly, boxy exterior that was designed to cover up the ride.

I think CP should focus on Soak City for 2008. It used to be a superior waterpark, but not anymore. There are tons of new water attrations that have been developed over the last 5 years or so that Soak City does not have. After all, if you are going to charge to get in, you better keep it up-to-date.

For the Aquatic Stadium lot, I agree wtih an earlier post...I'd like to see a Sierra Sidewinder, only twice as big...might work well in the Peanuts Playground section instead. Might just be me, but I think the Huss Topple Tower looks like a lot of fun.

I suspect CF is laying off improvements at Soak City for another year or two, while they try to nurse Geauga Lake back to health. Since they're apparently refocusing that park into more of a waterpark, they might not want to cannibalize much of the overlapping market, when WWK is only an hour down the road.

Another suspicion I have is that we'll see reductions in investment in major attractions at CP (and probably most of the other parks in the chain) for a while. My reasoning: for starters, the coaster wars are over, for the time being. Six Flags is focusing on family rides and better atmosphere, Paramount is gone, Disney barely builds thrill rides, and most of the other smaller chains and independents (excepting BGE vs KD) don't really compete that much with CF parks. Secondly, park attendance seems to be contracting in general, and adding new attractions don't really seem to add the same spike in numbers they once did. Thirdly, I suspect CF was hoping to refinance their Paramount loan by now, with easier terms. In the crunched credit atmosphere of today's finance world, that just ain't gonna happen any time soon.

What I see happening is more focus on existing attractions, improving park atmosphere (sound familiar?), more family rides. Yes, parks will still get their B&Ms and Intamins. But they'll be widely spaced out, with smaller investments in between.

Whoever said CP should fix up Kiddy Kingdom, I agree completely. I think that ought to be their first order of business. After spending an awful lot of time at Nickelodeon Universe this summer with my five year old, I can now see what a kid's area could truly be.

My author website: mgrantroberts.com.

I agree with you on Kiddy Kingdom. A few small, kid-friendly rides does not a good kiddy area make.

Honestly, if they were to spend a year or two working on general improvements throughout the park, that would be much appreciated by me. I'd like the food prices to come down to a reasonable level. $3.00 for a single 20oz. Pepsi product is really rather ridiculous. I know that it is a tradition amongst entertainment venues to have excessively high prices, but CP could possibly prove that it pays to charge a more reasonable price.

I can't speak of Soak City's standing, seeing as I have not yet been there even once.

Anyway, back to what we know of what's going on... To summarize, we definitely know that Demon Drop is likely going to be removed within the next couple years, possibly whether they manage to find a buyer or not. That will give them a little bit of room to play with, but not really that much. Aquatic Stadium is seemingly going unused for the 2007 season, leading to suspicions that they will be demolishing that within the next couple offseasons, possibly after this season. Adding to that, someone mentioned that they constantly saw higher-ups surveying the site of the building. With a bit of relocating, it has been determined that they could possibly fit a coaster or some other type of ride in that area. Is that about all we know for certain as of yet?

So my thought is, if they do remove both the aquatic stadium and Demon drop, and relocate the Pirate ride next to the stadium, wouldn't that make enough room for 2 new rides? A flat ride, plus a Roller Coaster?

I think if there moving the pirate ride they should move it to froniter town and then they would have enough for a flat ride and a roller coaster.

Just to clarify, are you talking about the no-longer-running pirate ride located next to Raptor? Or did you mean to say Ocean Motion which is the swining ship next to the stadium?

I meant the Ocean Motion, my mistake.

There are quite a few things I've spotted around the park. I've seen flags in the ground, a tarp covering something under the pretzel helix on Magnum (probably the wrecked train), and paint marks on the ground. There are a lot of things that could be hiding track, or marking construction. When I last went to CP, the aquatic stadium was roped off, and I saw flags all around sandcastle suites, they might be expanding the hotel or something.

Didn't they just do some work on Sandcastle?

I've been on Drop Zone countless times, and I've been on Power Tower at least 15 times, and I think Power Tower is immensely better. Drop Zone has horrible capacity issues. The wait is usually about 45 minutes for it. But that could also be because it is one of the premier rides at KI, whereas at CP it wouldn't be. I like the two-rides-in-one idea for Power Tower too.

Ok, I have read some things that give reasons why CP cant build rides over the Lake. (Erie) Go to the preveious page to see my old ideas and why CP cannot build rides over the Lake. But I have gotten some ideas from reading some of the other peeps' Replys. Like......... Somebody said that flags were up around the Heix on Magnium, and some construction flags, and paint. I say connect a path by the edge of Gemini (closets to TTD) to the middle of the Helix. And put either a minneature coaster (like Sierra Sidewinder) or, a few small rides. I would say an Achrophobia, Drop Zone type ride. BUT.. that girl who got her foot chopped off by a cable, which caused those rides to close.

I like the idea of an out and back sleely through the parking lot, maybe a flyer? I don't know.

I'd like to see somebody even try to take TTD down, like not now (NOO WAY) bu prob like the only wa to take it down is to us some dinomite!!!!! hahah, i feel bad for Witches Wheel.
