^You dont know if its a rumor or not? They havent announced it yet and someody just put it up from nowhere. I think that is a rumor.

Let's Get Weird.

It's Screamscape. Need I say anymore?

For those that are fairly new to the online community, you should know that you never take predictions and such about new rides from Screamscape seriously, unless there is obvious, backed up evidence for it (something similar to the Maverick fiasco).

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Screamscape is actually right about a lot of stuff. There are some bogus rumors there but I think they are outweighed by legit ones. It would be cool if that area got a makeover with BLMR from GL as the centerpiece.

I actually think the opposite that they will instead tear peanuts playground down. If this rumor is at all true they will be putting said kiddie coaster somewhere else.

I could see it happening. Peanuts Playground is much overdue for a face lift.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I don't know why so many of you say Screamscape is a bad source, when it predicts correctly many times, and generally has correct information a few weeks before actual announcements. I've read things very early such as:

1. Millenium Force = predicted a 300 ft coaster for CP on the Frontier Trail months before the announcement, only they said it would have loops.
2. White Water Landing would be torn down.
3. First to know details on Maverick. It said early that the coaster would not be that tall, going more for speed and length.
4. Predicted a Giant Frisbee for CP in 2005.
5. Knew months ago that Dominator and Thunderhawk were to be moved from GL. Predicted plight of XfLight and Steel Venom as well.
6. Predicted ride side would close at GL when most people said that would never happen.
7. Predicted a B&M drop coaster for BG Williamsburg months before the announcement.
8. Broke the news that Canada's Wonderland was going to build a huge B&M coaster for 2008.
9. I could go on and on.

Not to mention, but Screamscape has every update known to man at world parks, pictures, details, links, etc. It's a fantastic site...I go to it everyday.

If I guessed as many different things as they did, I would get things right every now and then as well. I'll just pick out obvious predictions that I had heard called, and were easily identifiable long before Screamscape called it.

3. Someone leaked details, its that plain and simple. Plus, how believable is the 500 ft. rumor, really?
4. I gotta say that this was actually one of those crazy things that actually worked, but I will say that I predicted the same thing back in October of '04 based upon genuine thought and merit, instead of blowing rumors and smoke.
5 & 6. C'mon, was it really that hard to see that outcome?
7. Who doesn't put an exclusivity term in a contract for a coaster without thinking about a similar ride at another park that they own? As soon as talk about the contract came out, some of us on other boards were discussing the possibilities of BGW getting one.

You've got to admit, a large part of the rumors there are just smoke. I could submit some wild, outlandish rumor about 2008 plans for CP right now and it would get posted. Like I said, when you guess as many different things as ScreamScape, you're bound to get some right.

Its the same way Nostradamus had so many correct predictions. He had literally hundreds of BS false ones that have somehow just been swept under the carpet.

If you take enough shots at a flock of geese, you're bound to hit at least one.

It's actually a no-lose situation for a web site. Throw a rumor up on the site. If it's right, it's "see, we told you so." If it's wrong, it's "it was only a rumor."

As far as Cedar Point is concerned, you'll here about actual news here first. And 99% of rumors are things we're talking about here anyway. They're hardly exclusive thoughts. Maybe we should start a page where we list everything that gets discussed in the forums.

Addressing net's specific examples (at least related to Cedar Point):

1. Details were mentioned here as well.
2. Widely anticipated here.
3. Let's be clear: first to report details. Everyone knows what happened, and it's hardly something to be proud of.
4. Again, that was discussed here.

If you're going to talk about the hits, you need to mention the misses:

"We've heard one rumor that the park may look at installing one of the new Huss inverted Top Spins"

"I've heard a few more whispers about what may be going on with the White Water Landing flume site ... They claim that the site will be used for the park's next big coaster, which is pretty much locked in as being from B&M."

"We've heard another confirmation about the removal of the Antique Cars for this project"

"The early rumors (for 2004) are pointing towards a possible Kiddy Kingdom revamp that could include another small kiddie coaster of some kind."

... and so on.

The Peanuts Playground revamp rumor has been around for years. If and when it's ever redone, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. In fact, it's become a running joke during off-season visits. Each year, we drive by Peanuts Playground, and each year it's always, "well, I guess it's still here."

Did screamscape say anything about what will happen to Maxair??

djDaemon's avatar

Only the obvious - because of the damaged component(s), Maxair will not reopen until 2008.

Brandon

I just hope that CP DOES have a new attraction for the 2008 season, and that the blog post on "we'll let the kittens out of the bag soon" isnt a lie! And i hope the rnt just going to say something like NEW FOR 2008: Petting Farm Revamp (STUPID, and i really coulnt think of anything else.

+ Next year will be the firsr year that i get a season pass, so i will seriosuly be mad if there isnt something new.

LETS TALK ABOUT 2009-2010 now:
I hope for 2009, maybe a removal of something large (aquatic stadium), and an addition of a umm, IDK what its called. (its like Superman Ultimate Escape in Cali, the 400 ft. tower, but the cars only go up to like 350ft.) That would be cool, to start over the path by Trokia, and go all the way to the shore line. AWESOME!!!!!

2010:
If there isnt a roller coaster in 09, than first of all. I bet Six Flags Magic Moutain would have beaten them in amount of coasters by then, cuz there @ like 16, and CP is @ 17. So, all i can say is....

CP IS IN DESPERATE NEED OF A FLOORLESS B&M!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually Magic Mountain got rid of like three coasters, so they are at 14. CP is ahead by far.

Screamscape version of rumor: That park over in North America west of the Atlantic, but east of the Pacific, is building a new attraction/ride over the next year or four. It is said to either involve land or water and could possibly go anywhere from 50-500 feet in the air.

Seriously mad about what? You didn't see the brand new $21 million coaster that opened? As if there's absolutely nothing good there already, so they must build something new! [end sarcasim]

LETS TALK ABOUT 2009-2010 now...

Let's not, and wait until the end of 2008.
