2008 Watch

Last time i was there (august) i heard that next season will be a big suprise n in 2009 they think the crowd will be bigger than 2003. This was 2 bussiness men walking around and by bussiness men i mean dress shirt, tie and a CP babge clip. They were talking kinda quietly but i heard it all except what there getting.

So their conversation went something like this:

B-MAN 1: "So Bob...have you heard about the, uh, big surprise coming in 2009?"

B-MAN 2: "Oh yeah...I got a memo about that this morning...quite a surprise!"

B-MAN 1: "Sure is Bob! Boy, I betcha your badge clip that the crowd will be bigger than in 2003"

B-MAN 2: "I dont know if that is a smart bet. After all, it's this official badge clip that identifies me as a business man. Without it I might just look any random guy dressed in a tie at Cedar Point."

B-MAN 1: "Well, either way, the world sure is in for a big shock in 2009"

B-MAN 2: "And how!"

B-MAN 1: "Good thing we're talking quietly or we'd let the "kitten out of the bag".

Other than knowing for a fact they don't talk about stuff like that walking down the midways in hearing of guests...sounds like its real to me.

When I figured out that CP was going to be making some sort of computer related addition to Donut Time, the guys that were in there taking pictures only said where to point the camera. Other than that, not a word was said entering, leaving, and as soon as they were out the door, it was desk and office talk. The day I hear anyone who would actually know something about future plans (and that isn't even everyone who has the full time badge) talking about it on the midway around guests and possible enthusiasts (and they're being serious) is the day I finally have full media access at the park.

Now in 2009 there will be more people in the Park with a Great Coaster with a 500 ft Hill. I know there were many in 2003 with a 420ft with the Dragster. If that 500ft Coaster comes in 2009 where will it be made at in the Park.

I'd like to see them build something fun that doesn't break records for height, speed, and what else am I missing? Lets build our next wooden coaster in 2009 instead. :)

I have one good source I get my info from. This person isn't high on the CP food chain but he/she has been there many many years. This was the person who told me about nick toons coming. I still have one last trip this season and I will look that person up. Last time I was there { late August } that person only knew about Demon drop being sold and the nick thing but thats it. I don't know if its coming down or not. I will see if that person has anymore news.

Ever notice that since around 99 it has become harder and harder to get this information? I used to be able to get info sometimes 2 years in advance {early to mid 90's} now it is like pulling teeth.

Strange that they'd be getting Nick characters, when they're already auditioning for Peanuts characters.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people at this time of year sign up on PointBuzz and somehow know all of CP's future plans.

Wish I had that kind of inside information, think of how cool that would make me look...of course, all those years of english and grammar courses would have to be thrown out the window before I could post anything...

Back to the topic at hand - the funny part is that those who post the stuff also wish they had inside information **cough**screamscape**cough**.

^^^Even with a misspelled screen name, its still better than those who write like they have never been in an English or Grammar class in their life.

If you can't write intelligently, there is no way that people will believe that you are.

Wow, you said it. There was NOTHING wrong with the Pirate Ride, Earthquake ride, and the old Haunted House, the upside down one. Those ride were pretty much what remained of the "old" Cedar Point. I would think that the second oldest park in the USA would embrace what past it has left. Those rides were fun in a simple way, and a family way. What keeps familys coming back? HUMMM?

Ok I mispell my screen name on purpose otherwise it wouldn't be negligent of me. I never claimed to be a know it all but I have gone to CP many years. And know its not really inside information I am just getting it from a person who has worked there for many years. Lives in Sandusky and knows alot of stuff. I am just an enthusist and I dont post on screamscape I have read this sites threads for a couple years but never posted untill recently. Besides some people in here must know more as they say they know Dick Kinsel. I have seen him over the years but never spoke to him { what would you say to him? }. Any way I don't know the state of peanuts but I have a pretty good idea that nick toons are on their way as well. Beyond that I know for certain that demon drop was sold { Which by the way was backed up on this very thread after I already posted } so it would seem that at worst case I am at 50/50 which isnt bad compared to screamscape

Who's this Dick Kinsel you speak off ;) is he going to take over for Kinzle in a few years.

Ok got me on that one. Anyway heading back up on the 26th I'll take a poke around and see if anything is going up anywhere. I'll take a camera and snap plenty of pics if I see anything. Kinzel I know of the person and what he looks like but go figure I would spell it wrong.

I right now think maybe Cedar Point will rebrand the kiddie section(s) with the Nick brand or possibly combine them with the Peanuts. I really wish Cedar Point and the other Cedar Fair parks (other than the old Paramount Parks) start using this.

I think Sponge Bob could of saved Geauga Lake...
