2008 Watch

In reality when can we expect to hear whats up for next year?

When does the company usually actually tell us everything?

December? January?

If it's big usually arund September, if it's something kind of small like MaXair and Skyhawk, usually around December.

If it was an kiddie attraction(s) for 2008 will they still have a red cross first rider thing again? lol

Well the first one was for Raptor. And I don't recall them doing one for Woodstock Express in 1999. Anyone else recall?

Top Thrill Dragster must not have been much of anything... I mean, they didn't announce it until January... ;)

They announce most of there things in January since maXair. After onPoint! started they started they announce Skyhawk and Maverick early. We the fans need to know. lol

There is no set time frame to when they announce things. It's different nearly every time.

I know but what I was tring to say since OnPoint! started they have announce attractions right around closing of the park.

Millennium Force: July 17, 1999 (I think it was then)
Wicked Twister: November 20, 2001
Top Thrill Dragster: Originally supposed to be August 28, 2002 (exactly one week after track started showing up), but after gaining tons of free publicity they pushed it back to January 9, 2003.
maXair: December 1, 2004
Skyhawk: October 31, 2005
Maverick: September 7, 2006

2005/2006: Cedar Point - Millennium Force
2007/2008/2009: Walt Disney World - Magic Kingdom - Tomorrowland Speedway
2008: Hard Rock Park - Maximum RPM! Opening Supervisor
2008/2009: Universal Orlando - Men in Black: Alien Attack Team Leader, Guest Services Coordinator

So basically there isn't a pattern.

101 on Magnum and counting...

Well, there's a lot more markings within Peanuts' Playground as well. Here's a look from Saturday of what I found:

I also looked around the Aquatic Stadium just to see if there was anything to support any of those rumors, and found nothing.

Exactly. It's whatever they feel is most beneficial. However, as far as Millennium Force's announcement, I don't think that we'll ever see one that far in advance again.

With the potential work being done to Peanuts Playground, do you guys think they'll keep Peanuts Express? Assuming they do, it would most likely remain a fenced in area with a single point of access.

Has there been anything around the CHAOS because I've heard rumors they are moving that ride somewhere?

Finally some of you are getting it. ;)

Also, remember that they will have miss-dig come out if they are going to replace cement, or if they need to update the sewer/drainage.

There's probably a couple dozen reasons they'd need to call miss-dig, and only one of them is "new ride construction". I wouldn't be surprised to see upgrades to the Peanuts Playground/Kiddy Kingdom areas though. I'd put it on the short list of possible upgrades for this next season.

FWIW...

I was at the Point yesterday. While waiting in line for DT, I noticed a pile of ride parts to the right. My friend asked me, "What's that?" and I laughed; she's gotten so much more observant throughout the season. I told her they were parts from kids' rides from GL.

All we had with us were our camera phones; mine was being a punk but she took a picture with hers. The area is to the right as you walk in the alt enterance; when the line extends out of the building it runs between two chain link fences that have brown plastic running between the diamonds. Some of the plastic strips are missing and you can see through them, and if you look right (facing the building,) you can see the stack of parts. At first I thought it was one ride, but the more I looked at it the more I think it's a couple.

My picture is here: http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/2219/glstuffatcpqj5.jpg

There's a picture from when those items were deconstructed on Jason Hammond's website (rollercoasterfreak.com) Most recent deconstruction, seventh picture from the bottom. (Didn't want to hotlink it without Jason's permission.)

My guess would be this is the "kittens."

I looked back a couple of pages in the thread, and I think I've read most of it, and hadn't seen this posted -- so I'm sorry if it has been.

Carrie

ETA: Looking at that picture via that link, it looks really blurry. I'm sorry. I swear they're ride parts, LOL. The picture on Jason's site is really clear, and it's the same stuff.

You know, if you squint, then have 5 shots of Jameson followed by a Guinness, you can almost see ride parts. ;)

This one?

I have no problem with people linking things from my site. The only thing that would bother me is people publishing my pics without permission. :)

I think everyone can agree that CP is due for a bit of a redo on its kid attractions. Check out the rest of the industry, and dare I say it, check out what Six Flags has been doing. *** Edited 10/22/2007 10:01:53 PM UTC by Gomez***

Ha, ha, Jugga. *I* can tell they're there, that's all that counts, right? ;)

Yep Jason, that one. I'll remember that linking's ok for future. Some people are ridiculously picky and being the newbie, I didn't want to incur any wrath (not that you seem to be the wrath-inflicting type.) I didn't see all of the parts in that picture -- although could only see a small area -- but the red 'funnel' looking pieces and some various 'hay' looking baskets. (Which, by the by, after Jason's picture -- I take back what I said about thinking it's a couple of rides.) Let me play with paint and see if I can point it out...

Carrie
