You realize the park is on a peninsula, right?

If someone from out of the Sandusky area is coming to CP they're not looking for a "cool" digital sign to attract them to the park, and how would they see it anyhow if it's in front of the park?

Kevinj, the globe fountain is a classic! It can't be replaced. Keep it there, but add some new fountains through out the park. Don't just throw them in there without thought, but place them nicely along the Main Midway.

As for the Blue Streak midway, I like net's idea the best. In 2005 they spruced up the Wicked Twister midway and did a great job. In 2006 they started with Frontier Town and made it look awesome. In 2007 they completed the job with the addition of Maverick. The Blue Streak midway is the only area (aside from the aquatic stadium area) that really needs attention. And I don't want to hear that you can't tear down the Pirate Ride building because it's used for storage. Props for Halloweekends can be stored elsewhere.

As for the entrance plaza, I've heard people say that they liked Geauga Lake's. Maybe we'll get that from there. ;)

ha ha ha!! That would be hysterical if the entrance plaza from GL was "moved" to Cedar Point. I wouldn't like it, but it would definitely be amusing.

Yes, I agree about the globe fountain. It is classic and should stay. Maybe build a new pool around it?

I'd love to see some laminar fountains somewhere. Maybe in the new entrance plaza?

Actually Vince, there are very few Halloweekends things stored in the Pirate Ride other than a few small things that fit in the small closet space that Park Ops has. Basically the entire building is Park Services' warehouse. I don't know where they kept all of that stuff before, but there is a heck of a lot back there, and I don't know how much room there is in the old Grand Pavilion and convention center (now the Foods and catering warehouse). Even though it doesn't blend very well with its surroundings, it still serves an important purpose, so instead of just tearing it down, how about giving it a face lift? Although, I personally like looking at it and being reminded of what it once was.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

I agree with foregoing a new ride to make some real improvements in the park aesthetically. One suggestion I have is to improve the out of date bathrooms. Remodel the older nasty bathrooms, especially the one near Maggie. That one is nasty even when clean. Put in automatic faucets, dryers, etc. I don't know how many times I have tried to shut off a running faucet that would not shut off. What a waste of resources! There is nothing more of a bigger turn off than a nasty bathroom IMHO. I would put more of an emphasis on keeping these areas spotless and that also goes for the newer ones. There are lots of other improvements that I would love to go into, but I gotta get to bed, the work thing tomorrow...

^^Fair enough Mike, but keeping an ugly building around for the sake of storage is weak. And give it a facelift? For what? If it were transformed into a food outlet, then fine, give it a facelift but even then a food outlet isn't needed in that location. I'm not saying then need to do it next year, but I'm sure they have something up their sleeves.

The problem is finding a place to store all of that stuff since they've been using the current warehouse setups in the park for almost a decade now. There really isn't an existing building in the park or on the Peninsula with enough extra space to act as the Park Services warehouse now.

I would be happy if they just kept up on the theming that they already started on various rides that they've let deteriorate.

^^Time to move some things off-Point that don't need to be on-Point.

I've always thought (well, since I started following these things) that all Cedar Fair offices and personnel that don't need to be in the park (basically everything except Kinzel and maybe Falfas) should be moved to a nice, modern looking office building near Breakers Express. Possibly even have enough space to accommodate the marketing and financial offices for Cedar Point as well as other things that don't need to be located directly inside the park.

Is it too much to ask for some trees?

Holy crap, you can't be serious?

Just a couple of weekends ago we were snapping photos all over the park, and in every single photo, there is a tree.

Cedar Point has so many trees, I really don't see the complaints. Sure, they may be all in the back 2/3 of the park, but they sure are there.

Speaking of signs...

It would be great to see CP implement a better system to inform guests with live ride wait times, closures and show times.

These digital systems are already in place at Universal and Disney Parks. They work great and I think CP is starving for a similar system.

The existing signs around the park get messed with constantly and can be inaccurate due to employee laziness. Plus gate attendants get tired of guests constant badgering;

"Is it really an hour?"

To which you get a glaring look from an employee like, "Um…Yes, stupid look at the sign."

It's just a loose, loose situation for both parties.

If these boards are placed in the front, middle, and back portions of the park, useless walks from front to back will cease to exist. Twice this year I experienced a "holy crap, I'm not waiting 40 minutes for disaster transport." (It sucks even more when you walk a half-mile in the rain to get there.)

I'm by no means lazy. I just like having a plan to get maximum ride time! I view this as a must have addition to the park for 2008.

Also - reck the ugly That 70’s Circle Fountain. Hey, that’s a perfect place to put a digital wait-time board, or one of those play fountains for the kids.

Strange idea here. Japan built an entire airport on an artificial island. There is a large group of artificial islands both finished and under construction in Dubai and they even have a large city going up on one. I know it would be a massive investment but what if they enlarged the pennisula near MF? Even alittle land can go a long way.

Completely agree. I dont want to see that one go, I would just like to see more; and I just used fountains as an example. I love little touches like that in a park, just to "set the mood".

And about the Pirate Ride building, yea I understand we all enjoy "remembering" what once was, but what about the people who have never been there before? They fly in to see Cedar Point, get there, and see this odd looking building that looks like it was some kind of attraction years ago, but maybe not...er....tacky!

It's the same issue with DT's queue. If you have been around long enough to witness the slow decay of DT, you understand what's in there and why. If you have never been to CP, it makes the ride look like it belongs in an acid trip, and not an amusement park.

Um…Yes, stupid look at the sign.

So, you say the signs are normally wrong and then get upset when people ask if the sign is right? That doesn't make much sense.

Two small things. Fix that restroom by Magnum, it's a biohazard. I swear those toilets constantly leak water. It's wet in there even at the beginning of the day and that's not because they just mopped. I'm surprised nobody has fallen on that wet floor and sued CP.

Speaking of the Pirate Ride Building, they need to move the sign pointing to the Blue Streak entrance to a point near it's exit. If you are waiting for someone at the exit you'd be amazed at how many people think the exit is the entrance. It looks like an entrance, they would never guess it's behind the building. Watch the people come up with a bewildered look trying to find the way in. The present location of the sign is not where people would normally be looking. If you walk straight from the path yes it's in front of you, but most people head to the exit. It's a small thing, but easily fixed.

Also, I think there is plenty of room for a flat by Blue Streak even without tearing down the Pirate Ride Building.

The Blue Streak exit looks like an entrance because it used to be the entrance.

I'd love to see new employee housing. Living there was the worst part of my employee experience. Better living conditions for employees would most likely enhance the park atmosphere, just because the people working there are happier.

I also agree that the front of the park's architecture and style is out dated and could use an upgrade.

The DT building needs a complete overhaul. I have been all over that building and really with minimal efforts it could be resurrected and turned into a really cool ride for all ages. Just clean it up and put in some new, creative ideas into the theming.

Just my thoughts. I'm sure the plan and design crew at CP is a very intelligent group of people and know what the park needs.

So you tear down the Pirate Ride building and move all the stuff in it into Mean Streak's queue where no one will ever see it.
