Nothing major ever happens the year after they debut a coaster. Asking for a flat would be a stretch in my opinion. They still have another year to sell Maverick to us and likely will. I would be plenty happy if they spent their "offseason money" this year on paint jobs and filling in where the theming has taken a downfall.
At the risk of inviting the obvious punch lines ...
Is Wicked Twister not a coaster?
Is Top Thrill Dragster nothing major?
Well, lets see.
1996 - Mantis (Coaster)
1997 - Soak City Expansion (Major Water)
1998 - Power Tower (Major Flat Ride)
1999 - Woodstock Express (Major Kiddie Coaster)
2000 - Millennium Force (Major Coaster)
2001 - Lighthouse Point (Major Resort)
2002 - Wicked Twister (Coaster)
2003 - Top Thrill Dragster (Major Coaster)
2004 - Donut Time, Famous Daves, Game Day Grille (Major Food)
2005 - maXair (Major Flat Ride)
2006 - SkyHawk (Major Flat Ride)
2007 - Maverick (Coaster)
2008 - ???
As an aside, Walt, I think its time to add to the history page. Get some of the dates in there for 2004 and beyond. I can try and put together a list.

It's time to do a lot of things. :)
I'll get a list together of stuff I can think of and put it into a new thread, hopefully we can get others to add to it.

Do you work for the marketing department, John? Everything is major. LOL! While I agree they put in major attractions back to back years, I don't think I'd consider 2004 the year of "major food". None of those were new buildings - they were just renovations. Although they are nice attractions, that was sorta a slow year for expansion.
EDIT: You could still consider TTD "new" for the 2004 season though because most people didn't get a chance to ride it in 2003. :) *** Edited 8/28/2007 1:35:02 PM UTC by halltd***
Will Cedar Point offer a 18th coaster in 2008? From Screamscape:
2008 - New Attraction - Rumor - (8/28/07) A resourceful reader came upon a rather interesting idea today, wondering if perhaps one of the Déjà Vu coasters to be removed from Six Flags parks this year may go to Cedar Point instead. I’m thinking “no” myself… given the trouble they’ve caused for Six Flags since buying them Cedar Fair would be foolish to try to whip them into shape. However if Cedar Fair were to have a plan to install all new fixes and upgrades to ensure that it works correctly this time, anything could happen. The really interesting thing was that they were quick to point out the wording in the when seeing the construction site that it was something that they remember, “seeing one time before”, which is kind of the definition of Déjà Vu. Are they on to something… or just on something? My gut still says “No Deal”, but you just never know and to be honest right now, I don’t have a clue what they are up to and the local area Spy Network is unusually quiet.
In my opinion, it would be a nice addition to Cedar Point's collection of rides. Also, the footprint looks small enough to fit in this area.
Eww I hate Deja Vu. Not because it's a bad ride, but because there's a 6'4" maximum height limit and I'm 6'6" :(
384 MF laps

Um, so now were taking Screamscapes second-hand wish list as rumor and projecting fact onto it?

I agree. I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing out loud at work.
To think that Cedar Fair would buy a second hand, maintenance nightmare from Six Flags...that's just hilarious!
Would be fun to be outside Kinzel's office as he's reading that one. ;)
Wrong "track" everyone. They are obviously planning an addition to Planning and Design! That's because the coaster going over and under Lake Erie is SO big, they couldn't fit all the planning in the present building.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Let's put it this way, IF Cedar Point is putting a new ride in, many of you will either:
A.)Be dissapointed it's not big or fast enough.
B.)Not something the whole family can enjoy.
C.)Not good at all.
So while everyone sits and says it's gonna be this or they need this. Whatever they put in they have researched to be the best fit. Like Maverick, a lot of people bashed it for not being the 500ft monster they hoped for, when Maverick ended up being something that's one of a kind, and a great all around ride and great addition to the park. BUT since everyone is putting their 2 cents in on what they want...Cedar Point could use some more scenery/theming. Granted they can't make thier park like Disney or Universal in themeing, but it could use some more, even do something along the lines or seasonal themeing. Around the 4th have a lot of patriotic symbols, and the begining of the season make it look like a grand opening retro look. Either way, whatever Cedar Point does they will do for the best in the park's interest and the guests, not just what we hope and wish for and hope that when they read these threads they make the wishes come true.
Deja vu at Cedar Point.........excuse me while I go shoot the person who thought of that.

I think they are going to put a pathway in from Gemini bathrooms to Mean Streak and taking out the railway crosswalk by the Cedar Creek Mine Ride which would cut out an employee and save a little money. I also think they will put a new ride in that area somewhere, But I guess we will just have to wait to see what the plan is.
