I like how everyone assumes that land clearing equals a new ride. Buildings, parking lots, and probably even underground utility work all require land clearing.Kinzel himself said in a newspaper article that there would not be a new ride in 2008. Let's stop the conspiracy theories.

I saw that construction when I rode PWE on Tuesday. Looks like utility work or something like that.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
They must be doing something in the picture cause its not just one hole. Its a couple. But i understand what you guys are saying about the construction vehicles.
Okay I can't believe that everyone missed this one. It is obvious. Cedar Point is tunneling below Magnum and putting REALLY BIG floor jacks below the cement footers to stop it from sinking.

No wonder Magnum is sinking. It has cement for footers. I would think it would have cured to concrete after all thse years. ;)

Cement can't cure because it's a powder. You mix cement with water to make concrete. Also, the proper term is footing, not footer. People use footer and it appears in some dictionaries, but it's not the correct term.
A footer is something you use in a term paper or something at the bottom of the page.
I work as a lab tech at a company whose flagship product is a waterproofing coating for building foundations. I almost never hear it called a "footing" by our customers, but almost exclusively a "footer". So I don't think kbp is too whacked out on that one.
Tim, didn't I just reply to your post on coasterbuzz as well? Man, I must be turning into a stalker or something. ;)

I studied mechanical engineering at Bradley University, and I worked on a project for Walt Disney World, and they always referred to the concrete base as a "footer" as well.

Like I said, a lot of people use footer, but that doesn't mean it's right. People that went to school to study building design and construction use footing because it's the proper term. There are tons of words in the English language that people use or pronounce incorrectly. But, that doesn't mean they're right in doing so.
Most people use "utilize" incorrectly too - mainly in business correspondence. But, if you look up the proper definition, you'd realize 90% of the time, you're using it wrong.
Yes, but language constantly changes and evolves. What was correct usage for a given term 50 years ago might not be the same today. The "authority" -- whatever self-appointed entity that determines language usage -- is always the last to adjust its ways.
Language is driven from the bottom up. The multitude of users, given enough time and solidarity, will eventually redetermine definition and usage as they see fit.
