Yeah, not so much. It seems like almost every year there is some first year in the office. Makes things difficult sometimes cause they don't know jack when it comes to certain things.
They'll learn fast, though. Because if they don't, Marcia will beat them. :)

Welcome to Mantis the only stand-up roller coaster in the state of Ohioer, this is not a sit-down roller coaster, if you want to sit down then their is the I-ron Dragon over to the left and across the midway is Milliunem Force.
Funny you mention that, cause over here it sounds like you are giving out private information about the park. Am I right? Or did I miss the press release stating the information you talked about?
Hello my name is daniel. I am a first time poster here and I am hoping to get a job at CP this summer. I have some questions for all of you:
1) Are they putting only experienced staff on maverick? I would love to be able to work there. Or are my chances as good as anyones elses?
2) Does all ride staff get trained on how to operate the ride they are at? Do they train everyone and then weed out people and have certain people operate the ride?
3) What is the terminology they use at CP? So far ive heard ride pride, green and red tag?
4) Do they give any discounts for castaway bay?Do they have any discounts for hotels for visitors?
5) Oh yeah If I sign a contract and then plan on staying longer is that fine?
6) What happens if you miss a day at work?(not that I plan on doing)
Well I would appreciate any responses! Thank you! Danthemann
Oh yeah another question:
The application says april 1st. But the CP website says May. What is all that time inbetween for? So would I start in april or may?
per danthemann:
1) I can't answer that question fully, but I think I heard 1 person mention that they were new to CP. However, your chances of getting on Maverick WILL be slim due to everyone applying for rides wanting that one.
2) It simply depends on what ride you are assigned. Some of the smaller rides only have 1 position which operates the controls and buckles the belts. Other rides, such as the go-karts in Challenge Park, have all employees trained in all areas. The major rides, such as roller coasters, do have multiple positions; however, to operate the controls you must pass a written and oral test.
3) Red Tag, Blue Tag, Double Blue, Green, Silver and possible dark green, refer to your ranking in the park. I can't quite remember but I believe green and light green are used for minors. Red is used for regular employees and ATL's. Blue is TL, Double Blue is area team leaders, and Silver is Full Time Management. (Never make one them of mad)
4) No idea, whatsoever.
5) Yes, it is usually okay with them. However, you must fill out a contract extension form located in your department office.
6) Usually, they are pretty good about giving you requested days off, as long as you request WELL in advance. However, this is not guaranteed. If you miss a scheduled day of work, they do require documentation of the excuse, such as a doctor's note, or drunk driving ticket (which by the way I don't recommend, you will probably lose your job. it happened to someone on my crew.) Your employment with CP works on a point system. If you do something stupid, such as failing to provide an excuse, you will get 2 or 3 points. Once those points begin to add up, you will receive disciplinary action, up to and including suspension or termination of employment. ( I'm not 100% sure what this policy is, perhaps someone else could explain it better)
7) Work crew, if you get hired in with a start date before the park opens, plan on LOTS of cleaning. You will be cleaning the pools over at Soak City, raking dead leaves, scrubbing bird droppings, cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. Some areas, such as Food or Live Entertainment may have some training programs to go through.
I'm too sexy for my harness!
1)Chances are pretty slim at getting Maverick. If you really want to work Maverick, you can request to be transfered there during the season, staffing really fluctuates over the summer so if you ask at the right time you could probably make it to the ride. Also, after you get to CP you might find that you really like the ride you were placed at. The crew is what makes the ride fun to work, or a real pain.
2) After you process-in, you get to your ride at 8am and the TL will train you on the entire ride. This includes doing a lift-walk if you are on a coaster that has a lift. After you have worked on your ride, you can cross-train at other locations, Depending on the type of worker you are, you can learn to run a large number of rides. Supervision needs people trained at multiple locations so if some people call-off or are late, they need people to cover other rides. I knew one person last year that cross-trained on i believe 18 different rides...
3) They got rid of the double blue last season, so the rankings go from bottom to top,
Light Green -> 14 - 15 minor
Dark Green -> 16 - 17 minor
Red -> Base rate employee
Blue -> Leadership (includes ATL TL and Supervisors)
Silver -> Management (they aren't really silver anymore, last season it was a blue plaque like thing.
Rumor has it that the supervisors have a new name tag this year...
4) No idea, we do get discounts at many other places though, i don't think hotels are one of those though...
5) Management will love you if you extend your contract. Depending on how long you extend it, they have been known to give out rewards ranging from cookies to nicer items...
6) You get 1 day off a week. If you just need a single day off, thats really easy to get off. If you need 2 days off, then try if possible to make it Sunday - Monday since that just takes 1 day a week. Anything else and you need to get management approval.
7) CP uses the point system as stated before, you can work off points, but once your points reach a certain level you can't work those off anymore, the levels are at 4, 8, 12, and 16. 16 being fired. Working off points involes working after your shift or through a split, for every 2 hours of extra non-scheduled time, you can work off 1 point. 1 point is 1 to 15 minutes late, 2 is for 16 to 30, 3 is for 30 to 2hour, 4 is 2 to 4 hours i believe. and 8 is for a no-call / no show.

So does anyone know anything about office work? I know most people here work rides, but if you know anything at all about this position that would be a great help. My interviewer said that if I ended up hating it I could go out and actually work the games or in the arcades. That's why I kind of wish I was in the Park Ops department so I could go out and work the rides if I wanted.
I think I read somewhere that Games people wear a plaid shirt for their uniform. Does anyone know if office workers have a specific uniform like that?
Is it possible to get a job in more than one department? For instance, if I wanted more hours than I was getting in my office job and wanted to work in rides or even as a server/bartender would this be an easy thing to do? Or should I just plan to stay within the Games department?
Is it hard to get like maybe 3 days off in a row once or twice during the entire summer? I would like to go home for my best friend's and my niece's Birthdays and just to visit.
I think those are all the questions I have for now. Thanks in advance!

No, as long as you requested those dates on your application. If you didn't, then there is no way to guarantee that you will get any time off. In my experience, if your crew is overstaffed then they'll have no problem letting you take two or three days (some people were able to take a week). But if they aren't able to spare you, then there is no guarantee.

Usually, you can work extra hours in another department if they are understaffed.
is the park the only place employees get free entrance to?no soak city,castaway bay or challenge park?
2007-bartender@famous daves
Soak City is free.
Castaway is not.
Challenge Park does not charge to enter. Rides do cost though.
cool, are there any other cp employees who share my passion for mini-golf or will i be teased endlessly lol
2007-bartender@famous daves
Challenge Golf night (free golf after midnight for just employees) is always busy.
