but Dennis asserted that it was beneficial to the park.
True, I guess I see it from the parks perspective maybe it would help prevent overcrowding? Or bring some of us to the park when it's slow to maybe generate some revenue? That's my thinking anyways.

ust saw this from yesterday:
We were inside BackBeatQue when TTD was struck last night, the look on our kids face from the clap of thunder was priceless. š¬
How bad were the storms? Looks like Sandusky got hit pretty hard. Parts of the turnpike are closed due to downed power lines out that way..
For the most part Cedar Point got spared, looks like some parts of Port Clinton got hit hard. CP just got some gusty winds, a ton of lightning, and some heavy rain.
Looks like Rougarou hasn't been running so far today. I know roller coasters are equipped to handle lightning strikes, but would there be any reason a strike would harm it?
Just watched them cycle through some empty trains. Expect that they may have looked at a few things more closely than normal this morning knowing there was a lightning strike. There are systems in place to protect in the event of one but makes sense you would want to verify there wasn't an issue.
I was at the park yesterday and I donāt think Rougarou ran then, either.
I left the Point in the nick of time. I had noticed a weird chill in the air so I said goodbye and headed to the parking lot, figuring thereās not much worse than that walk during a rain storm.
I went into town and stopped at Culvers. By the time I was done there the sky was getting quite dark to the north/ west. So I drove south and stopped at the Speedway there at Rte 2/6. While I was there the tornado siren blew and it mustāve been right over the fence, I jumped a mile. I looked back north and it looked like nighttime with streaks of lightning. So I skedaddled toward Columbus as fast as I could, and the trouble these days is we listen to things other than radio so there was no weather report to pay attention to. An alert came over my phone and yes indeed, it was a tornado for real. I was glad to be gone, but hoped for everyoneās safety on the lake.
I was there too. Thought about leaving when they closed the lines, decided to try and wait it out at the On Tap show. The rain had just barely started when the show let out and they played the 'Severe thunderstorm' warning. Realized it was going to be worse than the forecast said. Walked back to the front parking lot watching the lightning. Drove home in the worst of it. By 8:30 it was already starting to clear up. If it had been a 10:00 closing night, I wouldn't have been surprised if they were able to reopen some stuff.

Looks like there was a tornado touchdown out that way. Scary for sure....glad everyone is safe!
Checked periodically on Rougarou after I saw it testing. Looks like its running now with people riding it.
For you weather geeks, this is a radar grab from the county over, classic hook echo that did have a tornado on it. Was working at dispatch in Sandusky and it was pretty intense - we were somehow spared the worst of it.
We were also there. The radar looked like it was going to go north of the park initially, but then the storm cell just blew up. Girls were in line for Atomic Scrambler when the alarm went off so we strolled into the Pavilion to ride it out. My oldest saw the Rougarou lightning strike from the windows, and the place shook and you heard "oooooohs" and "ahhhhhhhs" coming from the guests locked inside (they locked the doors on the second floor where we were so you couldn't go out on the patio).
Funny; when the tornado warning went off there wasn't any reaction. You could tell at that point that the park was not getting the worst of it (like mentioned above it was basically rain and an awesome lightning show), but with all of their policies I was surprised there wasn't something about that. By 8:00 we were out of there. Zero doubt rides would have reopened if it was a 10:00 closing.
The ride home was a different story. We live in Louisville, Ohio, which is exactly where the storm was going. Driving home for 2 hours inside it was not exactly fun.
Tornado Warning at-the-park credit earned.

Kind of hard not to see that, classic hook echo for sure. Norwalk almost got it....wow...
Kevin, do the sirens sound at the park too? Or is it just their park-wide notification system. We activated the sirens well before the tornado warning was issued but was not sure if the park had them too.
We were inside the pavilion, so not sure if that would make a difference. We all found out via our cell phones. You heard about 250 cell phones go off at once. I do not recall hearing sirens go off in the park itself.

My family is staying at Lighthouse Point this weekend and my wife, sister, and mom arrived yesterday with the kids. They were all hunkered down in the bathtub with pizza (which was delivered during the storm!).
One funny (and extremely annoying) thing that happened was that in the rush to get out of there, one of the auto-spiels on a water slide was left on All. Night. Long.
I arrived at the cabin early at about 4:30 am and it was still going.

That's right, wasn't it up for sale first then they moved it?
I donāt think it was up for sale either. IIRC, it was supposed to go to CGA, but that idea was scrapped and it was then sent to Dorney.
Glad it was saved, loved that ride, too short but still fun!!! So cool to see it still running.

We were in BackBeatQue and only heard the park wide notification when the tornado warning was issued. No sirens to my knowledge.
One interesting thing was that the staff in BackBeatQue didnāt seem to know how to handle the storm at first. Initially, they kept telling people they couldnāt go into the closed side of BackBeatQue (because itās closed for the night), but after more and more people came in they gave up that idea. That seemed like some āby the bookā rule someone was following, ignoring that people are attempting to take shelter.
I also thought it was interesting (policy wise) that the staff didnāt treat the tornado warning as anything special. They just kept on serving food, and there were people still sitting (locked) out on the patio. Maybe things would be different if it were clear there was a greater risk for the park.
What is up the web cams recently? Some seem to skip a few seconds then go back a few seconds. And the color seems washed out on all of them. I remember last year the color and sharpness was brilliant.
We've had the same 3 views for some time too with one of them not really showing much of anything.
Wonder why they were ok with showing off most of the pavilion & wild mouse construction, but don't seem to want any work on dragster visible on the cams. Think there's any chance that'll change now that they're starting to focus advertising more on the next big thing?
Pavilion and wild mouse had been announced when they were showing construction, right? At this point TTD2.0 hasn't been announced.
I was at the park on Saturday. Walked past TTD for the first time since last year. I was curious to see in person what I had already seen in pics online. But everyone else (including my wife who was with me) were walking past the area as if nothing existed on the other side of the fence.
It would make sense in July to sell the thing that's open, not the thing that you can't ride until next year.

Present view of Power Tower camera #2 pointing straight down is pretty neat. Today at about 11:00am I'll be down there in line, just look for the sun glare off my bald dome when I take off my Chief Wahoo cap.

The new web angles are awful! Camera 2 is OK, it shows TT2, but Camera 1 just shows the docks and Camera 3 shows a blurry mess of cobwebs and some coasters in the background. Bleh!
Summon the drones! The rumors are confirmed! The next major un-announced major project is right there on Camera #3. Demolition of the neglected Town Hall Museum soon to begin as they will relocate that ground-breaking coaster Woodstock Express to that site. They have already placed the engine there.
That's actually the engine from the kiddie train up in Planet Snoopy.
Seems like a long-ways away to store it for the winter. The mystery grows.

Every New Yearās Eve as I go to sleep after midnight I pull up the webcams and watch the silent park and distant flashing red lights. Gives a sense of peace and calm for the new year.

Wonder if we'll get to see more test runs as it warms up?
Still haven't been able to uncross these circuits...

When I click on the #2 camera I get a view that alternates between live/green screen. Anyone else get that?

Looks nice all lit up too. Wonder how much of that is final vs construction lighting. Will be interesting to see what they do with the light effects, launch lights, station lights, etc.
Holy geez its foggy. I just checked to see if the flooding at the Point was as bad as it is here, and the cameras aren't showing anything but misty grey. Can't see a thing.
