Cedar Point's Next Coaster: Do You Think It Would More Likely Be An Intamin Or a B&M?

I would love to see a change from the recent Intamin coaster coming to CP. Don't get me wrong, I love all those Intamins that have come in, but I would just like to see something from a different company. I would really like to see a GCI. I think it would be a great fit for the park.

I think Cedar Point has ditched any thoughts of ever building a new wooden. It seems there trying to make Mean Streak as fresh as new instead of building a new one.

^I'm pretty sure those thoughts were that of Kinzel. He is now gone so the chances of seeing another wooden coaster are probably a lot better now.

What I think Chuck Wagon was trying to say is that there haven't been any STRATA rocket coasters built after Kingda Ka.

Intamin only sold 2 Giga coasters and they're pretty good rides. And another example of CP getting the one without OTSR.

But wasn't there like a state law in NJ that made Kingda Ka have OTSR's? If that is the case, you can't blame Intamin for that. They have to follow the laws or there wouldn't be a 450ft tall monster standing there at all.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it has more to do with how the park feels about it than it being mandated by the state to have OTSRs. I think the major changes that happened following the Superman accident (in terms of laws/regulations) was a crackdown on safety operations, the length of the belt and other manufacturing standards. In this case, SFGADV went the overly safe route and used the OTSRs for Kingda Ka's trains. And you can't blame them for being overly safe......especially having a bad accident(s) on their hands.

Just be glad that there ISNT some kind of state or nation wide requirement. Then you'd have to kiss Millennium's AND Dragster's t-bars bye bye. And hopefully the new restrain style being used on Skyrush becomes the new standard for parks who have to have that level of safety and not degrade the ride experience.

I doubt the state mandated anything.

I forget exactly what I was listening to (or watching,) but the person being interviewed (I think it was somebody from CP, not Intamin) said that the reason for KK's shoulder harnesses was to accommodate "larger" guests.

I believe this was what I was referring to:

I think with the space we have, that a Intamin zacspin is a good fit for the park and would be a thrilling ride which is what i think the park needs after the last few years of family rides.

I wouldn't call windseeker and shoot the rapids family rides. Maybe shoot the rapids but deffently not Windseeker. In our eyes, windseeker is not a thrill. In a 8 year olds eyes, 301 feet is like being at the top of the Willis tower.

I don't want a zacspin. I want a 4th dimension but something like X2.

Windseeker's height requirement is 52 inches.

STR's is 46.

Those simple facts exclude either from being "family rides". Heck, they are not even listed as family rides on the website.

This, in my opinion, was Kinzel's most glaring flaw. I honestly don't think he understood what "family ride" meant, or he simply didn't care.

In no universe is Shoot the Rapids or Windseeker family rides.

I honestly can't think of the last family ride CP installed. White Water Landing in 1982?

I think by family rides he meant non-coasters, or a better way to have put it would've been "flat" rides of some sort...

^^In *some* fairness though, STR was supposed to have the height requirement of 42".

I agree with you on Kinzel's flaw. I don't think he knew how to execute a family area or attraction.

He did bring in Planet Snoopy and Camp Snoopy. I don't know what those areas are like in the eyes of a parents but they seem to be good kids areas.

I think it'll be a black and silver B&M wing coaster called "Raven".

^What makes you think that? But if so, I would prefer White and Purple or Silver and Purple.

I just really like how the colors fit. Except I would want the track to be purple.

I think a Purple and Gold paint job would look legit (Unless your a fan of the Minnesota Vikings, in which then my opinion changes to Honolulu Blue and Silver)
