Cedar Point's Next Coaster: Do You Think It Would More Likely Be An Intamin Or a B&M?

Gold supports would look pretty legit! I'm all for the gold supports with light blue track

So if there is a coaster coming, when do you think we could start to see some signs.

We're picking colors now? :)

You guys are so cute.

Promoter of fog.

Colors are very important in the roller coaster speculating process!

Color is the first thing I see in a coaster.

It's just like a book I'll only read it if the cover looks good. lol

08 -Thunder Canyon, 09 - Maverick, 10 - Mean Streak, 11 & 12 - Mean Streak ATL, 13 - Maverick TL

So I was bored today and decided to get on Bing Maps and try and scope out some possible roller coaster locations.

Here is the first picture and what I believe to be the most realistic at this point in time.

There have been rumors that a new B&M coaster would take the place of turnpike cars. I think it would be great, but I just can't really see a B&M fitting in just that location. I have heard rumors that we could be seeing the employee housing being removed soon so that could open up a lot of space to make the roller coaster go over Perimeter Road and take the location of the employee housing.

Here another possibility, but much less probable in the near future. This is Thunder Canyon, I don't really expect to see the ride going anywhere in the near future because it is very VERY popular on those hot summer days. I really do not think that Cedar Point is planning on removing this ride anytime soon. However, if they were to remove it, it would definitely open up some room.

This is the final picture. It is located in between Mean Streak and Gemini. I belive the buildings are used for storage. I'm sure they could be moved if needed in order to create space because that is a pretty decently sized piece of land.

I don't see why Cedar Point hasn't bought the old J.D Byrider building across from T.G.I.F, that would be ideal for storage or ride maintenance during the off-season. As far as your Bing maps SSL488, I like the #1 rendering drawing that you did. Have never figured out what those red building are for, but I know they have some value. Also what parking lot would that drawing being coing into? That looks like Famous Dave's area?

I think the #3 is the most propable. Matt mentioned moving those red employee dorms but i think that's his idea and if we're getting a coaster in 2013, it would of been planned by Dick and the location would already be set.

I think #3 is great. An entrance near Gemini would really benefit the area. Get more people over there and hopefully get rid of that ugly hot blacktop.

I guess we will just have to wait and see

If you expand a little bit on #3, you end up with an area a bit more like this.

From my perspective, this seems like the most plausible area to build a nice sized ride. The building in the pic is the P&D (planning and designing) building and I think that if they were to move the employee housing out of the park, that lot would work really well for a new P&D building. And before anyone starts worrying about Boneville and the train, I think you can still keep them the same and build around it.

p.s.- Shawn, those red buildings are the employee houses that some people believe are on their way out (which would be great).

Wow, that really did open up a lot more. I feel like the long strip where the train and Boneville are would be where the lift hill would be. Especially if it is a B&M Dive. I can totally picture the turn around once you reach the top of the lift. And then the remainder of the ride would go where the P&D buildings are.

Has anyone ever considered moving the midway along the beach? This would include the removal of the aquatic stadium and DT. It creates a lot of space, and (in my opinion) creates much more of a "beachfront" midway

I vote for a 4 tracked wooden Flying Turns model ;) Oh, wait...

Take that one step further and move P&D off point altogether. This is something I think the park needs to do with a lot of the buildings that do not actually need to be on the peninsula. Some that I think need to go are P&D, Central Receiving, Employee Dorms, Human Resources, Merchandise Warehouse, Halloweekends Storage, Construction Shops, Wardrobe and Linen Services to name a few. All of those buildings could be removed from the point and they would free up a LOT of land.

Aso think outside the box for a bit and realize that a new coaster does not need a lot of large open land or a square piece of property. Magnum, Millennium Force, Corkscrew and Blue Streak do not take up much land. If its an out-and-back you could run a coster outside of the park to just about anywhere. A B&M Hyper does not take up much land if you run it through a parking lot.
