Technically, it was a new ride. New to King's Island, anyway. New name and colors, too.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.

Will they ever take out the picture of the Demon Drop, because it still have it going to Knott's Berry Farm. The pieces of the DEMON DROP at DORNEY PARK.

Cedar Fair is confusing. The way they do business is just dumb.

we all really shouldn't be that surprised with Cedar Fair this time. Once again- the decision to shut down Geauga Lake wasn't made until the day after the park closed remember? Leaving enthusiasts and fans of the park in Aurora without the chance to say goodbye.

This man (Kinzel) has literally lost his mind.

Actualy, it was made in the middle of the season. They just kept it quiet for some reason.

Speaking as one of the only (if not the only) active P'Buzzer with a Geauga Lake reference in his signature, I miss the park as much as anyone else. That being said, I really don't want to dig up yet another jumbo helping of animosity debating the circumstances of GL's closing. It's been argued to death. So unless someone has something new to add to that stale discussion, what do you say we move on?

Yes it's a good idea to move on now. Speaking of which, does anybody think that Demon drop will end up being built at Dorney Park, or is it just a pit stop? I know this seems like a dumb question, but our only resources come from screamscape.

If its still going to Knots... isnt this pit stop going in the wrong direction? Heading East to go West?

Take you up really really high and then drop you at speeds that are really really fast.

From all apparent evidence, DD is no longer going to Knotts -- perhaps because of the negative publicity it received in L.A. It appears its new (new) home will be Dorney.

I'm not trying to bring up Geauga Lake to discuss its closing. I'm simply using it as proof to the way things are handled in the big office up in Sandusky.

GL should've been given a proper farewell, I am not arguing whether or not the park should've been shut down... it wasn't profitable, so obviously it needed to be closed. However, the way Cedar Fair handled the closing was un-professional and lacking in tact.

And now the current situation with Demon Drop demonstrates how this company is run by an egotistical maniac... I certainly am not surprsied by current stock prices or quarterly results (bad economy or not).

The press release states "Demon Drop
installation is scheduled to begin on January 4, 2010." So isn't it possible that Dorney is just a drop off point? I can't think of a ride off the top of my head right now, but rides destined for other parks have made "pit stops" as it were at other parks before. It doesn't seem to make sense from a monetary stand point for the company to ship one way and then turn it around and ship the other. But at this rate, the company doesn't seem to make very many good decisions anyway and some things remain a mystery as to why they do them. This may be one of those things.

Basically, I'm not holding my breath that Demon Drop will remain so close to me and is probably still on its way California. I'll wait for some kind of announcement. Especially since it is not even December yet.

But out at Knott's, they have not even begun site prep or anything. Screaming Swing is still in operation. While I understand that its a small ride and would not take long to remove, some sort of prep work would already have begun.

I would not be surprised one bit if the site was not big enough for Demon Drop. Looking at it the other day (in person), that space if very small. It would be squeezed in there and even then, the midway in front would be very pinched if it were installed. At this point, I am saying Dorney is its final destination.

Are you somehow suggesting that beachfront property shouldn't be occupied by a windowless pole-barn?

The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

Dorney = Another park that already has a tower ride. If only it could have been moved to Michigan's Adventure.
