What do you do for amusement park-like thrills during the off season?

I admit it, I am dying and can't take it anymore. School sucks, work sucks, my whole life in general sucks really, and there is no Cedar Point. At least from May till October if crap like this is happening I can go get away and ride TTD or Maverick and everything is better. But right about now I am really suffering. Opening day can't come soon enough.

Aww, sorry to hear you feeling so down ejh. If I can play Lucy for a minute..."what you need is involvement". Find a winter sport to get some stress relief. Others have given good ideas or even just join a health club. Doing laps in an indoor pool feels great. I'm having trouble running in this cold, so I'm about to hit the treadmill. Boring, yes, but I crank the IPod & the endorphins get flowing. And if you have a faith, rely on that. Hope things get better for ya. :)

(Keep the nickel. ;))

Hello ejh1701,

I know exactly where you are coming from. CP is my happy place and it is the only place that I go that I do not dwell on the bad things going on in my life, truly heaven on earth for me. My off-season happy places also keep me above the crap too. :)

Good Grief,

You are the nicest and most compassionate person I have ever witnessed on this site. Thank you for all of your positive contributions!!!.

:) Happy Holidays!!! :)

A future off season destination in Dayton to an aeronautical theme park. We already go to the Air Force Museum each off season, I hope this indoor theme park makes it.

I always thought that CP/CF should partner with NASA Plumbrook to develop a year round theme park as well. NASA is looking for ways to make more of the property use and has expressed interest in tourism attractions.

The Dayton topic was at coasterbuzz.

The article just said "downtown Dayton or Riverside". I believe that Riverside is an area west of WPAFB, but I'm not from Dayton, I'm a flatlander in NWOH. :)

^ Here's some info on Riverside, OH.

http://www.riverside.oh.us/

They have one of these old Cedar Point CoasteRider X-Press motion arcade rides at the Midway Mall in Elyria (OH). "A custom soundtrack from guitar legend Peter Frampton enhances the experience"!?! Here's the flyer link:

We were at Kalahari for the 1st day of the expansion on the 21st and it was amazing! What an awesome off season destination. The new rides are great, especially Swahili Swirl and the Cheetah Racers. The wave pool was great too and much less chaotic than at Soak City. It was pretty crowded all weekend. I felt like I was at Soak City on a warm July day, but more fun! We stayed until yesterday afternoon and we miss the park already.

I could see an indoor amusement park with a hotel/resort complex attached as big a hit as the water parks are.

:) Happy Holidays! :)

I agree, ejh... CP is the one place I can go to avoid all the stress of life. Nothing could ever help quite as much, I'm sure.

I'm telling you guys, the firing range comes pretty close. Especially if you get a chance to fire the big guns that really give a kick. There's nothing that gets your heart racing quite like your first time pulling that trigger, especially when it is in a safe, controlled environment and you're only shooting at paper.

I would venture to say it is comparable to the first time conquering a big coaster.

I know a lot of you all live in the Cleveland area, I just made a trip up to Rays indoor mountain bike park it was a ton of fun, the place is 103,000 square feet very massive. I think I am going to try and hit the place up again in the spring. http://www.raysmtb.com/ check it out they have stuff for all riding levels.

The IX center in cleveland has alot of events there throughout the year, even the indoor amusement park in march/april!

Have any of you been to the IX center, if so, what is your favorite event? (if you've been to a few, at least)

Six flags in atlanta opens in a week and a half.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I dont do anything (save for perhaps a trip to a park down South every few years) that makes April/May that much sweeter. In the meantime I have/had Football, Christmas, and College Basketball to keep my occupied.

Do you see where trail riding can be similar to riding a coaster. You get strong g's in the corners and lots of air time!

I myself rock climb when the amusement parks are open and when they are closed. Its fun, it can cause pumping of adrenaline, and if you are doing routes it can be challenging. The best part is if you are lead climbing or just regular climbing and you get what some call a "Rocket Drop." Its the closest feeling you can get to riding a roller coaster, basically you drop 10-25 feet, so that you get into a "free fall" then suddenly stop. I myself have experienced it and it was fun.

Off-season? We don't know what you're talking about here in SoCal. :-) This is the best time of year to go. You can't beat the 20-min lines for X2. :-)
