Cedar Point 2007. Here's the latest.

Rider

Most of the time they have a backup planned. Last year Trokia was to backup maXair, Wave Swinger for Skyhawk (ok... not the best rides but its the thought that counts). Magnum or Mantis for the coasters. I can't count the number of times Raptor opened early (my first year when it wasn't JC) for Dragster. Felt like nearly every day. One day last year I was working Millennium (on a Halloweekend Friday) and we couldn't open in time for ERT so they got Dragster up and running early for the guests.

There is usually a backup and the employees at the closed ride should know (or are able to find out really quick) which has been opened instead of theirs.

Sorry you had a bad experience. Ask us next time and we can point you to an open ride.

I remember one morning last summer I came in for ERT the morning that there had been a bad storm that had partially knocked out power to parts of the park. I did my usual power-walk to maXair, only to find the crew cleaning the queue and talking. My friend on the crew (the ATL) quickly found out if Raptor and Millenium were up or not, and then told me the only thing up so far was Skyhawk. The employees are usually more than happy to help you find the rides that are open early, especially if you know them and ride their ride frequently. :)

On a similar note, I'm sad that maXair isn't on the ERT list this summer. :( Maybe I'll just be grabbing one ride on Maverick before heading up to catch a few wake-up spin cycles on maXair opening day.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Being such a long walk back to Maverick, it would be nice if the train was running that early... (cue John)

I remember that day when the power went out in the front of the park... if the power had gone out five minutes earlier I would have been stuck on maXair as I was the test-rider that morning... good thing we were on top of things...

David, what are some of the local or smaller bussiness franchises that could be used? Something that you could honestly see working at Cedar Point, be it in the park or out.

I have allready mentioned one (Thirsty Pony) and there has been several other ones mentioned by others that are not "chains" that could work if the right amount of thought and work is put into it.

^^So you just mean locally owned family business? Not smaller business franchises like you originally stated? Well, it would make more sense for Cedar Point to add their own brand of restaurant at the park then a local one. No one from out of town would know what the Thirsty Pony is nor would they care. To them, its just a park restaurant that has pricy food that “could” be good. But if a family saw a name they recognized then they have a better chance of already knowing if the menu was something they liked. Like I already said, Berardi’s would be the only local restaurant that would make sense being in the park, any other would just be dumb.

And for the record, only three (3) local restaurants were mentioned. Thirsty Pony by you, Chett & Matt’s Pizza, and Berardi’s by me.

David, just an FYI. Fazoli’s is far from local. The first one was in Kentucky. Now they have locations in 32 states.

Like I JUST said, only three restaurants were mentioned.

I had an idea in bringing this topic back. What about a Red Robin? That is actually a restuarant in North Canton, Ohio. www.redrobin.com/

It makes for a nice restaurant, but it really doesn't pull away from the typical burger place too much.

Even if it's raining, I just enjoy being at Cedar Point. I mean I even had fun the day that I lost my keys and had to go home with my friends who we just so happened to run into (which had to be fate:)).
But I was sad when my mom and I had to drive all the way back to the park the next day to get my car and she didnt let me go ride Dragster when I went to get my keys from Lost and Found. I was so upset and she knew......but she was too mad at me to acknowledge it.:) Though she said the next day that she wished she could have went in the park and gone on some of the rides since it was such a beautiful day......I just turned and gave her an angry look.:)
