What!!!!
Hooters wings have ten times the amount of meat on them as bw3's.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Bonless wings? If you wanted processed BBQ'd meat, go get a McRib at McDonalds.

You're defending BW3's/Hooters in the same sentence in which you talk badly about processed meat? That's funny stuff.
When is the last time you saw a chicken farm in the parking lot of a BW3's/Hooters?
Brandon
WTF? There is a difference between frozen wings and chopped up meat bits formed into a patty. BTW, I hate BW3. I'm not defending anyone in perticular, I'm just defending "meat on the bone".

Why not call it ERWT? Seems like every visit I make it takes the first hour of the day to get everything working. About the time the front gate officially opens, just about everything is finally operational. "Early Ride Wait Time" just doesn't do it for me. What they need is for the maintenance to open up two hours early and have everything running. That, would be a great feature. BTW, ever notice that the cash registers never suffer from startup issues?
And I think nearly everything is open at 10 (except rides explicitly listed as not opening until 11). Even though people may be allowed in at 9:30, 10 is still the official opening of the park.

The registers might need occasional maintenance too if we sat on them and rode them around the track at 60mph+

We should drop one off the top of a really big hill and see how long it's down for maintenance... ;)

Maybe they'll modify it to be the worlds tallest and fastest cash register.:)

You do realize that only 3 or 4 rides are supposed to be open early, right? Anything else that opens before 10 is a bonus. But hey, whining is more fun than getting informed, right?

Yeah, the morning ERT is only for certain rides (last year MF, Raptor, Maxair, and Skyhawk.. this year Maverick, MF, Raptor, Skyhawk, and GCA) Nothing else is scheduled to open until at least 10.. If they can get the ride up and running before then they do that, but most crews don't even get to the park until 930-ish.
My point is that CP encourages you to stay on site or get a pass so you get the extended ride time. But when you run to the 4 rides that are scheduled to open and find that they are down, they don't even offer to open something else as an alternative. Last year, I stayed at Breakers, entered by Ocean Motion to find MaxAir down, then I raced over to MF to find it down - by the time I got to Skyhawk, the line was at an regular daytime length then I trucked over to Raptor just in time to see the 10AM people enter. To me that's not ERT, it is an early morning jog! Why can't they at least radio the gates and tell them if there is a problem and have an alternate attraction available so that we don't waste that hour running from one end of the park to the other? At the very least, there should be some sort of fastpass available as compensation since you aren't getting what's advertised - ERT.
And as for the cash registers, they cycle far more times than ANY ride at the park. You can bet that if they were down you would at least see someone working on them. To me there is nothing worse than ERT wasted on Maxair and not one maintenance person in site.
I'm guessing you just hit the park on a bad day. Usually they get the rides open within a few minutes if they're not already running when ERT riders get there. If they know a ride is going to be down, they more often than not open another ride as a replacement. This is only if they know in advance though. They have to be able to tell the crew early enough for them to be there. If the ride goes down due to mechanical shortly before ERT or shortly after it starts, there really isn't much they can do. By then it's far too late to order another ride up for ERT riders. Not to mention that it's stated that: "For safety reasons, rides may be unavailable because of weather or maintenance conditions."
Ohh, and most of the maintenance of Cedar Point cash registers is handled by an outside company. More than likely, they'd just replace it and send it back the company to be fixed if it was anything major.

And how fast do that cash registers go? Not exactly a complex or dynamic ride element, there, chief. What can break on a cash register? The spring that makes the drawer pop out? There's a reason why none of the Kiddie Kingdom rides are ever down, but TTD/Dragster/maXair/Skyhawk etc. are from time to time. Do you really think maintenance spends more time on the Kiddie Kingdom rides? By the way, the dispatch interval on many of the coasters and water rides is 1 minute or less. I doubt the cash registers "cycle" much, if any, faster than that.
You had a bad time, sorry to hear that. Did you tell anyone in the park? Ask for compensation? I'm thinking you didn't. Like I said, it sure is fun to complain about it here, but not exactly the most productive or proactive solution, is it?
I remember one morning last summer where maXair was down for the ERT and one of us on the crew was trained to run Troika, so they decided to open that up. But, like Doug said, most of the time when the maintenance problems occur, it's just not possible to open up another ride because the crew isn't there yet.
Also, I can assure you that when there is a problem with a ride in the morning like that, or any time of the day for that matter, that just because you don't see a maintenance guy in sight, it doesn't mean no one is working on the problem. Most of the time, at least for maXair, the maintenance guys were out of sight in the electrical room.
To me, SteveH, it just sounds like you had a rather unfortunate morning.
