Cedar Point 2007. Here's the latest.

I came back to NH after the '05 season and was surpized when I saw one in Machester, NH, about 25 min away from my house. Appaertly, Dave's is expand at a decent clip.

Maybe what CP needs is something similar to Los Gatos in terms of food.

Or the Taco Bell of Italian food. :)

No! use the same stuff, but Gatos is the only place in the park where you can get tacos and those insane Machos Nachos. If they were any bigger, you would need a golf cart to take them around.

I don't know if many of you know what this is but they should get a Dagwoods restaurant(the man that made Mr. Hero owns it). Talk about some good food. Located off of Brookpark Rd. in Cleveland (down the street from Best Buy if any of you live around here. You should try it out.) Just saying this because I think they should get an uncommon restaurant that isn't everywhere.

I live right there and never saw it before... where exactly is it?

For once in my life I actually agree with Jeff, Buca di Beppo is a horrible exscuse for Italian. I married into a very Italian (Sicilian to be exact) family and they have all declared Buca to be some of the most horrible stuff on the planet. Italian is a hard food to market because it is easy to screw up, safe foods such as burgers and such are easier to market when it comes to a "quick service" place inside of the park. I dont want to say fast food because it is not have to be that per se.

I frankly dont care what CP puts in that spot as long as it is something that is good to eat. A change in food option is allways nice but not allways needed in CPs case. You have to keep in mind that they need to get people out of there as fast as possible to keep the masses happy. A sit down Italian style restaurant may not be the best choice in the middle of the park.

And obviously a sit down burger restaurant hasnt been working either.;)

Well if you compare it to an Italian dish made by an Italian family, then your going to get crap. Trust me, I have had much better Italian food then Bucca’s. My old roommate was Italian and made some of the best I have ever had. Not to mention whenever I go to NYC, I make a stop in Little Italy for some real Italian food. But what I am saying is that Bucca’s is good as far as franchise restaurants go. Which would you rather have; a thick cheeseburger from your grill outback, or a McDonalds cheeseburger? You pick homemade! But homemade does not come in a franchise. I don’t blame your in-laws for not liking Bucca’s food, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t like Olive Garden either.

A sit down Italian style restaurant may not be the best choice in the middle of the park.

And I agree. That is why I said Id rather see it outside the park, but on point.

No, Bucca's is not even close to good Italian franchise food. If you want good Italian franchise food, go to a Brio or Bravo (same company). And yes, I think Olive Garden is also not very good, though they are light years ahead of Bucca.

Bucca's is crap in my opinion, I was just being kind earlier when I said I wasn't very impressed.

I have been to the one in Columbus. And you are right, they do have great food. I did not realize they had THAT many locations though. I also did not know they were together with Bon Vie (another good place to eat). I would rather have that at the park then Bucca’s then if it were an option. But I could see the park using Bucca’s before Bravo. Id like to see an area outside of the park, whether it be on or off point, developed for nicer restaurants and shops. So yeah, basicly a smaller scale City Walk. It just doesn’t have to be so “out” there. The lack of excitement in Challenge Park could be changed by adding something like this. That is one of the reasons Id rather see new restaurants open outside the park.

Pete where I come from, Brio is an Italian soft drink. Reading this thread has made me realize that Canada does not have many Italian chains. We had an Olive Garden in Windsor years ago, but it shut down. Windsor has a high Italian community so we have a little Italy full of small restaurants. As an Italian, I'm not afraid to say that the Olive Garden has some decent food. I went to the one in Sandusky last year on Closing Weekend and had a great dinner.

As for an Italian restaurant within the park, I'm not sure. A dining location like Coasters works out because it's decent food and it's quick. Sit down restaurants are also great because after a long day sometimes you just want to sit and relax and enjoy a meal. Personally, I usually go off Point for that because CP offers nothing that interests me. I'm sure they will introduce something that they think will work.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Olive Garden sucks too, maybe even more. I'm partial to Macaroni Grille, which may not be entirely "authentic," but the quality and seasoning they use is good stuff.

I finally got to eat at a Chipotle's this past weekend at Crocker Park, and I would definately spend some money in the park if they had one, although the odds of that happening are about zero.

I agree with Jeff.

Olive garden is a VERY sad excuse for Italian food.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Bucca's is crap and the Olive Guarden is alot better

Jeff, you are right-o on Macaroni grill. They used to have this Veal Saltimboca that had spinich leaves in it that was awesome.

The only thing that Olive Garden has that is worth mentioning is the zupa tuscana. Other than that it is as worthless as Bucca.

I still dont see why everyone looks to the chains. There is a ton of local or smaller bussiness francises that would be more than happy to fill an open spot at CP and provided some really delicious meals.

^ Because America loves standardized, mediocre, corporate controlled food. Duh. :)

99er's avatar

David, what are some of the local or smaller bussiness franchises that could be used? Something that you could honestly see working at Cedar Point, be it in the park or out.

Pete's avatar

Yup, Macaroni Grille is another good one. Forgot about that one since we have both a Brio and a Bravo on the east side, but no Macaroni Grille.

Why not a nice, fun, atmosphered restaurant that is delightfully tacky yet unrefined. They have scantily clad waitresses in white tank tops and orange shorts that serve delicious BBQ wings.

HOOTERS! mmmmmmm
